Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of service quality and motivation to the consumption behavior of students in utilizing academic services. This research involved 87 students of Economic Education Study Program in University of Jambi, Indonesia. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling with partial least squares technique (SEM-PLS). Student consumption behavior is an illustration of the level of satisfaction in utilizing academic services provided by universities. Satisfaction with academic services is a measure of the success of higher education performance in providing education. A good indicator of consumer behavior variables, namely making the University of Jambi academic services the best choice and choosing them as institutions of higher education to meet learning needs on an ongoing basis. The quality of academic services is shown by indicators of the reliability of officers in providing academic services, accuracy in the delivery of information, responsiveness in responding to complaints and student requests and harmonization of service relationships between officers and students. While consumption motivation is indicated by an indicator of trust in the services consumed it will facilitate the completion of academic affairs and the existence of attractive offers from higher education institutions. The quality of academic services has a significant effect on consumer behavior of students. Moreover, the consumption motivation variable is proven to be a significant mediator on the effect of service quality on student’s consumption behavior.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the contribution of Economic Mathematics in learning Microeconomic Theory in the Economics Education Study Program of Jambi University. The research was conducted using the exposed pacto method. Data obtained from student learning outcomes and analyzed using Path Analysis techniques. The results of the analysis show that the competence of Economic Mathematics has a very significant contribution in learning Micro Economic Theory and is a mediator of the relationship between learning Introduction to Economics and learning Micro Economics Theory. Studying Microeconomic Theory will be more effective if students understand the basic concepts of economics and are supported by the ability to analyze Mathematical Economics. Thus, the course of Introduction to Economics and Economic Metrics must be a prerequisite for learning Micro Emonomics Theory. DOI: https://dx.doi.org/10.17977/UM014v14i22021p106

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of education and unemployment on poverty in Jambi Province. This study uses quantitative methods to analyze the impact of the average length of schooling, expected years of schooling, and the open unemployment rate on poverty in Jambi Province for the 2017-2019 period. The subjects of this study were residents of every district and city in Jambi Province. The type of data in this study is secondary data obtained and collected indirectly from the object under investigation. The things of this research are nine districts and two cities in Jambi province for the period 2017-2019 from the official portal of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Jambi Province. The data used are the average length of schooling (RLS), expected years of education (HLS), and the open unemployment rate (TPT), and the number of poor people in Jambi Province in the 2017-2019 period. The results of the study show that education and unemployment simultaneously affect poverty in Jambi Province

Abstract

This study aims to determine the factors that influence student learning outcomes and the level of efficiency of the use of these inputs. Respondents in this study were the recipients of the 2015 - 2017 Bidikmisi class at the PIPS Department of the University of Jambi FKIP, namely 53 people. This study uses quantitative methods. Data were analyzed using the Stochastic frontier production function approach. The results showed that, first the use of books / modules had a positive and significant effect on the learning output of bidikmisi recipient students. Second the use of material photocopy material has a positive and significant effect on learning output. And, third, the use of pulses for internet access has a positive and significant effect. The level of student learning efficiency in using learning inputs averaged 94 percent. Student learning inefficiency is influenced by organizational activities and interaction with Bidikmisi managers, significant at α = 5 percent.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of entrepreneurial experience and motivation on the success of students of the Jambi University Entrepreneurship Student Program (ESP). This research uses the ex post facto method. The subjects in this study were students who received ESP Program funding in 2018, totaling 50 business groups. Data were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively using multiple regression. Statistical test results show the accuracy of the model as a predictor of 44 percent. The experience of entrepreneurship has a positive and significant effect on the success of student ventures. Entrepreneurial motivation does not affect the success of student ventures. Simultaneously entrepreneur experience and entrepreneurial motivation have a positive and significant effect on the success of student ventures. The results of this study recommend that ESP program managers be more selective in determining students who receive start-up business funds to be more productive and efficient. Future research should examine other factors that influence the success of student efforts to produce more comprehensive studies as a basis for policy.

Abstract

The decision to purchase reference books is a form of a student's positive attitude in meeting learning needs. This study was conducted to analyze the effect of product and price perceptions on reference book purchasing decisions. This research was conducted on 80 students of the Jambi University Economic Education Study Program class of 2017. Data were obtained from the results of a survey using a questionnaire. The data were analyzed using the logit regression model because the dependent variable data were categorical (buying and not buying). The results of the analysis show that product perception has a significant influence on purchasing decisions for reference books at an error rate (alpha) of 5 percent. Student perceptions of price also significantly influence the decision to purchase reference books at an error level (alpha) of 5 percent. Taken together, product perception and price significantly influence the purchasing decision of reference books. Thus, it is recommended for students to make the right decision by understanding the quality and usefulness of reference books to meet their learning needs and supported by adequate purchasing power.

Abstract

Dampak krisis global yang terjadi pada tahun 2008 hingga 2010 terhadap perekonomian Indonesia mengakibatkan nilai tukar rupiah mengalami fluktuasi. Beberapa indikator ekonomi yang berkontribusi mengakibatkan berfluktuasinya nilai tukar rupiah adalah Indeks Harga Konsumen (IHK), jumlah uang yang beredar (M1), Indeks Produksi Industri (IIP), dan suku bunga SBI. Untuk mengetahui hubungan keseimbangan jangka panjang antara variabel independen dan variabel dependen tersebut seperti yang diharapkan oleh teori penentuan nilai tukar (kurs) dengan menggunakan pendekatan moneter akan dipergunakan metode analisis koreksi kesalahan pengganggu atau Error Correction Model (ECM). Dalam jangka panjang, stabilitas nilai tukar rupiah selain dipengaruhi oleh faktor IHK, IIP, M1 dan SBI juga dipengaruhi oleh variabel error term εt. Hasil estimasi dengan  ECM menunjukan bahwa koefisien εt sangat signifikan untuk ditempatkan di dalam model sebagai kreksi jangka pendek untuk mencapai keseimbangan dalam jangka panjang, yaitu sebesar -0,384193 yang menunjukan bahwa nilai exchange rate pada saat penelitian ini dilakukan berada di atas nilai jangka panjangnya, sehingga perlu dikoreksi setiap bulannya sebesar 0,384193 untuk mencapai keseimbangan dalam jangka panjang.

Abstract

Studi ini membahas kelayakan finansial usaha pengolahan produk turunan kelapa, yaitu pengolahan minyak goreng, sabut kelapa dan arang tempurung sebagai upaya untuk mengetahui tingkat kelayakan pengembangannya di Provinsi Jambi. Hasil analisis finansial pada tingkat discount factor 15,5 persen menunjukan bahwa ketiga usaha tersebut layak untuk dikembangkan di Kabupaten Tanjung Jabung Barat. Hasil analisis finansial pada usaha pengolahan minyak goreng diperoleh nilai NPV sebesar Rp 636.815.058, IRR 53,69 persen, Net B/C Ratio 2,48, dan PBP usaha selama 3 tahun 4 bulan. Pada usaha pengolahan sabut kelapa diperoleh nilai NPV sebesar Rp 1.225.707, Net B/C Ratio sebesar 4,05, IRR sebesar 89,79 persen, dan PBP usaha selama 1 tahun 7 bulan. Pada usaha pengolahan arang tempurung diperoleh nilai NPV sebesar Rp 984.168.415, Net B/C Ratio sebesar 8,37, IRR sebesar 189,36 persen, dan PBP usaha selama 8 bulan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kualitas layanan dan citra sekolah terhadap loyalitas stakeholder Sekolah Islam Al-Falah Kota Jambi. Jenis Penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah stakeholder Sekolah Islam Al-Falah Kota Jambi, yaitu orang tua siswa, sebanyak 58 orang yang dipilih secara proporsional dari setiap kelas. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan metode wawancara dan observasi. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dan kuantitatif menggunakan regresi berganda. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar (56,9%) stakeholder memiliki persepsi yang tinggi tentang kualitas layanan yang diberikan oleh Sekolah Islam Al-Falah Kota Jambi. Terdapat 51,7 persen Stakeholder menilai Citra Sekolah Islam Al-Falah Kota Jambi Sangat Baik dan terdapat 56,9 persen Stakeholder memiliki loyalitas tinggi terhadap Sekolah Islam Al-Falah Kota Jambi. Hasil uji statistic menunjukan kemampuan model dalam memprediksikan pengaruh persepsi stakeholder dan citra sekolah terhadap loyalitas sebesar 53 persen. Kualitas layanan berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap loyalitas stakeholder yang ditunjukan oleh koefisien thit 2,783 > ttab,1,67. Citra sekolah berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap loyalitas stakeholder yang ditunjukan oleh koefisien thit 2,518 > 1,67 ttab. Secara simultan, kualitas layanan dan citra sekolah berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap loyalitas yang ditunjukan oleh koefisien Fhit 33,033 > Ftab 3,16. Untuk meningkatkan loyalitas stakeholder, Sekolah Islam Al-falah Kota Jambi harus meningkatkan citra sekolah dan kualitas layanan kepada stakeholder.

Abstract

Kendala yang sering terjadi dalam proses pembelajaran adalah penerapan model pembelajaran yang tidak sesuai dengan karakteristik peserta didik dan materi yang diajarkan. Agar mahasiswa berminat mengikuti pembelajaran perlu didukung dengan model yang menarik, sehingga dapat meningkatkan keberhasilan belajar. Tujuan penelitian ini berupaya meningkatkan minat belajar mahasiswa mengikuti pembelajaran Pancasila melalui penerapan model Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah (Problem Based Learning (PBL)). Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut digunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (Classroom Action Research). Berdasarkan hasil tindakan kelas yang telah dilakukan menunjukan adanya peningkatan minat belajar pada setiap siklusnya. Pada siklus I, penerapan model PBL belum maksimal (56%) menyebabkan sebagian besar mahasiswa (38%) mahasiswa masih kurang berminat menngikuti pembelajaran Pancasila. Pada siklus II, penerapan model PBL ditingkatkan (72%), minat belajar mahasiswa meningkat (54%). Pada siklus III, sebagaian besar mahasiswa (67%) memiliki minat belajar yang baik setelah model PBL ditingkatkan penerapnya hingga mencapai 88 persen. Model PBL akan efektif dalam meningkatkan minat belajar mahasiswa apabila penerapannya dilakukan dengan baik sesuai dengan prosedur dan karakteristik mahasiswa.
