Abstract

Keeping the environment clean is one of the activities that can minimise the harmful effects of natural disasters and damage. If this activity is taught to children, it can form characters, mindsets, and habits to love the environment. The hope is that children will always be able to maintain cleanliness through daily activities, such as disposing of trash in its place and tidying up the room. Because of the importance of instilling awareness always to maintain cleanliness, in this community service, the service team held counselling on the importance of keeping the environment clean for male and female students at Yayasan Al-Kamilah, Serua, Depok, West Java. There are six main stages in implementing this community service: problem identification, problem research, material preparation, event organisation, activity implementation, and activity evaluation. The method used is through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations. In addition, pre-test and post-test were also carried out to find out the understanding of the counselling participants. As a result, the participants understood more about the importance of keeping the environment clean, especially at Yayasan Al-Kamilah, Serua, Depok, West Java.

Abstract

The crisis in Crimea caused the world to condemn Russia's invasive actions. China, as Russia's strategic partner, is in a dilemmatic situation because on the other hand, China has authority at the UN Security Council to maintain world peace. At the same time, China is also implementing its non-interference principle to respond to this challenge. This article will discuss further about how China can balance its interests with Russia through its non-interference principle and the interests that China has towards Russia. The method used in this research is a qualitative method through document study. The theory used is David Welch's theory of foreign policy change. The findings of this study are China's interests towards Russia, namely energy, military cooperation, and influence in Central Asia so that China's pragmatism arises to support Russia.

Abstract

The development of the digital economy requires every country to be responsive and able to adopt technological developments quickly to capture opportunities from the digital economy. Various efforts and policies are made to take advantage of digital economic developments that can contribute to economic growth. ASEAN is one form of regional cooperation that intensively pays attention to the development of the digital economy in the region. One of the cooperative framework efforts currently in process is the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA). Through the ASEAN DEFA, it is expected that there will be harmonization among ASEAN member countries in digital economy policies. On the other hand, regarding the digital economy, ASEAN countries are still faced with several challenges in developing the digital economy, both in terms of access to digital technology and the skills of human resources in adapting to the development of digital technology. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the future cooperation of ASEAN DEFA, which is faced with several challenges by ASEAN member countries. Through analysis of various sources from previous research, journal articles, and other secondary data sources, the study's results show that there are still several digital economy challenges in the region, such as digital economy infrastructure development, the digital divide, the role of MSMEs in the digital economy, and policy harmonization. The region's variety of digital economy challenges requires mapping the readiness of ASEAN countries, collaboration and cooperation, and policy harmonization. This needs to be done so that member countries can benefit from implementing ASEAN DEFA in the future.

Abstract

The climate crisis, which also disrupts global stability, forces countries to make an energy transition towards renewable energy. A multilateral forum consisting of 19 countries and the European Union, the G20 has a strategic role to play in promoting the issue of the energy transition. Moreover, all of its member countries are among the largest non-renewable energy consumers in the world. However, of course, not all of the G20 member countries consist of developed countries. Therefore, they have their own challenges and opportunities. This paper will explain the opportunities and challenges of the energy transition by G20 member countries, especially developing countries. The country samples taken were Indonesia, Brazil, India, Saudi Arabia, and China. The method used is a qualitative research method by conducting an interview with an informant and studying documents. The results of the research show that the member states of G20, especially developing countries, still face challenges in the energy transition.

Abstract

This article examines the ideology critique of Mearsheimer’s theory of offensive neorealism because his theory preoccupies the reality of world politics, especially in the Russia-Ukraine War case. In the International Relations (IR) discipline, we have problems with a methodology and its assumptions, especially mainstream theories which reduces the reality of world politics. In this regard, we view neorealism has problems. After Waltz’s theory of defensive neorealism, Mearsheimer’s theory is becoming the ideology of IR to make sense of world politics, especially in Indonesia where scholars of IR mostly quote Mearsheimer as the master who knows deeply, the Russia-Ukraine War. By using the critical theory approach, we argue that the theory of offensive neorealism is ideological because this theory is believed as a ‘faith’ to make sense of the reality of the Russia-Ukraine War without questioning the epistemological and methodological assumptions. Neorealism is still a mainstream theory in IR, especially in Indonesia. We will conduct the ideology critique of Mearsheimer’s theory in order to argue that offensive neorealism is a theory that supports great-power countries, including their ideological practice to maintain their positions. In the frame of offensive neorealism, whether you are against or pro-Ukraine, it does not matter because, in the end, this theory only represents, sees, and observes great power countries like Russia and America while the weak states should realistically accept big power countries. Therefore, the theory of offensive neorealism does not seem to consider small countries.

Abstract

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is inextricably linked to the issues Palestinian women face. They have been affected psychologically, mentally, and physically. The Palestinian independence movement and Palestinian women's struggle are inextricably linked. The protection of women's rights has grown in importance in light of the protracted conflict in Palestine. Conflict-related tensions and economic pressures are contributing to an increase in domestic violence. In conflict areas, fundamental rights like freedom of speech, travel, and political participation are often ignored or restricted. This study investigates how both governmental and non-governmental entities safeguard women's rights in Palestine. This qualitative case study-based research examines how women's rights were maintained in Palestine as the conflict escalated. This study examines the dynamics of women's rights issues in Palestine and the difficulties in addressing these issues in-depth using secondary data from earlier studies, journal articles, and online articles. The study concludes that a multifaceted approach is necessary to protect women's rights in Palestine, given the Israeli occupation and patriarchal norms. Cooperation is required to defend women's rights and promote a more equitable society in Palestine.

Abstract

Abstract

This article examines the role of the British Council in facilitating cultural cooperation between the UK and Indonesia through the Connections Through Culture (CTC) program. The primary focus of the research is on how international artistic collaborations serve as a strategic medium for strengthening cross-cultural relations. The analysis reveals that the art projects initiated through CTC not only support the exchange of ideas and knowledge but also play a significant role in promoting the values of equality, diversity, and inclusion. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of cultural diplomacy, particularly in the context of non-state actors fostering global cultural networks. By highlighting how cultural cooperation concepts are applied in the British Council's initiatives, this article offers new insights into the role of non-state actors in building more inclusive and sustainable international relations.
