Abstract

The student rules above can make us aware of how important rules are, especially for the Indonesian generation. Research was conducted to analyze the influence of disciplinary regulations on students. The research method uses qualitative case studies. Research subjects were principals, teachers and 4 5th grade students. Through purposive sampling. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, documentation. The data analysis technique uses 4 stages of collecting data, reducing data, presenting data, drawing conclusions. The results of the research show 1) Duties and obligations, in this school you are required to arrive on time but the lack of discipline in students results in them arriving late, but they are not immediately given sanctions, they are reprimanded first or asked what the problem is that causes lateness. 2) Prohibition for students, when they break the rules, such as throwing rubbish carelessly during breaks when leaving their seats, rubbish lying around, then the teacher will automatically monitor who is sitting here, then the children will be called for discipline. 3) Sanctions are binding, no one violates them and is worried, let alone calling their parents, there are some children who break the rules but can still be handled by the teacher.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5) in Islamic Religious Education at SMAN 3 Palangka Raya under the theme “Say No to Cyber Bullying” and to analyze its impact on students. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The informants included the P5 coordinator, Islamic Religious Education teachers, and students. The findings reveal that the P5 project was implemented through careful planning, collaboration between teachers and students, and the application of project-based learning that is contextualized with Islamic teachings and Pancasila values. The Islamic Education teacher acted as a facilitator to integrate moral education with the issue of cyber bullying. Evaluation was carried out through observation, reflection, and assessment of student projects. The project had a positive impact on raising students’ awareness in using social media wisely, enhancing critical thinking skills, and strengthening noble character. However, several challenges were encountered, particularly limited time and coordination among teachers. These challenges highlight the need for flexible scheduling and stronger teacher support. This research is expected to serve as a reference for developing character education strategies based on P5 that are relevant to the challenges of the digital era.

Abstract

This study explores the tolak bala ritual that continues to be preserved by the people of Tanjung Jariangau Village. The ritual is a cultural heritage passed down from ancestors and remains significant even in today’s modern era. The tolak bala ritual is usually performed during outbreaks, natural disasters, or other calamities, aiming to ward off misfortunes and restore harmony within the community. The practice involves reciting specific prayers, such as salawat, and carrying out collective traditional ceremonies that engage the wider community. Interestingly, although the entire population is Muslim, the ritual reflects a form of religious syncretism that combines Islamic values with elements of Hinduism, Buddhism, animism, and dynamism. This illustrates how local traditions adapt and coexist with the religious beliefs of the community. The purpose of this study is to examine the meaning and implementation of the tolak bala ritual and to highlight the integration of Islamic teachings within the tradition. The findings reveal that the ritual is not only regarded as a means of protecting individuals, families, and the village from disaster, but also serves as a form of communal healing and a medium to strengthen social cohesion. Therefore, tolak bala serves a dual function, both religious and social. In conclusion, the ritual reflects a harmonious integration of local cultural traditions with religious values and represents a living cultural identity that is continuously maintained by the people of Tanjung Jariangau.   Keywords: Ritual, Tolak Bala, Syncretism

Abstract

This study aimed to describe how Indonesian vocational school’s English teachers implemented formative assessment methods amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data was gathered through interviews. Two English teachers from one of public vocational school in Rokan Hulu Regency, Indonesia participated in the study. The data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman three-step process, which included data condensation or reduction, data display, and drawing and verifying conclusions. The findings revealed that vocational school’s English teachers utilized both online and offline formative assessment strategies during the COVID-19 pandemic. Online formative assessment was implemented by using Google Classroom and Google Forms, while offline methods included quizzes, questioning and group discussions, short-answer tasks, listening cloze, role play, reading aloud, mind mapping, and dialogue writing. The teachers encountered various challenges in implementing these assessments, such as a lack of human resources, limited internet connectivity in students' homes, and some students lacking access to mobile devices. Additionally, student engagement and motivation were identified as concerns. Nevertheless, the teachers devised solutions to overcome these obstacles, including providing Wi-Fi in designated areas, encouraging students to use their parents' or friends' devices, and actively engaging with less interested students.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low cognitive abilities of students, which have an impact on low learning outcomes. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of interactive PowerPoint learning media on the cognitive abilities of fifth-grade students in the human digestive system material at SDN Banjarsari 3. This research uses a quasi-experimental method with a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. Data collection techniques were carried out through tests. Data analysis was conducted using prerequisite tests, hypothesis testing, and Effect Size. Based on the results of the t-test for the pretest, the significance value was 0.981 > 0.05, so H₀ is accepted. This means there is no significant difference in the initial cognitive abilities of the two groups. The posttest t-test results showed a significance value of 0.002 < 0.05, so H₀ is rejected. This indicates a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group. Furthermore, the Effect Size test results obtained a Cohen's d value of 1.002714, which is classified as high. It can be concluded that interactive PowerPoint learning media significantly influence the improvement of students' cognitive abilities.
