Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of increasing gender equality for girl in Pargarutan Jae Village. The aim of this research is to determine the communication used by parents towards girls about gender equality and girls' responses to parents' communication about gender equality. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. In collecting data, researchers used observation, interview and documentation data collection techniques. The informants in this research were 15 (fifteen) people from 5 (five) families (father, mother and one daughter). The research results obtained are first, related to parents' communication with girls about gender equality, it was found that parents when communicating with girls applied an attitude of openness, empathy, supportiveness, positive attitude and equality. Parents also began to let go of the influence of the patrilineal and rigid Batak Angkola culture on women. Second, related to girls' responses to parental communication about gender equality, it was found that girls felt equality so that they had the same access, participation, control and benefits as boys.

Abstract

This research is entitled "Philanthropic Communication Strategy of the Dompet Dhuafa Volunteer Organization, North Sumatra in Fundraising in Medan City." The aim of this research is to find out how important and effective the communication strategy carried out by Dompet Dhuafa Volunteer North Sumatra is in Fundraising or collecting funds and communicating with the public. The theory used is the Hierarchy of Effects theory and the Laswell theory model. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative methods. By making direct observations at the research location, as well as conducting interviews with relevant informants. After that, carry out documentation in the form of photos. The research results obtained were that the communication strategy carried out was not able to obtain a large response from the audience. Starting from direct and indirect responses.

Abstract

This article describes a case of social interaction between ethnic Mandailing and Javanese in Pasar Singkuang II Village, Muara Batang Gadis District, Mandailing Natal District, North Sumatra. This study focuses on forms of inter-ethnic interaction, the problems they experience, and efforts to overcome them. This is a qualitative-descriptive study where data is collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data is processed using descriptive analysis procedures from Miles-Huberman, borrowing social interaction theory as an analytical framework. This study found that in the case of the Mandailing-Javanese ethnic group, inter-ethnic social interactions were associative through social cooperation and acculturation. On the other hand, their interaction is also dissociative because there are inhibiting factors such as communication problems and differences in the ethical values and norms of each ethnic group. These obstacles are overcome by being open to others, adapting, and avoiding negative prejudice. In addition, this study found that in inter-ethnic interactions, religion exerts a strong influence both as a communal identity and through social-religious activities, so that their differences can be merged and strengthen social integration.AbstrakArtikel ini menjelaskan kasus interaksi sosial antaretnik Mandailing dan Jawa di Desa Pasar Singkuang II Kecamatan Muara Batang Gadis Kabupaten Mandailing Natal, Sumatera Utara. Studi ini fokus pada bentuk interaksi antaretnik, problem yang mereka alami dan usaha mengatasinya. Ini merupakan kajian kualitatif-deksriptif di mana data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam dan dokumentasi, data diolah menggunakan prosedur analisis deskriptif dari Miles-Huberman dengan meminjam teori interaksi sosial sebagai kerangka analisis. Studi ini menemukan bahwa dalam kasus etnik Mandailing-Jawa di Pasar Singkuang II, interaksi sosial antaretnik terjalin secara asosiatif, melalui kerja sama sosial dan akulturasi. Di sisi lain, interaksi mereka juga bersifat disosiatif karena ada faktor penghambat seperti problem komunikasi dan perbedaan nilai etika dan norma masing-masing etnik. Hambatan tersebut diatasi dengan cara bersikap terbuka terhadap sesama, beradaptasi, menghindari prasangka negatif. Selain itu, kajian ini menemukan bahwa dalam interaksi antaretnik, agama memberi pengaruh kuat baik sebagai identitas komunal maupun lewat aktivitas sosial keagamaan, sehingga perbedaan mereka dapat dileburkan dan memperkuat integrasi sosial.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang bagaimana Efek Permainan Game Online Mobile Legend Terhadap Mahasiswa Program Studi Ilmu Komunikasi Fakultas Ilmu Sosial UIN Sumatera Utara. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Fakultas Ilmu Sosial UIN Sumatera Utara dengan teknik analisis kualitatif metode deskriptif dengan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil Penelitian ini Menunjukkan Game Online Mobile legend telah memberikan banyak efek kepada penggunanya yaitu efek positif dan efek negatif berdasarkan informasi yang didapatkan peneliti, efek yang diterima sesuai dengan penggunaan yang dilakukan oleh penggunanya sesuai dengan teori use and effect, diantaranya dapat meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa asing karena didalam game online mobile legend banyak istilah asing yang digunakan, lalu meningkatkan semangat belajar karena mobile legend dapat menghilangkan stres dan memberikan kesenangan karena kemenangan yang didapat saat bermain, berikutnya mobile legend dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi antar personal karena game ini berbasis kelompok dan bisa bermain dengan siapa saja, lalu mendapatkan hiburan karena rasa puas akan kemenangan dalam bermain membuat pemain mobile legend terhibur , sedangkan efek negatifnya antara lain  sering mengabaikan keadaan sekitar karena game mobile legend yang tidak bisa di pause saat bermain dan memerlukan fokus penggunanya, lalu boros waktu dan uang karena saat bermain diperlukan waktu yang lama serta memerlukan kuota atau fitur-fitur top up dalam mobile legend ini, dan mengalami gangguan tidur karena pemian yang sering berain pada malam hari agar menghindari gangguan. Kata Kunci : Game Online,  Mobile Legend, Mahasiswa.   ABSTRACT This research examines how the Effects of Mobile Legend Online Game Game on Students of the Communication Studies Study Program, Faculty of Social Sciences, UIN North Sumatra. This research was conducted at the Faculty of Social Sciences UIN North Sumatra with qualitative analysis techniques descriptive method with observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the Mobile Legend Online Game has had many effects on its users, namely positive effects and negative effects based on the information obtained by researchers, the effects received are in accordance with the use carried out by users in accordance with the use and effect theory, including being able to improve foreign language skills because in the online game mobile legend many foreign terms are used, then increase enthusiasm for learning because mobile legend can relieve stress and provide pleasure because of the wins you get while playing, next mobile legend can improve interpersonal communication skills because this game is group-based and can be played with anyone of course, then getting entertainment because the feeling of satisfaction with victory in playing keeps the mobile legend players entertained, while the negative effects include often ignoring the surrounding conditions because the mobile legend game cannot be paused while playing and requires n focus on the users, then waste of time and money because when playing it takes a long time and requires quota or top up features in this mobile legend, and experience sleep disturbances because players often play at night to avoid distractions. Abstract

Tindakan satu pihak mungkin akan memicu respons pihak lain melalui proses interaksi sosial. Interaksi sosial terjadi di segala kalangan kehidupan, salah satunya di kalangan pemulung. Dusun 11 Desa Bandar Khalipah merupakan salah satu dusun yang sebagian masyarakatnya memiliki pekerjaan sebagai pemulung. Pemulung melakukan berbagai interaksi sosial dengan warga Dusun 11, Desa Bandar Khalipah. Oleh karena itu, tujuan penulisan skripsi ini adalah untuk mengetahui interaksi sosial yang terjadi di Dusun 11 antara pemulung dengan masyarakat, serta faktor-faktor yang memudahkan atau menghambat hubungan tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan dokumentasi, prosedur wawancara, dan observasi partisipan pasif untuk mengumpulkan data melalui investigasi lapangan. Pertukaran informasi antara pemulung dan masyarakat melalui pertukaran informasi merupakan interaksi sosial yang positif di antara mereka, hal ini terlihat dari pengolahan data dan analisis menggunakan hasil deskriptif. Pertukaran manfaat antara pemulung dan masyarakat Dusun 11 juga merupakan bentuk kontak sosial lainnya. Dua variabel yaitu kontak sosial dan kesamaan kepentingan menumbuhkan keterikatan sosial antara pemulung dengan warga Dusun 11 Desa Bandar Khalipah. Sementara itu, rasa tidak nyaman dan rendah diri para pemulung terhadap orang-orang yang dekat dan asing satu sama lain menghambat interaksi sosial mereka dengan warga Dusun 11. Perbedaan tingkat perekonomian juga membuat sebagian pemulung enggan bergaul dengan beberapa masyarakat Dusun 11

Abstract

This study aims to examine the religious emotions of Muslims in Medan City towards their decision in choosing HPAI halal products. In the perspective of sociology of religion, religious emotion is considered an important factor that influences consumption behavior, especially in the context of products related to religious adherence. HPAI halal products, as one of the main brands in the halal product market, offer religious values that are in line with consumers' spiritual needs and religious identity. This research uses qualitative method (field-research) with in-depth interviews and participatory observation to collect data from HPAI consumers in Medan City. The main focus of this study was to explore how emotions such as self-confidence, obedience, and spiritual satisfaction influence HPAI's halal product preferences and purchasing behavior. The findings show that religious emotions strongly influence customer purchases, with HPAI goods typically chosen because they are perceived to follow sharia and are close to Islamic ideals. The results of this study provide an overview of how religious identity influences market behavior among Muslims in Medan City and contribute to the sociology of religion in the consumption of halal products. This study can help halal product businesses to build better marketing strategies and better understand the dynamics of religion in consumer behavior

Abstract

This study aims to determine the representation of the value of inter-religious tolerance in the film My Name Is Khan. The method used in this study is a semiotic analysis method that is descriptive. Where in this study using semiotic analysis from Charles Sanders Pierce. The object of this study is every scene that contains the value of tolerance between religious people.The results of this study show that the film "My Name Is Khan" contains the value of inter-religious tolerance in the form of respecting the beliefs of others, as in one scene where Muslims donate to the family of PMK who died. Giving freedom or independence, as in the scene where Rizwan tries to explain to people the understanding that he is not a terrorist. And mutual understanding, as in the scene where Muslims come to Georgia to help Christians affected by the great flood.

Abstract

In today's modern era, social media is very influential in everyday life, especially in encouraging the purchase of goods online, as is done by teenagers who like Kpop who are very fond of buying Kpop merchandise. The method used in this research is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. This data collection technique uses interview and observation techniques. The aim of the research is to analyze the social behavior of urban communities in purchasing merchandise among kpop teenagers, especially UINSU Medan students. The results of this research show that purchases of kpop merchandise among students are influenced by their own friends and the influence of social media from the Tiktok and Ig applications. Research to find out how students consume in purchasing merchandise in the city of Medan

Abstract

Agama memegang peranan penting dalam kehidupan manusia, memengaruhi pikiran dan tindakan. Terorisme, sebagai kejahatan ideologis, memerlukan pendekatan yang bernuansa untuk pencegahannya. Meskipun banyak metode konvensional seperti pendekatan ekonomi, sosiologis, kriminologis, atau psikologis telah digunakan, metode-metode tersebut mungkin tidak selalu mengatasi akar penyebab terorisme, terutama jika dimotivasi oleh keyakinan agama yang menyimpang. Oleh karena itu, sangat penting untuk mengadopsi pendekatan yang lebih lokal, yang berakar pada pemahaman kearifan dan konteks lokal. Pemahaman ini membantu dalam menangani gejolak intelektual yang memicu pemikiran ekstremis, terutama jika pemikiran tersebut berasal dari konsep-konsep agama yang disalahartikan seperti "jihad yang salah." Penerapan pendekatan lokal ini, termasuk deradikalisasi dan rekonsiliasi, sangat penting dalam mengatasi ancaman terorisme yang terus meningkat. Hal ini menyoroti pentingnya metodologi dan pendekatan dalam menangani terorisme, dengan fokus pada pemahaman berbasis agama dan solusi kontekstual.

Abstract

As many cases of suicide are caused by depression, researchers are interested in researching what causes depression in a person. This study aims to determine how depression is represented in the short film “The Sign” by Nicky K through John Fiske's semiotic analysis. This film depicts how a child goes through his bad days without anyone caring about the inner pressure he receives. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. The author chose this study because of the lack of public attention related to depression cases around him. The author wants to know how depression is portrayed in this film, through behavior, traits that make it a depressive disorder. Researchers want readers to be more sensitive to cases like this. Therefore, the writer is interested in the title of this research. The results of this study indicate that there is a representation of depression in this short film which is seen from the three levels proposed by John Fiske. There are three levels, namely the level of reality, the level of representation and the level of ideology
