Abstract

Appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix that often requires a surgical removal called an appendectomy. Anxiety is commonly experienced by adolescents facing appendicitis surgery, which can affect their recovery process. Dhikr therapy and deep breathing relaxation techniques are non-pharmacological methods aimed at reducing anxiety levels and providing a sense of calm to patients. This study used a case study approach with one intervention patient and one control patient. Nursing care was provided to adolescent patients with appendicitis who experienced anxiety before undergoing an appendectomy. The intervention consisted of dhikr therapy and deep breathing relaxation techniques administered for 45 minutes. Patient assessment was conducted using the HARS questionnaire and evaluating the patient's vital signs. The study showed a significant reduction in anxiety levels in the adolescent intervention respondent compared to the control respondent. Anxiety scores in the intervention respondents decreased significantly after receiving dhikr therapy and deep breathing relaxation techniques. This indicates that the combination of these two therapies is effective in reducing anxiety in adolescents with appendicitis undergoing an appendectomy. This study concludes that dhikr therapy and deep breathing relaxation techniques can be effective methods for managing anxiety in adolescents facing appendicitis surgery. Implementing these methods in clinical care can help improve the quality of life and recovery process for patients. Further research is recommended to explore the long-term effects of these therapies and their application to a broader population.

Abstract

Sectio caesarea (SC) is an important action to prevent the risk of death of the mother or baby during labor. However, the increasing number of operations raises concerns about the health and psychological impacts on mothers. Pre-operative anxiety is often experienced by CS patients and can have a negative impact on the labor process. This study used a case study with 1 intervention patient and 1 control patient. Nursing care is provided to G1P0AO pregnant women who experience anxiety before undergoing SC surgery. Intervention in the form of murottal of Al-Qur'an Surah Ar-Rahman and deep breathing relaxation was given for 45 minutes before the operation process. Scoring of reduced anxiety levels in intervention and control patients before and after therapy showed a significant effect. Patients who received the intervention experienced significant reductions in blood pressure and pulse, indicating decreased anxiety. In contrast, control patients had increased blood pressure and pulse, indicating increased anxiety. Conclusion: Murottal therapy of Al-Qur'an Surah Ar-Rahman and deep breathing relaxation significantly reduce anxiety levels in SC patients. Integration of these nonpharmacological therapies in clinical protocols may aid in the preoperative preparation of SC patients. Further research is needed to confirm these findings and explore their potential applications in other medical contexts.

Abstract

Naturally fractured reservoir differs frorn clastic reservoirs in the sense that the con-cepts of porous media which were usually applied for clastic reservoir analysis rnust bemodified. This means that handling naturally fractured reservoir is also different com-pared to handling clastic reservoir. The porosity may be changed a bit bigger but thepermeability is drastically changed. Also at a depth where rock layers are usually tight, naturally fractured reservoirs converts it to become a good reservoirs. Naturally fracturedreservoirs can be found in sorne part of the Indonesian basin which may contribute aconsiderable additional reserves in the near future.

Abstract

Abstract

Academic procrastination hurts students’ academic performance and emotional well-being. Addressing this issue is essential in higher education settings. This study examines the effectiveness of positive psychology-based counselling in reducing academic procrastination among guidance and counselling students. This study involved 16 students from Muhammadiyah University of Pringsewu, Indonesia, who used the Pure Procrastination Scale (PPS) to measure their levels of procrastination. A pretest-posttest control group design was applied. The experimental group received a positive psychology intervention consisting of 8 weekly sessions, while the control group participated in conventional group counselling. Data were analyzed using an independent t-test, which showed a significant difference between the two groups after the intervention (p = 0.001), with a strong effect size (Cohen’s d = 2.46). Furthermore, the intervention increased conscientiousness, self-restraint, and self-control, all of which are important for academic discipline. These results indicate that positive psychology-based counselling is effective in reducing academic procrastination and enhancing students' self-regulation skills.
