Abstract

Adiwarman Azwar Karim is one of the experts in the field of Islamic economics so that he is included in the list of fundamentalist Muslim thinkers. His contribution to the development of Islamic banking and economics in Indonesia is not only as a practitioner, but also as an academic. The method in this study is a qualitative literature review. The Islamic economic development strategy that he designed has three levels, namely Islamic economic theory, Islamic economic system, and Muslim economy. The three levels refer to the components of language, discourse, main actors, and arguments related to the development of Islamic economics. When one of these levels is not achieved, it will not result in the establishment of Islam in the economic field. A strong Islamic economic theory without the implementation of the system will not have an impact on economic life.

Abstract

This study discusses the problems faced by Islamic Boarding School students of Al-Azhar Pegasing Takengon in Arabic script translation skills. The problem is how to transfer speech from the source language to the target language without changing the original meaning and therefore it can be understood by the readers of the target language properly and correctly. Consequently, there is a need for a communicative translation theory, namely a theory that departs from understanding the writing and language aspects of the target language reader. The research method employed in this article is a descriptive approach, while the method of collecting data and research information uses two methods, including library research methods and field research methods. The problems faced by students in learning translation are: (1) weak vocabulary understanding, (2) weakness in understanding morphology and syntax rules, (3) weakness in understanding the use of verb changes, (4) lack of repetition of Arabic text material independently , (5) Difficulty in constructing Indonesian sentences, (6) poor ability to distinguish between idhafah and conjunctions. Several solutions are offered which include students developing motivation to learn translation because translation is one of the important lessons in our religion (understanding Islamic and Sharia law), and they must enrich themselves with a wealth of language rules so that they can easily translate texts. Arabic text and they should learn the translation well.

Abstract

Implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education is an essential obligation for every lecturer within a higher education institution, whether at the university, institute, or college level. It involves a diverse range of tasks and characteristics aligned with licensing regulations governing scientific work management. Utilizing reference manager software, such as Mendeley and Zotero, serves as a crucial tool in maximizing support for drafting scientific articles. The primary aim is to empower lecturers and peers to effectively employ these reference manager applications in their scientific writing endeavors. This process unfolds in three sequential stages, culminating in evaluating the articles produced subsequent to the training sessions. The outcomes reveal an enhanced grasp and utilization of desktop applications like Mendeley among participants. While some individuals initially struggled with manual methods, post-training, they demonstrated a clearer understanding of Mendeley's functionality and application in crafting scientific papers. Participants not only comprehend the significance of Mendeley but also exhibit proficiency in operating the Mendeley desktop on their work devices, harnessing its conveniences for their scientific research.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of andragogical principles in higher education, with a focus on the context of STAIN SAS Bangka Belitung. Andragogy, as a learner-centered approach, emphasizes the unique needs of adult learners, including self-directed learning, the integration of prior experiences, and the relevance of education to real-world applications. Through a mixed-methods approach, this research evaluates the effectiveness of a professional development program designed to enhance lecturers' understanding and application of andragogical principles. Data were collected through pre- and post-training assessments, student evaluations, and interviews with lecturers. The findings reveal a significant improvement in lecturers' knowledge of andragogy, with post-test scores increasing by 23.9% compared to pre-test results. Student evaluations further indicated that lecturers effectively applied andragogical principles, particularly in understanding learners' self-concept and fostering a learner-centered environment. However, challenges were identified in integrating students' prior experiences and aligning course content with andragogical principles. Barriers such as insufficient lecturer innovation, inadequate learning facilities, and students' pragmatic orientations were also noted. Conversely, enablers such as institutional support, training opportunities, and student motivation facilitated the successful adoption of andragogical practices. The study underscores the importance of continuous professional development and institutional support in promoting andragogical approaches in higher education. Recommendations include revising curricula to better reflect andragogical principles, investing in modern learning facilities, and fostering a culture of innovation among lecturers. Future research should explore the long-term impact of andragogical training on teaching practices and student outcomes, as well as the role of institutional policies in sustaining these practices. By addressing these challenges and leveraging existing enablers, institutions like STAIN SAS Bangka Belitung can create more effective and engaging learning environments for adult learners, ultimately enhancing the quality of higher education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of differentiated learning in enhancing curriculum innovation within the framework of the Merdeka Curriculum at SMAN 1 Batang Gansal, Indragiri Hulu Regency. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using purposive sampling techniques, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings reveal that teachers’ understanding as designers, facilitators, and motivators is developed through self-directed learning and professional development programs facilitated by the school, although variations exist due to differences in training and competencies. The implementation of differentiated learning aligns with Tomlinson’s theory, encompassing diagnostic assessment, curriculum analysis, and implementation in aspects of content, process, product, and learning environment. This strategy plays a vital role in fostering curriculum innovation, enhancing teachers’ creativity through project-based learning and the use of interactive digital media, and positively influencing students’ motivation and engagement. Challenges in implementation occur at three levels: (1) managerial high administrative workload and limited facilities; (2) teacher lack of understanding, time constraints, and inadequate resources; and (3) student heavy learning load and low motivation. The proposed solutions include continuous teacher training, development of practical learning modules, utilization of technology through a Learning Management System (LMS), and infrastructure support funded by the School Operational Assistance Program (BOSP).
