Abstract

ECG is a test performed to monitor the electrical activity of the heart muscle. The heartbeat is normal, slow, fast, or irregular. So, to find out the heart rhythm we must be able to read an ECG (Electrocardiogram). To analyze the Relationship between Nurses' Knowledge and the Ability to Read ECGs to Prevent Cardiac Arrest in the ICU and CCU of Cut Nyak Dhien Hospital. This type of quantitative research uses a cross-sectional study design. The study was conducted from April 25 to 30, 2024. The sampling technique was a total sampling of 38 nurses in the ICU and CCU at Cut Nyak Dhien Hospital. Data collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-square test. Knowledge with the ability to read ECGs was mostly in the sufficient category, as many as 17 respondents (44.7%). The results showed a relationship between nurses' knowledge and the ability to read ECGs to prevent cardiac arrest with a p value of 0.000 <0.05. It is expected that the hospital can improve nurses' insight and knowledge about ECG through health seminars and special heart training. By increasing nurses' knowledge in reading ECG, the survival rate of heart patients can be increased.

Abstract

Accidents and accidental injuries are more likely to occur in adolescents who tend to be active and like challenges, so there is a risk of high morbidity and mortality rates among adolescents globally. The number of injuries in adolescents in Indonesia is high, partly due to a lack of skills in performing first aid (first aid). These skills are essential for reducing the risk of death and preventing disability, as well as empowering adolescents to keep themselves and others safe. According to initial interviews, adolescents have been taught simple first aid and received education from various institutions, such as treating wounds and handling fever. However, they often do not implement this knowledge and feel unsure or unprepared when facing an emergency, even directly contacting an adult instead of providing first aid so that their skills in performing first aid are still not optimal, as evidenced by panicked reactions during emergencies. This community service activity aims to optimize education and first aid skills through an Android-based educational game media called QuickAid Heroes. The implementation method is used through five stages: program socialization and training, including first aid education, application of technology through android-based educational games, mentoring, and evaluation related to the actions taken and the program's sustainability. The results obtained from this activity are in the form of an increase in first aid skill scores after adolescents are introduced to the QuickAid Heroes game and partners' commitment to optimize adolescents' ability to do first aid on a regular basis. This shows that the skill of doing first aid can be optimized; one of the ways is through the Android-based educational game Quick Aid Heroes. It is recommended that related parties continuously allocate time regularly for first aid education for all adolescents

Abstract

Background: BSE examinations are conducted as early as feasible while women are still young, that is, when they are productive and between the ages of 13 and 49, they will also be very successful. Women in this age group are more likely to get cancer or breast tumors. The issue lies in women's lack of knowledge about the risks associated with BSE practice, which ranges from 25% to 30%. Adolescents' awareness can be raised more easily when education through video media stimulates their auditory and visual senses. The study's objective was to ascertain how young women's knowledge was impacted by the instructional film on breast self-examination (BSE). Method: A quasi-experimental study design without control is employed, consisting of pre- and post-test phases. The study, which involved 94 teenage female students, was carried out at MTSN 01 West Aceh from April 29 to May 21, 2024. Purposive sampling with inclusion criteria was the sample strategy used in this study. The study's findings demonstrate a substantial relationship between video-based BSE education and young women's BSE knowledge, with a p-value of 0.000<0.05 for the Wilcoxon test results. Conclusion: The degree of knowledge of female students is significantly influenced by BSE instruction through video. Increasing the level of knowledge among female students.

Abstract

Anemia continues to pose a serious global health concern and is particularly widespread in developing countries such as Indonesia. Adolescent girls face a heightened risk of iron deficiency anemia due to menstrual blood loss, which leads to nearly double the iron depletion experienced by boys. Video-based educational interventions provide an accessible means of improving young people’s knowledge and attitudes toward anemia prevention. This study examined the effect of animated educational videos on the knowledge and attitudes of adolescent girls regarding anemia. A total of 71 participants were involved, and data collection took place in June 2025 using a structured questionnaire assessing knowledge and attitudes toward anemia. Univariate and bivariate analyses were conducted, and the Wilcoxon test was applied to determine changes before and after the intervention. The results showed significant improvements in both knowledge and attitudes after participants viewed the animated video. These findings indicate that animated video education is an effective strategy for strengthening adolescents’ understanding and fostering positive attitudes toward anemia prevention. Health workers are encouraged to expand the use of video-based health promotion to support anemia prevention initiatives among young people.
