Kabela for Enriching the Contemporary Concept of Choreography at Gorontalo Sitharesmi, Riana Diah; Semiaji, Trubus

Abstract

The Kabela is one of traditional dances of Bolaang Mongondow, which reflects the cultural values of North Sulawesi. Behind the ephemeral form and nature, it is necessary to investigate more deeply the rules and essential values, so that the understanding of the meaning of this dance is completely intact for the Gorontalonese as well as the Bolaang Mongondownese. This research is a starting point for mapping dance styles in eastern Indonesia, through strengthening local cultural values in northern Sulawesi in the construction of contemporary choreographic concepts in Gorontalo. The research integrates the ethnographic techniques with methodical experiments in learning process of a non-traditional choreography for the department of Pendidikan Seni Drama, Tari dan Musik at Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. Ethnographic techniques place field research simultaneously with literature studies, to create a qualitative-phenomenological analysis process that considers emic and ethical data. The choreography process adapts Hawkins' exploration model as a guide for realizing experimental works, which also creates an intersubjective understanding discourse process on the Kabela. The results show the Kabela’s presence as symbols of a noble tradition of the Bolaang Mongondownese as well as its structure. The choreographic concepts then intensify the meaning in the production of imaginative and sensory effects, so that the appreciation towards the dance is active and dynamic. This also shows that, it is by understanding others, that the appreciation of one's own is deepened.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh deskripsi yang mendalam tentang (i) perjalanan budaya antara kebudayaan Banyumas dengan kebudayaan Yogyakarta dan masyarakat penikmat tari di Yogyakarta, (ii) nilai keberadaan tari Cépét Cipit bagi masyarakat dan budaya Banyumasan di Yogyakarta. Penelitian kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan metode pengumpulan data yaitu: observasi, wawancara, studi literatur, dan studi diskografi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (i) tari Cépét Cipit memperoleh respon dan penerimaan yang positif dari masyarakat, diawali dari masyarakat Yogyakarta dan menyebar hingga ke wilayah timur dan utara pulau Jawa. Ruang relasi tarian ini paralel dengan fungsinya sebagai tari pendidikan di ruang pembelajaran seni, sebagai tari pergaulan di ruang komunitas kesenian informal, dan sebagai tari hiburan di ruang acara formal berskala lokal dan nasional.  (ii) Keseluruhan bentuk dan struktur tari Cépét Cipit, kode dan simbol budaya Banyumas adalah dasar, utama dan mayor, yang hadir karena unsur genetis dan pengalaman masa kecil Supriyadi.  Simbol dan budaya Yogyakarta adalah aspek minor yang justru memberi kekuatan tersendiri pada teknik gerak, yang dalam hal ini adalah karena pengalaman ketubuhan dan mental Supriyadi ditempa di dalam lingkungan kesenian Yogyakarta.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of learning activities in singing regional songs as an effort to build the self-confidence of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 7 Gorontalo. The background of this research is based on the importance of developing students’ self-confidence through the arts, particularly in music education. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects are the Cultural Arts teacher and the eighth-grade students involved in the regional song singing activities. The results of the study show that the implementation of singing regional songs was systematically designed through stages of song introduction, vocal practice, and classroom performance. These activities were able to increase students’ courage in self-expression, reduce shyness, and encourage active participation in learning. The conclusion of this research is that learning regional songs has a positive contribution to building and enhancing students’ self-confidence. Therefore, it is recommended that similar activities continue to be developed and become an integral part of cultural arts learning in schools.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat di Desa Tuladenggi, Kecamatan Telaga Biru, Kabupaten Gorontalo dilaksanakan untuk menjawab persoalan rendahnya pemahaman hukum masyarakat terkait sengketa tanah, minimnya peran lembaga desa dalam mediasi, serta keterbatasan akses terhadap layanan hukum. Sasaran utama kegiatan ini adalah masyarakat yang menghadapi persoalan kepemilikan tanah sekaligus memiliki potensi pengembangan ekonomi melalui pemanfaatan lahan. Dengan metode penyuluhan hukum berbasis dialog interaktif dan dilanjutkan monitoring-evaluasi, kegiatan ini berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat tentang pentingnya pendaftaran sertifikat tanah serta penyelesaian sengketa berbasis kearifan lokal. Hasilnya, masyarakat menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi dalam diskusi, memahami prosedur hukum lebih baik, dan mendapat akses layanan baru berupa e-Posbakum (Pos Bantuan Hukum Elektronik) yang memudahkan konsultasi hukum secara digital.

Abstract

This research was motivated by class VII students who were not yet able to perform basic theater acting techniques, especially in sports, so that when performing theater performances they were not optimal. So the researcher formulated the problem of how to learn the basic techniques of theater acting in taste through innovative learning strategies for class VII students at SMP Negeri 6 Boliyohuto. In implementing the learning of basic acting techniques in taste, researchers used innovative learning strategies. This strategy is to facilitate students in building their own knowledge in the context of a process of changing behavior towards a better one according to their individual potential. This research uses qualitative methods which are descriptive analysis. The data collection technique used is through a process of observation, interviews and documentation which will later be presented in the form of a research description. This learning was carried out within 2 months or 8 meetings. The sample that the researchers used was class VIII of SMP Negeri 6 Boliyohuto, totaling 16 students. Based on the results obtained from this research, it can be said to be successful. learning basic theater acting techniques in taste through innovative learning strategies for class VII students at SMP Negeri 6 Boliyohuto makes students more creative, innovative and active from the experiences they gain by studying outside the classroom and in the living environment around the students. From this experience, students are more active and diligent in studying than before.
