Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a major health problem in Indonesia with increasing prevalence, driven by lifestyle changes and urbanization. The combination of Metformin and Empagliflozin in the Jardiance Duo® product is one of the effective therapies of choice in managing T2DM. Along with the development of e-commerce in the pharmaceutical sector, the Tokopedia platform has begun to provide access to purchase this drug online. This study aims to analyze the effect of selling price and seller's domicile on the sales volume of Jardiance Duo® on Tokopedia. The problems studied include the extent to which selling price influences purchasing decisions and how the geographic distribution of sellers contributes to sales levels. The study used a quantitative-descriptive approach, with data collected through direct observation on the Tokopedia platform on May 23, 2025. The data studied included price, seller location, and sales volume for each Jardiance Duo® variant. The results showed that the selling price in the range of IDR 443,000–IDR 485,000 had the highest sales volume, reflecting high price sensitivity among consumers. The 12.5/500 mg variant was the best-selling, with the highest sales recorded in West Java and East Java. D.I. Yogyakarta recorded no sales at all, indicating an imbalance in geographical distribution. In addition, the uneven pricing between sellers creates uncertainty for consumers regarding the authenticity of the product. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of a competitive pricing strategy and equitable distribution between regions, as well as the need for price regulation and consumer education to increase trust in online drug purchases. These results are expected to be the basis for consideration for digital pharmaceutical industry players and e-commerce platforms in developing more effective distribution and marketing strategies.

Abstract

The role of community pharmacists in providing drug information is increasingly important to improve the safety of drug use by the public. However, public perceptions of the role of pharmacists may vary between regions. This study aims to analyze the influence of region of residence on the perceptions of Indonesians regarding the role of community pharmacists in Drug Information Services (DIS). The study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design through the distribution of an online questionnaire covering six variables: General Awareness (GA), Effectiveness (EFF), Collaboration (COLL), Barriers (BARR), Trustworthiness (TRUST), and Drug Information Service (DIS). Validity testing was conducted using KMO and Bartlett's Test as well as PCA factor analysis, which showed that all items had a KMO value > 0.5 and met the construct validity requirements. Reliability was tested using Cronbach's Alpha, with all variables having a value > 0.7, indicating excellent internal consistency. Chi-Square analysis was used to examine the influence of region, while the relationship between variables was tested using Pearson's correlation. The results showed that region did not affect all perception variables (p > 0.05), indicating that public perception was uniform nationwide. Rank Spearman correlation showed that all variables were significantly related, especially between Barriers and PIO (r = 0.768). It is recommended that pharmacists improve the quality of communication and education to strengthen the implementation of PIO in the community.

Abstract

Pharmacists play an important role in health promotion as part of disease prevention and quality of life improvement efforts. In their development, community pharmacists not only function as medicine providers, but also as health workers who provide education, counseling, and interprofessional collaboration. Public perception of this role still varies, so this study aims to analyze the Indonesian public's perception of the role of community pharmacists in health promotion and education based on job type. This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design through an online questionnaire covering six dimensions of perception: general awareness, effectiveness, collaboration, barriers, trustworthiness, and health promotion and education. The sample size was determined using Cochran's formula at a 95% confidence level and a 10% margin of error, resulting in 100 respondents. The analysis was descriptive, using the Chi-Square test for the relationship between occupation and perception, as well as Spearman's correlation between perception variables. The results show that public perception ranges from fairly good to very good, with effectiveness (57%) and collaboration (55%) being the highest. The barriers variable shows a significant relationship with employment (p=0.044), while the other dimensions do not. Strong correlations are seen in general awareness, effectiveness, and collaboration. This study confirms the need to strengthen access to and consistency of health promotion services by community pharmacists.

Abstract

Community pharmacists play a crucial role in pharmaceutical practice in Indonesia, including prescription compounding and medication dispensing. The impact of community education on perceptions of the role of community pharmacists in prescription assessment and medication dispensing has never been investigated. The aim of this study was to determine the impact of respondents' education on perceptions of the role of community pharmacists regarding general awareness (GA), effectiveness (EFF), collaborative care (COLL), barriers (BARR), trustworthiness (TRUST), and prescription review and administration (PRPO) based on respondents' education level. Data were collected from a 21-item questionnaire and analyzed quantitatively and descriptively using a cross-sectional design. The sample size was determined using the Cochran formula, resulting in 100 respondents, with an additional 50 respondents added to the validity test. A significance value of 0.000 and a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.65 indicated that the questionnaire was valid and reliable. The results of statistical analysis using the chi-square test indicate an influence between education level on public perception regarding general awareness (GA), collaborative (COLL), barriers (BARR), trustworthiness (TRUST), while there is no influence between education level on public perception regarding effectiveness (EFF) and prescription review and administration (PRPO). The Spearman rank correlation of this study shows that the pair of variables that have a statistically significant relationship between EFF and PRPO has the highest correlation value (r=0.412).

Abstract

Community pharmacists have an important role in health services, especially in providing education on the use of drugs and preventing antibiotic abuse amid rising antimicrobial resistance. Public perception of the role of community pharmacists is still not optimal, influenced by limited knowledge and socio-economic factors, such as monthly expenses. This study aims to analyze the influence of monthly expenditure on the perception of the Indonesian public regarding the role of community pharmacists in preventing antibiotic resistance. The study used a cross-sectional design with a quantitative approach, involving 100 respondents through a questionnaire distributed online through googleform. Perceptions were analyzed based on six aspects: General Awareness, Effectiveness, Collaborative, Barriers, Trustworthiness, and antibiotic resistance. The results of the validity test showed the value of the KMO and Bartlett's Test with a value of 0.689, with a significance (p< 0.001) indicating that the data was worth analysis, while the reliability of the instrument was good with Cronbach's Alpha 0.670 which indicated a reliable instrument when >0.6. Chi-square analysis showed that monthly expenditure had no significant effect on public perception (p = 0.186). The Rank Spearman correlation test showed that all variables were significantly related (p < 0.001) with positive direction and correlation strength was strong enough to be strong (r = 0.443–0.776), and the strongest correlation was between Collaborative and Barriers (r = 0.776). These findings confirm the importance of the role of community pharmacists in antibiotic education and collaboration with health care workers, as well as encourage further research using longitudinal designs or adding other variables that influence antibiotic use behavior.

Abstract

Community pharmacists have an important role in public health services, especially in self-medication services, namely the use of drugs without a doctor's prescription to treat minor complaints, although public perception of the role of pharmacists can differ between regions; the purpose of this study was to see the extent of the influence of Indonesian public perception on the role of community pharmacists in self-medication service practices using quantitative methods with a cross-sectional design through the distribution of online questionnaires covering six variables: General Awareness (GA), Effectiveness (EFF), Collaboration (COLL), Barriers (BARR), Trustworthiness (TRUST), and Self-medication Services, where the validity test with KMO and Bartlett's Test and PCA factor analysis showed a KMO value > 0.771 which met the construct feasibility requirements, while Cronbach's Alpha reliability > 0.743 indicated very good internal consistency; Chi-Square analysis for the influence of age and Pearson correlation between variables yielded a significance value > 0.05, meaning there was no significant relationship between age and respondents' perceptions, indicating a consistent relationship between constructs, with the highest correlation between self-medication service and barriers (r = 0.780), indicating the higher the perceived barriers, the stronger the relationship with self-medication services. The government and pharmacists are intensifying education to reduce barriers, pharmacists are strengthening collaboration and trust through personalized consultations, developing mobile drug consultation applications, and further research in specific areas to explore other factors such as education.
