Abstract

The optimal growth of school age children depends on the quality and quantitiy of their nutrition. The lack of nutrition can cause disorder on the child’s body growth, such as stunting. The purpose of thisresearch is to analyze the family’s of characteristic, eating patterns, and physical activity of stunting children at SDN 176350 HutagurgurDistrict ofDoloksanggulHumbangHasundutan. This research is descriptive analysis with cross sectional design. This research includes family’s characteristic by giving questioner, counting the adequacy of macro and micro nutrition, food variety and frequency by using 24 hours food recall method and food frequency method. The height of children is measured with microtoice. The result generally shows that the height of the children is 62,8% short and 37,2% very short. The family’s characteristic mostly shows that the mother of stunting children are farmer with percentage of 88,4%. Family’s income is mostly below the minimum wage standart with percentage of 58,1%. The number of children in family with stunting child  are mostly more than two children with  percentage of 95,3%. The adequacy of macro and micro nutrition on stunting children is classified as lack of nutrition with percentage of energy 95,3% protein 93%,calsium 100%,phosphor 58,1%,magnesium 11,6%, zinc 97,7%, vitamin A 95,5% and vitamin C 93%. The physical activity of stunting children are mostly moderate with percentage of 51,2%. Based on the research result, expected to family especially the mother, to providea balanced nutrition intake tochildren. The school and the public health institution recomenndedto cooperate on giving nutrition counseling and also monitoring the nutrition to improve the nutrition status of school-age children .  Keyword:Stunting, Characteristic of Family, Eating Patterns, Physical Activity

Abstract

One of the causes of nutritional problems or Children's growth and development is nurturing,. Among others,  gives attention, time and support for comply the  physical, mental, and social children. Mothers who get married at an early age may not yet understand the good parenting, especially in the fulfillment of nutrition. The purpose of this study is to know the description of parenting with the nutritional status of children in mothers who were married at an early age in the village Tiga Panah Seberaya Karo district of North Sumatra province Year 2016.               This type of research is descriptive research with cross sectional design. The population is all toddlers which born from mothers who married under the age of 19 years, amounting to 66 (total sampling). The data collected in this study include eating pattern, cleanliness pattern, health care pattern and  nutrition status of a toddler based on  W/A, H/A and W/H. The method used is a direct interview using a questionnaire to know the action of  mothers in giving the pattern of eating, pattern of  hygiene, and health pattern for toddlers. Then, to obtain data on weight and height toddlers do for weighing and measuring. The data obtained were analyzed using Chi-square test.               The results showed that category of good eating pattern is 50%, and category of not good eating pattern is 50%, the category of good cleanliness pattern  is 51.5%, and the lowest category of not good cleanliness pattern is 48.5%, and category of  health care pattern is 75.8% and the lowest category of not good health care pattern is 24.2%. While the nutritional status of children is based on W/A mostly in the category of malnutrition is 63.6% and the lowest category of good nutrition is 36.4%, nutritional status of children based on H/A mostly in the normal category is 65.2% and the lowest category short is 34.8%, and the nutritional status of children is based on W/H mostly in skinny category  is 69.7% and the lowest normal category is 30.3%.                Toward health workers to improve the activities about good parenting to the mother and invites mothers to do regularly weigh and height measurement to monitor the abnormal growth of underfive children. Abstract

Dragon fruit peel (Hylocereus polyrhizus) has been considered only a leftover by the community as it is well-thought-out useless while the dragon fruit peel still contains nutrients that are beneficial to the health such as vitamine C, vitamine E, vitamine A, terpenoid, and flavonoid. It also has greater antioxidant activity than fruit flesh itself. Dragon fruit peel can be untilized into food products, one of which is jam. The purpose of this study is to know the acceptance as well as the nutrition of vitamine C and fiber in dragon fruit peel jam. This study was an experimental study with completely randomized designusing two treatments: Dragon fruit peel 60%: 40% fine sugar and dragon fruit peel 50%: 50% fine sugar. The acceptability of dragon fruit peeljam was conducted on 30 students of the Faculty of Public Health University of Sumatera Utara and nutritional content analysis conducted in the Biochemistry Laboratory FMIPA University of Sumatera Utara. Organoleptic test data were analyzed by T Test - Independent Test.   The result analysis of nutrient content of dragon fruit peeljam with A1 treatment(60%:40%) had vitamin C content of 48.4% and fiber 5.4%. The result analysis of nutritious content of dragon fruit peel with A2 treatment (50%: 50%) has vitamin C content of 36.66% and fiber of 4.53%. Based on organoleptic tests on color, aroma, taste and texture, it is known that panelists prefer jam with a ratio of 50% dragon fruit peel and 50% fine sugar. Test T - Independent Test shows the difference of acceptability test from both dragon fruit peeljam crusts in terms of color, smell, taste, and texture indicator. It is suggested that the public be able to utilize the dragon fruit peel to bejam as an additional food alternative as bread stuffing.  Further research is needed on the content of other micro substances confined in dragon fruit peel. Abstract

Attention to the nutrition and health of childrens in the orphanage isstill relatively minimal,thus allowing high malnutrition rates for foster childrens.Similarly, the comparison of the number of childrensare greater than the number of carers, so the attention to nutritional status will be lower. Another possibility of low funding problems so that the nutritional needs was not comparable with the intake received by orphanage childrens. This study aims to find out the description of Food Planning and Food Consumption Pattern Presented and Nutritional Status of Childrens in Aceh Sepakat Orphanage Darul Aitam Foundation Sukaramai Urban Village Medan Area Year 2017.                The type of this research was observational with cross sectional research design. This research have done by looking at master menu, menu cycle and fund allocation. The data of energy and protein consumption was obtained by using food weighing method, foster child food type using food frequency form and eat frequency seen from how many times of daily meal. The sample in this study amounts to 80 people who are foster childrens in Aceh Sepakat Orphanage. The sampling technique was total sampling. Weight of foster childrens was measured using the scales and height of foster childrens used microtoise. Data were analyzed descriptively.  The results showed that the composition of 100% foster childs food was incomplete, energy consumption 57,5% under category AKG, and consumption of protein 58,8% category under AKG. Nutritional status of foster childrens based on BMI/U there are thin 6,3%, normal 81,3%, grease 7,5% and obesity 5,0%. Based on TB/U there are very short 22,5%, short 38,8% and  normal 38,8%. Orphanages are expected to pay more attention to the arrangement of foods that will be consumed by foster childrens so that foster childrens get the nutrients according to the needs of the body, create a master menu and a fixed menu cycle in order to control the funds available properly and perform weighing periodically 1/6 months. Abstract

Behavior from a biological point of view is concerned organism activity that can be observed directly or indirectly. Mother is the name for the woman who gave birth to us, a woman who has been married, call prevalent in women. Breastfeeding is one of the components of the reproductive process consisting of menstruation, conception, pregnancy, childbirth, lactation, and weaning. Exclusive breastfeeding of infants aged 0-6 months is given only breast milk without giving additional food or other drinks. This research was conducted to see the description of mother's behavior in breastfeeding and food complementary in children 0-2 years in Area of ​​Puskesmas Pembantu Padang Bulan Subdistrict of North Rantau Labuhanbatu Regency 2017. This research is a descriptive research with cross sectional design. Data obtained from direct interviews to mother of toddler which include data of knowledge, attitude, and action of mother about breastfeeding and food complementary . Analysis of data processed and analyzed descriptively, presented in the form of frequency distribution table. The result of this research shows that knowledge on good category breast feeding is higher that is 52,5%, for giving exclusing breastfeeding is 46,3%,on food complementary of good category is higher that is 73,8%. Attitudes on breast feeding category is not good higher tht is 51.3%, in food complementary  category not good higher that is 52,5%. The action on breastfeeding category is not good is higher that is 55%, in food complementary  category not good higher that is 55,1%. Based on the results of the study is expected to increase counseling about breastfeeding and food complementary  are good to children under two and for health workers to motivate health cadres in disseminating information to mothers about breastfeeding and food complementary  are good against children under two. Abstract

The infant and child mortality rate of health development of a country and the quality of life of the communit. One effort that can be done to reduce infant mortality rate is through the promotion of eksklusif breastfeeding to infants for 6 months. To support the promotion, one way that can be done is by applying an early breastfeeding initiation program which is giving breast milk to the baby immediately within 1 hour after birth. This study aims to determine the description of the behavior of health workers in the activities of Early Breastfeeding Initiation in RSI Ibnu Sina and RSUD dr. Adnaan WD in Payakumbuh. The type of this research is descriptive quantitative by using cross sectional design. The population of 43 people and all the population sampled (total sampling). Primary data include knowledge, attitudes and actions obtained by interview using questionnaires. Data on the number of early breastfeeding initiation and number of births were ontained from hospital documentation. The results showed that overall behavior of health workers in Early Breastfeeding Initiation activities has been included in the category either with knowledge level that is equal to 83,7%, attitude that is equal to 79,1% and action equal to 69,8% but health worker always doing early breastfeeding initiation activity is only 30,2%. Characteristics of health workers consisting of age, type of education, duration of work and IMD training can not affect health workers in performing IMD activities. Good knowledge and positive attitudes will not always bring good action in the execution of IMD activities, because an action will be possible if conditions and conditions support. It is therefore desirable for the hospitals to require health workers to deliver IMD to every newborn infant with no medical indication that could impede IMD implementation and to give strict sanction to those who do not carry out the activity and to the health officer to further improve the implementation the activity of the IMD in each newborn if there is no medical consideration that can be a hindrance to the implementation of the activity. Abstract

Nutritional status is closely related to the high rate of morbidity and mortality of infant/toddlers, Exclusive breastfeeding is one effort to reduce morbidity and mortality in infants/toddler.One of the causes of the low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding is the lack of maternal health support in terms of counseling to breastfeed babies. This study aims to determine the effect of Exclusive breastfeeding education on knowledge and attitude of pregnant women in Kelurahan Alur Dua Kecamatan Sei Lepan Kabupaten Langkat. This type of research is quasi experimental with one group pre- and post-test design. The population is all 42 and 42 trimester pregnant women. Sampling technique using total sampling technique, Exclusive breastfeeding effect on mother's knowledge and attitude was analyzed by t-dependent test at 95% confidence level. The results showed that the average value of mother's knowledge before giving Exclusive breast feeding was 7.71 and after being given Exclusive breastfeeding counseling of 12,69, the mean of attitude attitude of mother before giving exclusive breast feeding equal to 38,62 and after giving breast feeding Exclusivity of 54.02, this shows that there is a significant increase (p = 0,000) of knowledge and attitude of mother in giving exclusive breastfeeding between before and after being given Exclusive breastfeeding counseling. It is suggested to Langkat District Health Office for exclusive breastfeeding to mother hami as one of the tools to increase coverage of breastfeeding mother in infants / toddlers and health workers to further improve the quality of health services in providing education. Abstract

Stunting case in school-age children is a manifestation from stunting in toddler, because there is no improvement on catch up growth intake of macro and micro nutrients which is not accordance with long term needs. This research aims to know the description intake of nutrients and academic achievement of stunting students in Yayasan Pendidikan SMP Swasta Anugerah Sitinjo Kabupaten Dairi years 2017. This study is a descriptive research with cross sectional study design. This study doing by calculating energy, protein, vitamin A, calcium, phosphorus and iron intake by using 24 hours food recall method and food frequency form, and academic achievement calculating by the value of the report cards. This sample of research is all stunting students as many as 63 students. The result of this study show that intake of nutrients of stunting students in Yayasan Pendidikan SMP Swasta Anugerah Sitinjo Kabupaten Dairi according to the amount of food based on the macro nutrients intake namely energy and protein intake classified deficient, and micro nutrients intake namely vitamin A, calcium, phosphorus and iron classified deficient. According to the type of food  consumed an avarage of 2 types per day and most of the stunting students consume rice as a staple food, fish and eggs as a side dish. From the academic achievement, stunting students is in good chategory. The suggested is the school cooperate with the primary health care to gives nutritional education to children and to stunting students expected to consume complete food sources of nutrients every day suitable with the amount and the type of food to be able to catch up the growth. Abstract

Malnutrition is caused by inadequate food intake and infectious diseases. Nutritional problems, especially short children, inhibit the development of young people with negative impacts that will take place in the next life. This study aimed to find out the pattern of child eating stunting in SMP Negeri 1 Dolok Masihul. Type of this research was descriptive survey research with cross sectional research design. This study was conducted by calculating the adequacy of energy, protein, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc vitamin A, vitamin C and iron by using 24 hours food recall method. This sample of research was all students stunting as many as 102 people. The result of this research showed that the stunting student pattern in SMP Negeri 1 according to the amount of food based on the sufficiency of macro nutrient was the sufficiency of energy equal to 98,0% and protein sufficiency equal to 77,5% less category, and for the sufficiency of micro nutrient that was calcium equal to 98, 0%, phosphorus 92,2%, magnesium 65,7%, zinc 97,1%, vitamin A equal to 88,2%, vitamin C equal to 92,2%, iron equal to 99,0% less category. According to the average type of food consumed was 3 types per day and stunting students eat rice as a staple food. Most stunting students often eat fish, eggs and tempeh as side dishes, kale and cassava leaves as vegetables, and bananas as fruit. For the school it was advisable to cooperate with the puskesmas to make an extension activity and make a poster in every class about the importance of consuming diverse food with enough amount every day to catch up the growth of stunting student. Abstract

ABSTRACT Dumbo catfish (Clarias gariepinus) and bangun bangun leaf (Coleus ambonicus Lour) can be processed  into  biscuit.  Biscuit  is  one  of additional food that can full fill the needs of  people nutrient. Biscuits  had sweet taste and interesting shape. This research purpose to determine the acceptability test and nutritional content of biscuits with the addition of  dumbo catfish and bangun bangun leaf. The   type   of   research   was   an   experiment   conducted   by   completely randomized design using two factors and with two treatments, the treatmens are the  addition  of  dumbo catfish and bangun bangun leaf with  treatments 10% : 20%, and 15% : 20%. The acceptability biscuit with the addition of  dumbo catfish and bangun bangun leaf by FKM USU students as much as 30 people, nutrient   analysis   was   tested   in laboratory of industrial research and standarization Agency Medan. The  results  organoleptic  test  based  on  color,  aroma,  flavor,  and  texture biscuit by thirty students panelist showed the most preferred are biscuit mixture of dumbo  catfish  15% and bangun bangun leaf 20%.  Acceptability  of  students showed  that  two treatments  have  been  preferred  by  people.  The  result  of  nutrional   content   analysis   showed   that   two treatments   has   content   of carbohydrates  54,8g, 55,3 g, content  of  protein 10,2g 11,3g content fat 21,6g 20,9g, content of calcium 397mmg, 362mmg and phosphor 327,6 mmg and 389,4 mmg. It is recommended for people to take of dumbo catfish and bangun bangun leaf biscuit as alternative additional food for people.As well as the need to do further research to see the content of nutrients contained in dumbo catfish and bangun bangun leaf biscuit.
