Abstract

Background: Proteinuria indicates a kidney disorder and provides important prognostic information in diagnosing kidney disease. To determine the presence of protein in the urine, a urinalysis examination is carried out.  Proteinuria examination generally uses the heating method with acetic acid, sulfosalicylic acid, and concentrated nitric acid as reagents. In Indonesia, the use of acetic acid for proteinuria examination is still the primary choice. An alternative reagent is needed that can replace the function of acetic acid. The objective of this study is to determine the potential of Averrhoa Blimbi juice as an alternative reagent for proteinuria examination. Methods: This was a Pre-experimental study with a completely randomized design. This study used urine samples from a patient with chronic kidney disease. Urine samples were examined using 6% acetic acid reagent as a control and using Averrhoa bilimbi juice with various concentrations. Each juice concentration was examined twice so that the experimental units in this study were 40 units. The Kruskal-Wallis test was used to determine the potential of Averrhoa bilimbi  as an alternative reagent. Results: At concentrations of 5%-20% showed the same positive results as 6% acetic acid, namely +2, concentration 25%-35% resulted in +3, and other concentration resulted in +4. The results of data analysis showed p=0.04 (p<0.05). This shows that Averrhoa bilimbi has the potential as an alternative reagent for proteinuria examination. Conclusion: Averrhoa bilimbi  juice with a 5%-20% concentration has the potential as an alternative reagent for 6% acetic acid to check proteinuria levels. Keywords: Averrhoa bilimbi ; alternative reagents; proteinuria; acetic acid; urinalysis

Abstract

ntroduction: Nurses play a pivotal role in the provision of healthcare services both within the Indonesian context and on a worldwide scale. The development of nursing competence is crucial in order to guarantee the provision of high-quality healthcare services. To examine the elements that are linked to the enhancement of nurse competence by means of the adoption of nursing career paths within hospital settings in Indonesia. Methods: A descriptive analytical design, utilising a cross-sectional approach with a sample size of 197 nurses. The data was obtained by administering a meticulously evaluated questionnaire, designed by the researchers, to the participants. The questionnaire's validity (r=0.361) and reliability (r=0.933) were thoroughly assessed. The analysis of the research data was conducted utilising multiple linear regression tests. Results: As established through the use of multiple linear regression tests, demonstrate a statistically significant positive association (p<0.05) between organisational loyalty, organisational support, guidance, and financing, and the implementation of nurse competence quality. The obtained coefficient of determination was 0.260, suggesting that the four independent variables considered in this study have the ability to collectively account for 26% of the variability observed in the implementation of nurse competence quality. It is important to note that the remaining variation is likely impacted by additional factors not included in the analysis. The guiding element has been identified as the primary determinant in the cultivation of quality competence within hospital settings while implementing nursing career routes. Conclusion: The present study establishes that factors such as organisational loyalty, organisational support, mentorship for nurses, and financial resources for career advancement have a significant impact on the enhancement of nursing competency along the career trajectory within hospital settings. The variable exerting the most significant influence is the provision of instructions for nurses.

Abstract

Stress conditions in children with chronic disease affect psychoneuroimmunological markers. One of the mind-body modalities commonly used in pediatric chronic disease is music therapy. This systematic aim was evaluating the effect of music therapy on psychoneuroimmunological markers among children with chronic disease. Articles published between March 31, 2014, and April 1, 2023, were retrieved from five databases: Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, EBSCOhost, and ProQuest. Rayyan, an AI-powered tool for systematic literature reviews, facilitated paper selection. Studies were screened based on pre-defined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The PRISMA checklist guided selection, and the JBI Critical Appraisal for quality assessment. Data analysis employed a descriptive approach. A total of 15 articles published between 2014 and 2023 were included in this review. 10 (66,7%) of 15 studies assessed the effectiveness of music therapy on psychological and physiological responses. Meanwhile, five (33,3%) studies assessed the effectiveness of music therapy on neuroimmunological markers. Among the five studies, one did not exhibit a statistically significant impact. In contrast, the remaining four studies displayed a significant impact of music therapy on neuroimmunological markers. The most studies assessed the impact of music therapy on psychological and physiological responses, but only a small proportion assessed the effectiveness of music therapy on neuroimmunological markers. Music therapy can be considered a safe and generally well-accepted intervention in pediatric health care to manage psychoneuroimmunological markers.

Abstract

Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Sharia-Based Nursing Care, utilizing Swanson’s Caring Model (ShariaSwanCare), on patient satisfaction in hospital settings. Methods: A quasi-experimental pretest–posttest design with a control group was employed, involving 76 hospitalized patients (38 per group) selected via purposive sampling. Participants received a structured, five-day treatment for conditions such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, cerebrovascular accident (stroke), and pneumonia. Eligibility criteria included compos mentis status and uninterrupted completion of the five-day treatment period. Patients who were transferred to other wards were excluded. The intervention group received ShariaSwanCare, administered daily for five consecutive days, with patient satisfaction assessed every 24 hours. The control group received standard hospital care without additional interventions. Data were analyzed using both paired t-tests and independent t-tests. A significance level of p < 0.05 was used for all analyses. Results: Statistical analysis yielded a p-value of < 0.001, indicating that the implementation of ShariaSwanCare had a significant positive effect on patient satisfaction. Specifically, patients in the intervention group showed a greater increase in satisfaction scores compared to the control group. The paired t-test revealed a significant improvement from pre- to post-intervention in both groups, but the effect was more pronounced in the intervention group. Conclusions: Sharia-based nursing practices, when integrated with Swanson’s Caring Model, can effectively enhance patient satisfaction. With appropriate training and structured implementation, these practices have the potential to be adopted across Islamic hospitals.
