Abstract

In 1970 the Rome Club cooperated with Massachussets Institute of Technology Team and Potomac Associates to publish a term paper titled "The Limits to Growth". The paper consist of the identification of main problems faced by human being on global level and what people should do in order to avoid those problems bocoming more dangerous. In accordance with The Limits to Growth, there are five trends to be global danger i.e. the increasingness of industrialization, the quickness of population growth, the wideningness of malnutritio, the decreasingness of irrenewable naturalresources, and the last but not the least is that the quality living environment become more decreasing.

Abstract

Since Indonesia declared its sovereignty and its independence in 1945, relations between Christians and Muslims in this country has been characterized by cooperation, tension and competition. Until the 1960s the number of Muslims about 90 percent of the entire population, but in the early 1990s this figure dropped to 87.5 percent. Two and a half percent of the 185 million people is about 4.5 million, and of course the number is not small. Tension and often coloring competition relations between the two religions up to now, and keep in mind that the future Indonesia will depend largely on the direction and prospects between Christianity and Islam.DOI: 10.15408/sdi.v2i1.842

Abstract

Abstract: Teaching science as inquiry is one of the ways to increase student thinking skill. Furthermore, factual and contextual phenomena is needed in inquiry. Analysis of ovulation rate gene research is suitable phenomenon to teach genetics as inquiry. This study is aimed to develop inquiry genetics instructional design based on analysis of ovulation rate gene research. The instructional design had been validated by science/educational experts, and education practitioners (genetics lecture). The results of the validation showed the following scores: 100% (very valid) for material expert, 94,7% (very valid) for the learning expert, and 80% (valid) for field practitioner. Abstrak: Membelajarkan sains dengan menggunakan model inkuiri adalah salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir mahasiswa. Fenomena faktual dan kontekstual diperlukan dalam pembelajaran inkuiri. Penelitian analisis variasi gen laju ovulasi diketahui sangat sesuai sebagai fenomena untuk membelajarkan matakuliah genetika secara inkuiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan desain instruksional pembelajaran genetika berbasis inkuiri berdasarkan hasil penelitian analisis variasi gen laju ovulasi. Desain instruksional telah divalidasi oleh ahli materi, ahli pembelajaran dan praktisi lapang. Hasil validasi menunjukkan skor 100%  (sangat valid) untuk ahli materi, 94,7% (sangat valid) untuk ahli pembelajaran dan 83,8% (Cukup valid) untuk praktisi lapangan.

Abstract

Teknik dasar yang harus dikuasi pada saat melaksanakan penelitian secara molekuler adalah isolasi DNA genom. Isolasi DNA bertujuan untuk memisahkan DNA dari komponen lainnya seperti lipid, protein, dan polisakarida. Secara umum, tahapan isolasi DNA untuk berbagai bahan adalah sebagai berikut : lisis sel atau jaringan yang efektif, denaturasi kompleks nukleoprotein, dan inaktivasi nuklease. Akan tetapi bahan yang berbeda akan membutuhkan metode yang berbeda juga. Salah satu jaringan yang sulit untuk dilakukan isolasi DNA adalah jaringan hewan.Jaringan hewan memiliki lemak dan protein yang sangat banyak sehingga dapat mengkontaminasi DNA itu sendiri.Tahapan lisis adalah tahapan penting yang mempengaruhi kesuksesan isolasi DNA hewan. Terdapat berbagai macam cara yang dapat dilakukan untuk melisiskan sel dan jaringan. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan perbandingan proses lisis dengan 4 perlakuan yang berbeda yakni lisis dengan menggunakan teknik Sambrook (1987) dimana jaringan di inkubasi dengan suhu 55 oC selama 12 jam, lisis dengan dengan metode Penggerusan yakni menggunakan mortar dan prestel, lisis dengan suhu 65 oC dalam inkubasi selama 2 jam, dan lisis dengan suhu 80 oC dalam inkubasi selama 10 menit. Setelah tahapan lisis selesai, ke empat perlakuan di ekstraksi dengan metode organik (Phenol Chlorofom Isoamyl Alcohol25 : 24 : 1), DNA kemudian cuci dengan menggunakan ETOH 70% dan pelet DNA dilarutkan dengan menggunakan buffer TE. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa teknik Sambrook menunjukkan hasil yang lebih baik, berikutnya metode inkubasi 65 derajat selama 2 jam yang menunjukkan hasil baik, sementara metode lisis dengan mortar dan prestel, maupun dengan inkubasi 80 derajat selama 10 menit tidak menunjukkan hasi yang baik akibat terjadi kerusakan DNA.

Abstract

Paradigm change in 21st century poses a challange for higher education in teaching science as inquiry. In another side, teaching science as inquiry meet some problem because of every student in the classroom was different. This research is aimed to know effectiveness of differentiated science inquiry based on research results of gene variation analysis in genetics course to increase students cognitive learning outcome. This research used pre-experimental research design on one class that consist of 26 biology students. Statistical analysis used in this study is paired sample t-test on pre-test and post-test to measure students cognitive learning outcomes. If there are significances between the pretest and posttest, data analysis was continue to N-Gain score to determine the increasing category of students cognitive learning outcome. The average pretest score was 64,3 and posttest score was 77,2. The statistical analysis result showed there was a significant difference between students cognitive learning outcome (p<0,005), meanwhile the N-Gain score between pretest and postest is 36,2 and categorized a medium criteria. That result mean although there are difference students learning outcome before and after learning by using differentiated science inquiry model based on research result of gene variation analysis, that learning is not too recommended to increase students cognitive learning outcome.

Abstract

Kesulitan dalam menguasai konsep Biologi sering kali dikaitkan dengan banyaknya materi yang harusdipahami sehingga pada akhirnya dalam mempelajarinya lebih menekankan pada teknik menghafal.Pelajar umumnya memiliki berbagai gaya belajar yang berbeda saat mempelajari konsep tertentu.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan antara gaya belajar denganpengetahuan awal mengenai konsep Biologi dasar. Gaya belajar diukur menggunakan angket VARKsedangkan pengetahuan awal diukur dengan menggunakan soal Biologi dasar dengan tipe pilihan ganda.Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan Korelasi Spearman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwasemua dimensi gaya belajar tidak memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan pengetahuan awal Biologi (p> 0,05). Terdapat hubungan signifikan antar dimensi gaya belajar Auditori dan Read/Write sertahubungan sedang antara Auditori dan Kinestetik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaransebaiknya tidak hanya didasarkan pada gaya belajar individu, tetapi juga mempertimbangkan faktor lainseperti motivasi dan metode pengajaran.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the imbibition rate of bean seeds (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) through soaking in distilled water (aquades) for 32 hours. The imbibition process was observed by measuring the seed weight every two hours using a digital scale. A total of 25 seeds were used for each replication, with five replications conducted. The results showed that water uptake occurred rapidly during the first 8 hours and then slowed down and showed no further imbibition activity until the 32nd hour. The data revealed a characteristic imbibition curve pattern, providing valuable insights for pre-sowing seed treatment to enhance germination efficiency. This research is important to determine how long farmers should soak seeds before planting to achieve optimal germination while preventing excessive soaking that may cause seed rot.

Abstract

This study was conducted because students' HOTS is still relatively low because students are still unable to follow the HOTS learning pattern. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in students' HOTS after the application of the PBL model assisted by KOKAMI media on the Earth and Solar System material. This study used a quasi-experimental design method and was carried out at SMPN 1 Pasean. The study population was all grade VII students in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. Sampling used a purposive sampling technique. The sample used was class VII-A. The analysis technique for increasing students' HOTS used the N-gain test. The results of the study showed that there was an increase in students' HOTS after the application of the PBL model assisted by KOKAMI with an average n-gain result of 0.71 in the high category.

Abstract

Rendahnya keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa berada pada pencapaian oleh kegiatan pembelajaran yang masih didominasi oleh aktivitas guru dan penggunaan bahan terbuka belum optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa sebelum dan setelah diterapkan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbantuan e-modul. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMPN 1 Tragah. Populasi dalam penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMPN 1 Tragah dan penelitian sebanyak 25 siswa dengan teknik pengambilan sampel secara purposive sampling. Metode Penelitian adalah Pra-eksperimen dengan desain one grup pretest posttest design. Analisis peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa menggunakan uji N-Gain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa mengalami peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis setelah diterapkan model PBL berbantuan e-module.
