Abstract

Motivation is defined as an impetus that moves and directs a person to do something based on what he wants, which is aimed at the goal he wants. IQ (intelligence quotient) itself is a test result that shows the cognitive abilities possessed by individuals to learn new experiences, reason well and solve problems effectively. The discussion about motivation and IQ is quite interesting for many parties, especially when comparing it with success in life, including success in learning language. The results of theoretical studies and previous studies show that both motivation and IQ have a large influence on language learning. However, motivation has more significant effect than IQ in determining the success of language learners. There are several causative factors, namely every language learning always begins with motivation, while IQ is only a support in smooth language acquisition; and motivation has a close relationship with other factors such as self-confidence, high curiosity, optimism, courage, and so on; and language learners who have high IQs but are not motivated to learn languages ​​will tend to be less enthusiastic and not serious.

Abstract

The enactment of regional government law number 32 of 2004 has had a major impact on the structure of village government. To run village government effectively, efficient administrative arrangements are crucial. Regulation of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 47 of 2016 stipulates the framework of village administration, covering general affairs, population, finance, development, and village deliberative bodies. However, the lack of understanding of computer technology in Essang Village, Sumenep Regency prompted the KKN 27 team to hold a village administration training program with a participatory approach. The method used was to conduct participatory training and mentoring for village staff and officials in several activities including counseling and preparation of practical guidebooks. The results of this activity were an increase in the skills of village officials in using computer technology for village governance. Thus, there was efficiency and transparency in village administration in Esang, Talango District, Sumenep Regency.

Abstract

Students' abilities in writing scientific papers must continue to be improved. Utilizing a reference manager using Mendeley is one way to improve the quality of scientific writing. However, there are quite a few students who do not know and understand the optimal use of reference managers. The aim of this research is to analyze the implementation of reference manager training using Mendeley for students at Trunojoyo University, Madura. The method used is descriptive qualitative by observing training on the use of reference managers in the form of Mendeley for writing student final assignments. The results of this research show that students have different abilities in using Mendeley for writing final assignments. There are some students who already have Mendeley accounts and software. With reference manager training, students are expected to be able to write their final assignments well and with quality.

Abstract

Permainan anak-anak merupakan tradisi turun-temurun yang dilakukan masyarakat di Indonesia, termasuk di Madura. Salah satu jenis permainan tradisional tersebut ialah yang berbentuk lagu permainan anak-anak. Lagu permainan anak “Lar Olar Kolarjhang” merupakan lagu tradisional yang dimiliki oleh Masyarakat Madura. Lagu permainan anak “Lar-Olar Kolarjang” ini mirip atau memiliki nama lain di daerah-daerah yang lain. Adapun nama-nama tersebut antara lain Wak Wak Gung (Jakarta), Slepdur (Sulawesi Utara), Ancak-Ancak Alis (Jawa Tengah), Sledor (Jawa Timur), Oray-Orayan (Jawa Barat), Curik-Curik (Bali), Toko-Toko Dian (Palopo, Sulawesi Selatan). Lagu ini memiliki nilai filosofis yang dipegang teguh dan diwariskan secara turun temurun dari generasi ke generasi. Adapun nilai-nilai tersebut yakni nilai kebersamaan, nilai penghargaan terhadap diri sendiri dan orang lain, serta nilai kepemimpinan baik bagi diri sendiri maupun orang lain. Nilai-nilai inilah yang menjadikan lagu permainan anak “Lar Olar Kolarjhang” perlu untuk dilestarikan dan diajarkan ke generasi muda agar dijadikan pegangan hidup, baik secara khusus bagi masyarakat Madura maupun masyarakat luas lainnya di Indonesia.

Abstract

This article aims to describe the majas satire according to its type in the poem entitled Sajak Sebatang Lisong by WS. Rendra. This article uses descriptive qualitative research methods with reading and note-taking techniques. The results of this article are 21 data that show the majas sindiran, namely 3 majas cynisme, 7 majas sarcasm, 5 majas irony, 3 majas satire, and 3 majas innuendo. Thus, the most dominating sarcasm in the poem entitled Sajak Sebatang Lisong by WS. Rendra is sarcasm. In the world of education, especially literary education, style is important in shaping distinctive characteristics, character, ethics, and critical thinking. Style distinguishes one writer from another. Therefore, language style plays a role in the world of education, just as language plays a crucial role in various fields, including education, politics, society, and economics. Through language style, particularly satirical figures of speech, one can reveal a person's character and ethics in satire. A person may satirize subtly or directly. This reveals a person's character and ethics, which are reflected through the language style they use. In addition, style can train critical thinking through the language it uses. Poetry, for example, requires critical thinking to understand its meaning because of its dense use of language.

Abstract

The use of Learning Management System (LMS) has become an important part in supporting learning in higher education. The main problem underlying this research is the limited understanding of the impact of LMS on the development of students' language skills, especially at the higher education level. This study aims to explore the impact of LMS on the development of students' language skills. Qualitative research methods with a case study approach are used to deeply understand the experiences of students and lecturers in using LMS. By triangulating data collected from observations, interviews, and document analysis, this study attempts to present a comprehensive picture of the implementation of LMS in language education. The data obtained in this study were analyzed thematically. The results of the study indicate that LMS features such as discussion forums, collaborative assignments, and automatic feedback contribute significantly to improving students' writing, speaking, and reading skills. In conclusion, LMS plays an important role in supporting the development of language skills, but the optimization of the use of these features needs to be considered. This study is expected to provide insight for teachers and LMS developers in creating more effective learning strategies.
