Abstract

Used cooking oil is a liquid material produced from the use of oil for frying. This oil is often not reused and is simply thrown into the environment. If you throw it in the sink it will cause a blockage. Throwing it out in the open causes pollution. The dedication aims to train junior high school teachers in managing used cooking oil into aromatherapy candles in various colors. 25 teachers were involved in the competition. They are spread across two schools in Bintuni district, West Papua. Data was collected using a questionnaire. The results of the service show that they are 100% interested in the activities they have carried out. Most of their knowledge (86.96%) is very good in managing used cooking oil into products with useful value. The other percentage shows good understanding. The results of the service indicate that junior high school teachers have succeeded in absorbing information and improving their skills in producing aromatherapy candle products from used oil.

Abstract

This research aims to compile and develop a frame of mind related to field guidance on croton plants in Morphometric courses. This is motivated by the absence of a specific field guide discussing croton plants, even though Morphometric courses require field practicum material. Documented the cultivars of croton plants (Codiaeum variegatum) spread across 4 districts in Manokwari and develop a field guide in the form of a leaflet of croton plant cultivars. The study was conducted using the ADDIE development model which is limited to 3 stages, namely Analysis, Design and Development. The subjects of the study were Biology Education Students. The research product was in the form of a croton plant leaflet that was validated by the material and media validator. Meanwhile, to test student responses, a questionnaire was used. The results of the UPGMA analysis grouped 26 cultivars into 3 groups, namely 6 narrow-leafed cultivars, 11 medium-leafed cultivars and 9 broad-leafed cultivars. This grouping is more influenced by leaf shape. The results of the analysis showed that there were 19 identical accessions (1.00). The results of the leaflet product validation for material experts were declared very valid (81.67%), and media experts were declared very valid (98.68%), in line with student responses stated as very practical (90.97%).

Abstract

This research aims to analyze primary school students' motivation to learn science. Differences in student grades and gender were also examined in this research. The research has used survey methods. The survey was carried out on 97 students at one of the elementary schools in Malang City. The students who participated were those in grades 4, 5 and 6. A questionnaire containing 35 statement items measured students' motivation toward science learning. The analysis uses ANOVA to measure differences in motivation based on grade, gender, and interactions between grade and gender. There is no influence of grade and gender on students' motivation to learn science. On average, students' science learning motivation is good. Female students dominate the overall motivation score (M), active learning strategies (ALS), self-efficacy (SE), performance goal (PG), and science learning value (SLV), while Achievement goal (AG) and learning environment stimulation (LES) dominate the male student scores. The student's PG was weak. This indicates that students study science not to improve their performance but to get attention and be considered the best by others.

Abstract

Papua, which is known to be rich in local wisdom, has great potential in environmental conservation if supported by a strong conservative attitude from its citizens. This research aims to determine the influence of problem-based student books integrated with Papuan local wisdom on the conservation attitudes of class VII junior high school students. This research is experimental research conducted at junior high schools in the Tanah Merah area of Bintuni Bay. In this study, the sample used was class VII, consisting of 38 students. There were 19 students in the control and experimental classes each. A conservation attitude questionnaire was used to measure students' conservation attitudes. Data were analyzed using the t test. The results show that problem-based student books integrated with Papuan local wisdom have a better effect than the control class. Local wisdom adds to students' information regarding the management of endemic organisms where they live. The problem of extinction in PBL learning empowers students to think about how to conserve organisms so that extinction factors that influence the classification of living things can be prevented.
