Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the performance of the C-3-08A separator used in a hydrocracking unit within an industrial processing facility, in support of increased production targets. The primary focus is to calculate and analyze the Area Ratio (Rm), which represents the ratio of the separator's length to its inlet diameter, ensuring efficiency in the fluid separation process at a flow rate of 13,435 BFPD. The method applied involves manual calculations to determine the Rm value and propose improvements to the separator design based on parameters such as length and flow rate. Analysis results show that the initial Rm value of 2.527 does not meet the standard requirement, which stipulates an Rm range between 3 and 5. Recalculation suggests that extending the separator length to 36 ft yields an Rm of 3.015, meeting the standard. Additionally, reducing the flow rate to 8,000 BFPD while maintaining a separator length of 30.183 ft and diameter of 10.045 ft produces an Rm of 3.004, also within acceptable limits. In conclusion, recalculating and adjusting the separator design parameters can enhance fluid separation efficiency and support increased production outcomes.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of temperature on the properties of KCl polymer-based drilling mud, focusing on maintaining the stability of these properties under varying temperature conditions. Five sample variations were tested: Sample A at room temperature, Sample B1 at 150°F, Sample B2 at 200°F, Sample B3 at 250°F, and Sample C at 250°F with the addition of selected additives. The B series samples showed a decline in mud quality as temperature increased, with Sample B3 falling outside the required specification limits for plastic viscosity, yield point, gel strength, and API filtrate due to high-temperature effects. To address this, additives were introduced in Sample C to enhance the composition and stabilize the mud properties. As a result, Sample C met the required specifications with plastic viscosity of 14 lbs/100ft², yield point of 32 lbs/100ft², gel strength of 9 lbs/100ft² after 10 seconds and 12 lbs/100ft² after 10 minutes, and API filtrate of 5.2 cc/30 minutes. The mud properties must be maintained to prevent hole problems in the formation during drilling operationsKeywords : Mud Fluid, Mud Properties, Tempreature

Abstract

Abstract

Pipeline redesign was conducted at the LPG filling and distribution station of PT. Mashud Bersaudara Internasional to address excess pressure in the piping system during the LPG filling process on the filling skid. This research aims to analyze the pressure changes in the Sihi pump output pipe subsequent to the installation of a larger Sihi pump on the LPG filling skid line. Pressure changes in the pipe were analyzed using the continuity and Bernoulli equations. The research results indicated that the pressure increase, which triggered the activation of the pressure safety valve in the return pipeline, was due to the replacement of the Sihi pump with a larger capacity model. Prior to changing the size of the return pipe, the pressure was 8.535 Bar. After the replacement, the pressure in the Sihi pump output pipe dropped to 7.5525 Bar, which is below the pressure threshold of the pressure safety valve. Thus, the pipeline redesign successfully resolved the excess pressure issue.

Abstract

The Sucker Rod Pump installed in the TMT-Y Field X experienced a decrease in production because the pump capacity that has been used for a longer tim e is no longer in accordance with the pump capacity. From the initial data the production rate was known to be 350 bpd, judging from the production capacity of the TMT-Y well in Field X, the value of Qmax was 415.55 bpd and the productivity index value of 1.1 into the classification of medium well performance, the well still has the potential to produce more. Therefore, performing pump optimization calculations to increase productivity, the previous method I used was optimization of five scenarios. This optimization is carried out using five scenarios, in scenario 1 using a 2- inch plunger with 5/8 and 7/8 inch rods to calculate the pump optimization in scenario 2 using a 2 inch plunger and 5/8 and 7/8 inch rods. The production rate in scenario 1 is 365.7 bpd, the pump stroke length is 94 inches and the pump speed is 7.4 spm. the results of scenario 2 obtained a production rate of 370.7 bpd, a pump stroke length of 91 inches and a pump speed of 6.6 spm. In the results of scenario 3, a production rate of 368.7 bpd a pump stroke length of 90 inches and a pump speed of 6.5 spm was obtained in scenario 4 the results obtained a production rate of 367.6bpd, 76-inch pump stroke length and 5.5spm pump speed. The result of scenario 5 cannot be used the results of the intersection and the flow rate. Among the five scenarios, the best scenario is scenario 2, because if you look closely, the production rate increases from the initial production flow rate, which is from 350 bpd, which is higher to 370.7 bpd.

Abstract

The “YDK-01” well has alkaline Formation Water with a pH value of 8,3. Therefore, Scale can form in the productive zone so that over time, Scale will continue to settle and be difficult to solved. From several Acidizing methods, Matrix Acidizing is the most recommended because in the wells examined there are indications of a positive Skin value (Formation Damage). Matrix Acidizing is a Reservoir stimulation method used to overcome Formation Damage in the wells caused by Scale. In this Final Project, it is done using manual calculations using (Stiff & Davis), (Skillman, McDonald & Stiff) and Inflow Performance Relationship Wiggins equations, which aims to evaluate the problem of Scale. Changes in well production rates can be seen from a comparison of several parameters before and after Acidizing such as: Inflow Performance Relationship curve, Permeability value, Productivity Index value, and Skin. In the “YDK-01” well, there was an increase in the Qomax value of 47.16 bopd. The Productivity Index value of oil which was previously 0.129 bopd/psia, has changed to 0.198 bopd/psia. Permeability value has increased by 12 md and Skin value has decreased by 28.54. Parameters above prove that the Matrix Acidizing method works well in overcome scale on the well
