Abstract

The digitalization era has made Indonesian consumption patterns changed, especially with the trend of online shopping and the growth of paylater services, which growed 17 times in the last five years. This study aims to examine the role of family communication and financial literacy in reducing children’s consumptive behavior in the context of online shopping and paylater use. The method used is a literature review with a descriptive qualitative approach based on Consumer Socialization Theory. The findings show that family communication are important to prevent overspending through control, education, and guidance, which helps children develop responsible spending habits. Open discussions and strong emotional connections between parents and children are important in in this case. Other solutions such as early financial education, learning how to budget, save, and set shopping priorities, can reduce impulsive buying behavior. The challenges of the digital era, with easy access to e-commerce and paylater that increase impulsive buying risks, making it a must to have strategies such as gadget use supervision, practical education about financial technology risks, and parental role modeling. The study concludes that a comprehensive approach combining effective family communication, sufficient financial literacy, and adaptive strategies is essential to prevent consumptive behavior among Indonesian youth

Abstract

This study explores the construction of virtual identity in the animated film Colorful Stage! A Miku Who Can’t Sing (2025) through Roland Barthes’ semiotic framework. Using a qualitative approach, the analysis focuses on selected visual and auditory signs, including stage design, avatar customization, audience responses, and glitch effects. Each sign is examined at the levels of denotation and connotation, followed by the identification of myths that naturalize particular understandings of digital identity. The findings demonstrate that the film portrays virtual identity as both aspirational and vulnerable: aspirational through the myth of perfection, where avatars appear flawless and empowering, and vulnerable through scenes that reveal emotional fragility and technological disruptions. This duality reflects broader cultural narratives about authenticity, social validation, and the tension between real and virtual selves. By situating the analysis within media semiotics and digital culture, the study highlights how Colorful Stage functions as a cultural text that mirrors contemporary discourses on identity in mediated environments.

Abstract

Abstract

This study analyzes the coverage of a mutilation case in Surabaya that befell a woman as part of the phenomenon of femicide in Indonesia. Using a narrative analysis approach, this study examines how Kompas.id constructs narratives, representations of victims and perpetrators, and the framing patterns used. The results show that the media emphasizes sensational aspects and details of violence rather than structural explanations of the roots of gender-based violence. Victims are often reduced to mere objects of news coverage, while perpetrators are described through psychological narratives that obscure the patriarchal dimension of femicide. These findings indicate the persistence of patriarchal discourse in mainstream media in Indonesia. This research contributes to feminist media studies by emphasizing the framing of femicide as a structural issue closely related to gender inequality, rather than merely individual criminal cases.
