Abstract

This study aims to examine the representation of character education values in the film Home Sweet Loan and its implications for teaching Indonesian language in secondary schools. As a form of modern literature, film has the potential not only to serve as entertainment but also as an educational medium that conveys moral messages and life values. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through observation and note-taking of scenes, dialogues, and character interactions in the film. The collected data were then analyzed through the stages of reduction, classification based on categories of character values, interpretation of dialogue context, and conclusion drawing to identify dominant value patterns. The findings reveal 11 data excerpts that represent five main character education values, namely responsibility, honesty, self-awareness, justice, and family communication. These values are reflected through the dialogues and actions of the main character, particularly in facing economic pressures, patriarchal cultural dominance, and adolescent identity crises. The results indicate that Home Sweet Loan is not only relevant as a reflection of the social reality of today’s youth but also effective as a teaching medium in Indonesian language learning that integrates cognitive, affective, and moral aspects of students. This study is expected to enrich the literature on character education through a contextual, film-based approach and provide alternative learning media that are engaging and meaningful for students.

Abstract

This study aims to collect, analyze, and expand the theory of style contained in the novel Si Anak Spesial by Tere Liye, focusing on stylistic features that characterize children’s literature in the text. The study examines how stylistic elements are constructed through simple language and adapted narrative forms within the novel. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative using a stylistic approach. The data in this study include phrases, sentences, and conversations. The data source in this study comes from the novel entitled Si Anak Spesial by Tere Liye. Data collection techniques in this study include literature studies, notes, and analysis. The data analysis stage in this study includes three steps: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal 15 stylistic data consisting of five instances of simple lexical language, five instances of simple syntactic structures, three instances of adapted narrative forms in the form of phrases, and two instances of adapted characterization patterns. The analysis shows that the stylistic construction of the novel is dominated by simple syntactic structures and adapted narrative elements, which function to facilitate comprehension for child readers. These stylistic characteristics demonstrate how linguistic simplicity and narrative adaptation operate as key strategies in shaping children’s literature.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze genetic structuralism in the novel Egosentris by Syahid Muhammad by focusing on structural elements, human facts, and the author’s worldview. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with the novel Egosentris serving as the primary data source. The research population consists of the entire content of the novel, while the sample comprises selected textual excerpts relevant to the genetic structuralism approach. The data are in the form of quotations that represent structural elements, human facts, and the author’s worldview, which were collected through intensive reading and systematic note-taking techniques. The researcher acts as the main research instrument, supported by data classification tables. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis by relating the structure of the literary work to its social context, the author’s background, and the worldview underlying the creation of the novel. The results indicate that 67 relevant excerpts were identified, consisting of 60 excerpts related to structural elements such as theme, plot, characters and characterization, setting, point of view, and moral values that dominate the narrative development, 3 excerpts reflecting human facts in the form of psychological conflicts, social relations, and social pressures experienced by the characters, and 4 excerpts representing the author’s worldview that convey criticism of egocentric attitudes, a lack of empathy, and the search for personal identity in social life. These findings confirm that the novel Egosentris demonstrates a close relationship between literary structure and the author’s social reality as examined through the genetic structuralism approach.
