Abstract

The main focus of the present work was to study corn skin as reinforcement of polyester bio-composite (CSPCs). The effect of reinforcement type, i.e. short fibers and discontinuous chips, on the tensile properties was studied. The corn skin materials were chemically treated with NaOH and added as reinforcement of polyester bio-composite using the hand lay-up fabrication method. Tensile tests were carried out according to ASTM D3039. The tensile strength characteristics of stress and modulus showed a different behavior between the two types of reinforcement due to a slight difference in specimen thickness, which affected the calculated stress and modulus values. Furthermore, from a physical properties point of view, the larger surface area of CSC compared to CSF, which still contains a lignin layer after the treatment with NaOH, could decrease the interfacial bonding between polyester as the matrix and CSC as the reinforcement. The tensile damage characteristics showed brittle behavior, propagataing perpendicular to the loading direction. Matrix cracking and interfacial debonding were identified as the main two damage modes of the CSF bio-composite and the CSC bio-composite, where the final failure was dominated by fiber pull out and chip fracture.

Abstract

Zona perairan Atapupu merupakan daerah perikanan yang sangat potensial dan mempunyai peranan penting bagi SDM di kabupaten Belu khususnya daerah Atapupu, letak geografis pulau timor berbatasan langsung dengan Timor Leste. ini merupakan posisi yang sangat strategis bagi masyarakat sekitar, khususnya bagi nelayan. Adapun positif dan negatif bagi nelayan penangkap ikan, namun dari segi negatif bagi nelayan penangkap ikan ialah sering tertangkap oleh petugas patroli dari Timor Leste, hal ini terjadi karena kurangnya pengetahuan tentang zona perairan batas wilayah RI-RDTL. Oleh karena itu perlu adanya sosialisasi hukum maritim terkait zona batas wilayah perbatasan. Pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan oleh permesinan kapal FLM Unhan RI, menggunakan metode ceramah, diskusi dan tanya jawab, dari pengabdian tersebut disimpulkan bahwa sosialisasi terkait Hukum maritim sangat bermanfaat bagi nelayan karena dapat mengerti dan memahami tentang peraturan hukum maritim antara lain hubungan hukum antar negara tentang persoalan kemaritiman, hubungan antar negara dan orang, hubungan hukum atar negara dengan badan hukum maritim, hubungan antar badan hukum maritim dengan nakhoda dan awak kapal lain.

Abstract

Metal-based biomaterials are highly rust-resistant. A key property that metal-based biomaterials must possess is excellent biocompatibility with living cells. AISI 316L is widely used for implantation purposes in orthopedic surgery due to its good mechanical properties and low price, but AISI 316L lacks good biocompability with the body so that implant materials with AISI 316L material cannot be used for a long period of time. This research aims to study the effect of TiN sputtering process on AISI 316L stainless steel material and titanium target material as a coating on the surface. The sputtering process was carried out on the 316L surface a variation of sputtering time of 60, 90, 120 and 150 minutes with a gas variation ratio of 20% N2 and 30% N2, using a voltage of 5 kV and the current used was 5-10 mA at a pressure of 0.079 mbar. The results of hardness testing on 316L material with TiN sputtering treatment can increase the hardness on the surface of the material. The surface hardness value of the effect 30% N2 gas ratio and sputtering duration of 90, 120 and 150 minutes respectively is 305 kgf/mm­2, 310 kgf/mm2 and 334 kgf/mm2, this treatment has significant increase in hardness at 90, 120, and 150 minutes. Microstructure testing to measure the thickness of the electroplating layer results, showing that the thickness of the layer resulting from the sputtering process with a gas ratio of 30% N2 and a TiN sputtering duration of 120 minutes shows there are vacancies on the surface inserted by hard TiN atoms.

Abstract

In the aluminum casting process, the resulting cast product still has defects that affect the quality of mechanical properties, so it is necessary to perform the final processing by electrolysis with nickel-chromium. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of nickel-chromium coating on the results of used aluminum casting products with electrical voltages of 5, 7.5, 9 volts and times of 5, 10, 15 seconds. From the test results, it is shown that at electrical voltage of 5 and 7.5 volts with time of 5, 10, 15 seconds and at electrical voltage of 9 volts with time of 5 seconds, the hardness value is still in the nickel hardness range, while at electrical voltage of 9 volts with time of 10 and 15 seconds, it is already in the chromium hardness range. When testing the surface roughness, a decrease of 39.36% was observed after 5 seconds, a decrease of 49.70% after 10 seconds and a decrease of 63.90% after 15 seconds. These results show that the roughness level of the nickel-chromium coating is already in the surface roughness range of the finishing or final machining. The highest wear value was at 5 seconds at a voltage of 5 volts, namely 9.86E-07 mm2/kg. The lowest wear value was at 15 seconds at a voltage of 9 volts, namely 2.213E-07 mm2/kg. Therefore, nickel-chromium coating is known to increase the wear resistance of the coated material.

Abstract

Magrove merupakan salah satu tanaman khas di daerah tropis yang mampu tumbuh didarat dan di laut, serta sangat baik untuk menjaga keseimbangan ekosistem pantai. Saat ini banyak lokasi pantai yang sudah rusak ekosistem mangrovenya, sehingga perlu rehabilitasi mangrove. Peran dan fungsi mangrove bagi lingkungan perlu disoaialisasikan kepada masyarakat sekitar. Kegiatan pengabdian ini ditujukan untuk mensosialisasikan peran dan fungsi mangrove di masyarakat sekitar dusun Susuk Kec. Kakuluk Mesak Kabupaten belu. Metode yang digunakan adalah sosialisasi, diskusi dan demonstrasi. Hasil Pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat menjadi peduli dan mengetahui tentang arti pentingnya ekosistem mangrove bagi kehidupan manusia, disamping itu kesadaran dan peran serta tanggung jawab masyarakat sekitar untuk ikut menjaga lingkungan juga ikut meningkat dan terciptanya kerjasama yang baik anatara prodi permesinan kapal dengan masyarakat.

Abstract

Kelompok Nelayan Desa Kletek, merupakan salah satu kelompok nelayan potensial, karena kelompok mereka merupakan salah satu penyuplai hasil ikan terbesar di kab Malaka provinsi Nusa tenggara timur. Karena keberhasilan tersebut mereka di hibahi beberapa perahu fiberglas dengan tujuan untuk lebih mengotimlkan hasil tangkapan mereka. Namun sayang beberapa perahu trsebut mengalami cacat operasi sehingga dibiarkan begitu saja. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memgoptimlkan kembali fungsi kapal dengan cara melatih nelayan desa keletek untuk memperbaiki dan merawat perahu fiber tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode sosialisasi dan praktik. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan pengabdian ini yaitu mampu meningkatkan keterampilan nelayan dalam hal mengidentifikasikan jenis cacat pada bodi perahu fiber, mengenal karakter material dan mampu menggunakan peralatan perbaikan bodi perahu fiber, mampu memetakan area kerja, membuat campuran gelcoat dan melakukan proses perbaikan bodi dengan benar.

Abstract

Pengelasan merupakan proses penyambungan peralatan material benda logam yang digunakan dalm konstruksi bangunan maupun konstruksi peralatan mesin dimana pengunan elektroda las san berpengaruh pad material yg disambungkan. Dengan penerapan pada material Baja St 40 dan elektroda berdiameter Ø 2,6 mm maka dari hasil penelitian ini menunjukan analisa bahwa pnggunaan bahan pengelasan Elektroda Ø 26 mm memiliki kekuatan tarik yang lebih baik (96,7 kg/mm). Tegangan Nominal yang dihasilkan dari hail pengelasan menggunkan elektroda Ø 26 mm adalah sebesar 90,72 kg/mm², Regangan yang dihasilkan apabilai bandingkan dengan pengelasan dasar maka didapat hasil sebesar 0,75 kg/mm², Sedangkan reduksi yang dihasilkan sebesar 6,2 kg/mm². hal ini menunjukan bahwa pengunaan elektroda Ø 26 mm masih menjadi rekomendasi dalam penggunaannya

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the methods of inspection, testing, and application of occupational safety and health (OHS) to pressure vessels in industry. occupational safety and health (K3) on pressure vessels in industry. Inspection and testing are closely related to ensuring the structural integrity and operational safety of pressure vessels. Occupational safety and health is a primary focus to prevent workplace accidents and protect employees. Methods This research involved a survey of current inspection and testing inspection and testing practices, as well as analyzing data from incidents of work-related accidents and illnesses. incidents. In addition, the Air Compressor Tank Pressure Vessel Test Inspection was conducted at the PT X location is a periodic test check. Based on Minister of Manpower Regulation No. 37 Year 2016, the periodic test inspection stage consists of work activities, namely Document Inspection, Visual Inspection and NDT Testing. Documents, Visual Examination and NDT Testing, the results showed that Physical/Visual Inspection of the weld area found no weld defects, NDT (Non Destructive Test) Inspection of the weld. NDT (Non Destructive Test) Ultra sonic Wallthickness Testing on the plate was not found. found a difference in thickness (even thickness), Inspection of operating pressure in the weld area - Nozzle weld, Valve no indication of leaking was found. Abstract

The CNC cutting process at PT XYZ produces emissions and heat controlled by a sliding hood. However, its manual operation—requiring operators to push a 69.65 kg device up to 30 times daily—creates fatigue, discomfort, and low tool utilization. This highlights a gap where automation is often applied for efficiency but rarely combined with ergonomic improvements. This study aims to develop and test an automated sliding hood to increase efficiency and reduce ergonomic risks. The Shigley-Mitchell design methodology was applied, supported by observation, interviews, and performance testing before and after modification. Key indicators measured were cycle time, tool effectiveness, and ergonomic risk using the RULA method. Results showed a decrease in cycle time from 57.28 to 46.65 seconds (18.6% efficiency gain). Tool effectiveness rose from 27 to 44 successful operations out of 45, while RULA scores improved from 7 (high risk) to 3 (low risk), indicating a 58% ergonomic improvement. In conclusion, automating the sliding hood enhanced work efficiency, optimized equipment use, and improved ergonomic conditions. This demonstrates the value of integrating automation with ergonomic design to achieve productivity and health benefits in manufacturing.
