Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine: The effect of vocabulary and grammar mastery on the English recount text writing skills of state junior high. The results of the hypothesis obtained the following conclusions: (1) There is a significant influence in mastering the vocabulary and grammar together on the ability to write English recount text in junior high school. This is shown from the value of Sig 0.010 <0.05 and Fh = 4.972. (2) There is a significant influence of vocabulary mastery on writing English recount text of state junior high school. This is shown from the value of Sig 0.033 <0.05 and th = 2192. (3) There is a significant influence of grammar mastery on writing English recount text of state junior high school. This is shown from the value of Sig 0.039 <0.05 and th = 2.111.Keywords: vocabulary, grammar, recount text

Abstract

Abstrak. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui: 1) pengaruh persepsi atas gaya belajar dan perhatian orang tua secara bersama-sama terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris siswa kelas XI SMK Negeri di Jakarta Pusat; 2) pengaruh persepsi atas gaya belajar terhadap prestasi  belajar bahasa Inggris  siswa kelas XI  SMK Negeri di Jakarta Pusat; 3) pengaruh perhatian orang tua terhadap prestasi  belajar bahasa Inggris siswa kelas XI SMK  Negeri di Jakarta Pusat. Metode penelitian ini adalah survei dengan teknik analisis korelasi. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI SMK Negeri 1, SMK Negeri 34, dan SMK Negeri 39 di Jakarta Pusat, semester Genap tahun pelajaran 2017-2018 berjumlah 667 siswa. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 100 siswa. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan: 1) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan persepsi atas gaya belajar dan perhatian orang tua secara bersama-sama terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris siswa SMKN di Jakarta Pusat. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan perolehan nilai Sig. = 0,001 < 0,05 dan Fhitung = 7,047. 2) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan persepsi atas gaya belajar terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris siswa  SMKN di Jakarta Pusat. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan nilai  Sig. = 0,049 < 0,05 dan thitung = 1,993. 3) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan perhatian orang tua terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris siswa SMKN di Jakarta Pusat. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan, nilai Sig. = 0,000 < 0,05 dan thitung = 3,739.Kata Kunci: Persepsi siswa, gaya belajar, perhatian orang tua, prestasi belajar.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of the research is to find out the character and theme in the “Aladdin” movie from Walt Disney 2019 by Guy Ritchie. This research is designed as qualitative research. The data are collected by analyzing the data found in the film. The analysis of the film is undertaken on the dialogues. The result of the research is the form of character and theme. 1) The character which emerges in film “Aladdin”, Protagonist is 65%, Antagonist is 29%, and Foil 6%. It means that the protagonist is dominating. 2) Theme that exist in the film, Complexity of Human Relationship gets 35%, Moral implication is 23,333%, Social Problem is 18,333%, Struggle for Human Dignity is 10%, Truth of Human Nature is 5%, Coming of Age/ Loss of Innocence/ Growing Awareness is 5%, Moral or Philosophical Riddle is 3,333%. It means that complexity of human relationship is dominating.Key Words: character; theme; movie; Walt Disney.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui 1) Pengaruh minat baca terhadap kemampuan memahami teks report bahasa Inggris siswa SMPN di Kabupaten Indramayu. 2) Pengaruh penguasaan kosakata terhadap kemampuan memahami teks report bahasa Inggris siswa SMPN di Kabupaten Indramayu. 3) Pengaruh minat baca dan penguasaan kosakata terhadap kemampuan memahami teks report bahasa Inggris siswa SMPN di Kabupaten Indramayu. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah survey dengan teknik analisis jalur. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri di Kabupaten Indramayu yang berjumlah 800 siswa. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 89 siswa. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan: 1) Tidak terdapat pengaruh langsung yang signifikan minat baca terhadap kemampuan memahami teks report bahasa Inggris  siswa SMP Negeri di Kabupaten Indramayu.  Hal tersebut dapat dibuktikan dengan nilai thitung = 1,486 < ttabel = 1,980. 2) Terdapat pengaruh langsung yang signifikan penguasaan kosakata  terhadap kemampuan memahami teks report bahasa Inggris siswa SMP Negeri di Kabupaten Indramayu. Hal tersebut dapat dibuktikan oleh nilai thitung = 5,320 > ttabel = 1,980. 3) Terdapat pengaruh langsung yang signifikan minat baca terhadap penguasaan kosakata siswa SMP Negeri di Jakarta Pusat . Hal tersebut dapat dibuktikan oleh nilai thitung = 3,632 > ttabel = 1,980. 4) Terdapat pengaruh tidak langsung yang tidak signifikan minat baca terhadap kemampuan memahami teks report bahasa Inggris melalui penguasaan kosakata siswa SMP Negeri di Kabupaten Indramayu. Hal ini dibuktikan oleh nilai thitung = 0,183 > ttabel = 1,980.

Abstract

This study examines the role-playing techniques used on English for Business students at Cipasung Tasikmalaya University West Java. This study aims to know how can role playing technique affect the student’s learning outcome. The participants in this study are 84 students who take English for Business subject. Classroom Action Research (CAR) was used in this study. This study was carried out in two cycles, with four meetings for each cycle. Data are gathered by questionnaires, interviews, observations, and evaluations. According to the study's findings, it can be deduced that only 30 students, or 35.71%, achieved mastery individually in the first cycle (average of 52.7). In cycle II, the average score is higher at 79.6, with 77 students or 91.67% of them achieving mastery on their own. Therefore, it can be said that using a role-playing technique help Cipasung Tasikmalaya University students learn English more effectively.

Abstract

The phenomenon of bullying is widespread in society and involves a group of people or individuals which is often triggered by pressure from both social norms and class levels in society, making someone a perpetrator or passive observer of bullying behavior. This research is a qualitative study that observes the role of parents in dealing with bullying, and the representation of bullying that occurs in the drama "The Glory" by Kim Eun Sook and "Pyramid Game" by Choi So-i using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis by explaining the meaning of connotation, denotation and myth. Based on the research results, the role of parents in acts of bullying in the form of negative responses is represented more in the drama "The Glory" by Kim Eun Sook with 71% of views, while the representation of acts of bullying from both dramas shows verbal bullying as much as 44% in the drama "Pyramid Game" by Choi So-I.
