Abstract

Learning English before and after the Covid-19 pandemic shows a very different process. Face to face on campus in Indonesia has turned into a learning process entitled Learning From Home. The study aims to describe the challenges faced by lecturers and students in implementing online learning of English. The case study was applied in the study by direct observation of online learning that took place at the State Polytechnic of Malang, documentation of learning materials, assignments, and student assessments and presentations. The results showed that the learning outcomes of the experimental group and the control group did not show a significant difference. It shows that multimedia effects are long term. So that it is faster to understand than just online. While the driving factor is the internet budget. The inhibiting factor is the internet network which is difficult to reach by students whose houses are in remote villages, not all areas are easy to reach internet signals. Another obstacle comes from the students themselves, the lack of awareness of the tasks that students have to do. While the advantages of the learning strategy are students can be monitored directly by parents so that parents can find out to what extent their children understand the subject matter and know the learning deficiencies that exist in students. Utilizing a case study methodology, data were collected through observations and questionnaires. English for Tourism Industry students were divided into four groups, each consisting of five students, and each group created one Digital Travel Writing project. Findings indicate that all groups effectively followed three key steps in the PBL process: project preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The resulting Digital Travel Writing projects focused on Central Java, Bali, East Java, and West Nusa Tenggara. Questionnaire responses indicated that most students enjoyed the PBL activities. In conclusion, the implementation of project-based learning using Google Sites was successful in enhancing students’ abilities in the Travel Writing course.

Abstract

This research aimed to develop seven English articles about Kayutangan Heritage for Tugu Jatim to address the lack of English tourism content on the Tugu Jatim website. The purpose of this research was to increase the number of English articles on the Tugu Jatim’s tourism channel and align with Tugu Jatim's "Merawat Jawa Timur" slogan. This research utilized the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages of ADDIE theory, an adaptation of the Design and Development Research model proposed by Richey Rita C. and Klein (2014). Data collection methods included published article and SEO content analysis, article design, interviews, and expert validation. This research resulted in six published articles of the seven article drafts in total. The six articles were published after matching with the article writing guideline and worth publishing. There was one article that was not published due to its non-SEO-friendly keyword usage, which made the title, lead, and conclusion irrelevant. The findings emphasize the importance of conducting SEO keyword research and creating interesting content to ensure article readability. The subsequent research was expected to develop SEO-friendly articles that contain local tourist destination promotion.
