Abstract

In dealing with the conflict in Papua, the Indonesian government has made various efforts, one of which is changing the status of the Free Papua Organization (OPM) which was originally defined as an armed criminal group, then changed to a terrorist group. The focus of this research is the change in the status of the OPM to the terrorist organization. This research is analytical with an explanatory approach that explains the reasons behind the policy taken by the Indonesian government to change the status of OPM to a terrorist organization. In collecting data to build arguments in this study using a literature study approach, where data is obtained from various literature sources such as books, journals, documents or reports, and also from internet sources that are considered relevant. The findings of this study can be illustrated that the Indonesian government's policy to change the status of the OPM to a terrorist organization has been motivated by several reasons, including: OPM has met the definitive requirements as a terrorist; expanding the space for the Indonesian government to deal with the OPM, including facilitating the tracking and blocking of funding for the OPM movement; To gain legitimacy from any efforts or steps taken to confront OPM; Using the "war on terror" norm to reduce the perception of human rights violations committed by the Indonesian government.

Abstract

World economic order after the ratification of GATT (General Agreement On Tarrifs and Trade) shows some contractions and a number of controversies. The broadening of trade agenda in Uruguay round was a new phase of agreement among the countries. Ministerial meeting 1986 produced a declaration called Punta del Este. This consensus creates the establishment of WTO as the only multilateral institution to mediate any cooperations of global trade. WTO itself palys its role to sustain and make sure that the agenda of trade liberalization runs optimally. Nevertheless, amids the euphoria of trade liberalization discourse, some problems and polemic come up. They appear due to inconsistency of developed countries which implement protectionism policy on their some sectors of trade. Third world group then build a coalition to refuse every form of deception in free trade policy. This condition has caused the emergence of internal friction in the body of WTO In this paper, the author will try to analyze and explain the dynamic of trade liberalization policy among the countries after the establishment of WTO. The main focus are on 2 questions, first, why is there conflict of interest in WTO?, and second, how is the dialectical relation of protectionism with free trade system between developed countries and developing countries?  Subsequently, we will obtain a hypothese that market liberalization is never fully implemented instead. Doctrine of free market and the elimination of trade handicaps are not executed consistently by developed c,ountries. Third world countries even tend to be dictated and suppressed to eliminate all kinds of trade handicaps. This handicap include some regulations like subsidy, tarrief, quota, or taxation. So the consequence is the destruction or domestic market in third world due to their incompetence of capital against MNC and developed countries. Market liberalization under neoliberalism can be stated as a new form of Unilateralism in Economy. Stronger and more advanced countries manage to impose their national interest on many trade agreements. The massive integration of world economy has created disparity and imbalanced competition. World is divided by a world gigantic power of capital which exploit third world. Through the mechanism of capital and trade liberalization, our reality si underpinned by domination and monopoly.  Globalization of economy has become a trap for south countries which keeps maintaining wealth accumulation only to few capitalist and developed countries This writting aims to problematize the inconsistent rules implementation within WTO in term of trade policies among countries. Trade liberalization has been mostly taken for granted which in turn covers up certain form of protectionism on some strategic commodities. It has sparked debates about the role of WTO whether it can truly liberalize trade policies or it has surrendered to the strong and  significant role of government intervention in advanced countries.

Abstract

This study seeks to conduct a critical analysis of the vision and practice of PoliticalIslam held by the leading Islamic parties in Indonesia, the National Mandate Party (PAN), theNational Awakening Party (PKB) and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS). Strategy and themethods adopted by the three parties are not always based linearly with Islamic style. Theanalysis will be directed at explaining their adaptive actions and changes in response to theconcrete political realities and developments. Political Islam will be placed in the context notonly in terms of identity and ideological elements but also in its intersection with efforts toachieve the targets of political power and success in general elections both in a short-termand a long term. The authors believe that the theme of Political Islam is very interesting after observingthe phenomenon of national politics especially since 2017. Strengthened Islamic identitysentiment over the past two years through the National Movement of Guarding MUI Fatwa orGNPF-MUI has undeniably attracted more public attention. Political mobilization against thecase of blasphemy by the Governor of Jakarta at that time had opened crucial political spaces. Thus, the struggle for identity politics in Indonesia has become more dynamic and furtherstudy or research is highly needed. The development of the Islamic party in Indonesia to acertain degree shows the irony and paradox.

Abstract

The development of the Digital Economy in the last decade has become increasingly prominent and significant. The dynamics and transactions of the Digital Economy span from the corporate to household levels, from local to global scales. The use of advanced information technology in the internet field paved the way for the Digital Economy, especially in the financial or financial realm. This reality is directly correlated with the current of financialization of contemporary capitalism which has strengthened as one of the main features of Neoliberal capitalism since the 1980s.This study seeks to analyze the operation of the Digital Economy in the financial sector such as Venture Capital or Financial Technology within the framework of Political-Economy, particularly through the study of International Political Economy. The author believes that the birth and development of the Digital Economy can be understood in two aspects, namely, first, it is directly correlated with the financialization of global capitalism, especially since the current of Neoliberalism emerged in the decade of the 80s. Financial liberalization and deregulation that started in the United States became the starting point for international economic financialization. Changes to the model of transactions and financial products are a direct derivation of financial deregulation initiated by developed countries and global capitalists.Second, technological development is a reflection of the historical development of capitalism. This means that technology in the Digital Economy has a social character and aims to optimize the accumulation of contemporary capitalism. Digital Economy Technology is not independent of social and economic-political formations or entirely as a result of the inherent creativity of the natural impetus of scientific progress.

Abstract

Keeping the environment clean is one of the activities that can minimise the harmful effects of natural disasters and damage. If this activity is taught to children, it can form characters, mindsets, and habits to love the environment. The hope is that children will always be able to maintain cleanliness through daily activities, such as disposing of trash in its place and tidying up the room. Because of the importance of instilling awareness always to maintain cleanliness, in this community service, the service team held counselling on the importance of keeping the environment clean for male and female students at Yayasan Al-Kamilah, Serua, Depok, West Java. There are six main stages in implementing this community service: problem identification, problem research, material preparation, event organisation, activity implementation, and activity evaluation. The method used is through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations. In addition, pre-test and post-test were also carried out to find out the understanding of the counselling participants. As a result, the participants understood more about the importance of keeping the environment clean, especially at Yayasan Al-Kamilah, Serua, Depok, West Java.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the dynamics of Chinese investment in the Indonesian coal-fired power plant sector during the period 2012-2022. The selection of this timeframe was made to illustrate the differences in Chinese investment policies in the Indonesian coal-fired power plant sector before and after the establishment of the Chinese BRI, as well as the shift in President Xi Jinping's policies from being proactive in investing to wanting to halt investments in this sector. This study utilizes the FDI Theory and Market Deregulation Theory. It employs a descriptive qualitative approach with two sources of data: primary and secondary data through interviews with WALHI and the Ministry of Investment/Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board, official government websites, specific institutional journals, previous literature, books, journal publications, and relevant news articles. The study argues that Chinese investment in the Indonesian coal-fired power plant sector, especially during the period 2012-2022, tends to have negative impacts and leads to a domino effect on economic, social, and environmental dynamics. The destructive nature of coal-fired power plant activities has led to the cessation of Chinese funding in this sector. Consequently, the Indonesian government has been encouraging Chinese and other investors to shift towards investing in renewable energy sources to replace the obsolete use of coal-fired power plants. The ultimate outcome of the research suggests the possibility of a complete transition from the Indonesian coal-fired power plant sector in the future within an undetermined timeframe.
