Abstract

Mathematical reasoning ability is one of the most important parts of mathematics learning. However, the facts show that students' mathematical reasoning ability is still low, especially in the context of the Pythagorean theorem. One attempt to facilitate this is using students' worksheets based on creative problem solving (CPS). This research aims to develop valid and practical student' worksheets. It refers to the 4D development model, which includes defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. The instruments used are validation and practicality questionnaire sheets. The results of the validity assessment of students' worksheets were very valid, with an average percentage of 95,07%. The results of the practicality assessment of students' worksheets were very practical, with an average rate of 89,38%. Thus, it is in accord with the valid and practical requirements, so the worksheet is usable. This research aims to make it easier for students to build knowledge independently in mathematics learning so that mathematical reasoning abilities can be facilitated. Kemampuan penalaran matematis (KPM) menjadi salah satu aspek yang terpenting dalam pembelajaran matematika, namun fakta menunjukkan KPM peserta didik masih rendah khususnya pada konten teorema Pythagoras. Salah satu upaya untuk memfasilitasi masalah tersebut dengan menggunakan Lembar kerja peserta didik (LEMBAR KERJA SISWA) berbasis Creative Problem Solving (CPS). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan LEMBAR KERJA SISWA yang valid dan praktis. Penelitian pengembangan ini mengacu pada model pengembangan 4D yang meliputi define, design, develop, dan disseminate. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah angket validasi dan angket praktikalitas. Hasil analisis data angket validasi diperoleh bahwa LEMBAR KERJA SISWA dikategorikan sangat valid dengan persentase rata-rata yaitu 95,07%. Hasil analisis data angket praktikalitas diperoleh bahwa LEMBAR KERJA SISWA dikategorikan sangat praktis dengan persentase rata-rata yaitu 89,38%. Maka, LEMBAR KERJA SISWA pada penelitian ini telah memenuhi syarat valid dan praktis sehingga dapat digunakan dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mempermudah peserta didik dalam membangun pengetahuan secara mandiri pada pembelajaran matematika sehingga kemampuan penalaran matematis dapat terfasilitasi.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to repair the mathematic learningprocess of Initial Value Matter and Boundary Requirement (IVMBR)course. The variables which have been examined (1) the activities of lecturerand students in learning process, (2) the development of student grades, and(3) the completeness of student result in studying of IVBVP. These actionshave been done in three cycles based on data’s analysis, we get the result (1)the lecturer and students activities in learning process have been improved,(2) the development of student grades is rather the same in three of thecycles, and (3) the student who could reach the studying completely. Afterfirst cycle, these students get A or B  increasing to 62,50,`4%, and aftersecond cycle, the completeness of study has increased to 66,67%, and afterthird cycle, the completeness of studying have increased to 75,00%. Basedon these informations, the constrctivism learning is good to use in learing ofIVMBR course.

Abstract

The fact that students' mathematical representation abilities are still relatively low is an issue that continues to this day in the education sector. One of the factors that influence this issue is the lack of evaluation and habituation of students in solving mathematical problems that facilitate mathematical representation abilities. Good instruments certainly need to support these evaluation and habituation efforts. This research aims to produce an instrument for assessing students' mathematical representation abilities that meets criteria that are valid, reliable, have a good discriminatory item value, and good level of difficulty. This development research uses the Borg and Gall development model, which is carried out up to the main fields testing stage. From the research results, a set of instruments for assessing representational ability in Three - Dimensional topic which amounted to 15 questions, with 8 questions in Question Package 1 and 7 questions in Question Package 2, which met the criteria for validity, reliability, and have a good discriminatory item value with a good level of difficulty too. The instrument for assessing students' mathematical representation abilities was developed from these results and met with good final results.

Abstract

The motivated of this research is the low level of mathematical problem-solving ability of students at SMAN 1 Benai Kuansing. The purposes of this research are: 1) to describe the differences in mathematical problem-solving skills of students who study through the SSCS model with students who study through learning with a scientific approach; and 2) to examine the improvement in mathematical problem-solving skills of students who study through the SSCS model and students who study through learning with a scientific approach. This research is an experimental research (quasi experiment) with the Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The result showed that the improvement in mathematical problem-solving ability of students who study through the SSCS model is higher than that of students who study through learning with a scientific approach. The conclutions is; 1)There is a significant average difference between the mathematical problem-solving abilities of students who follow the SSCS learning model and those of students who follow learning with a scientific approach; 2) Improvement the mathematical problem-solving ability of students who follow the SSCS learning model is better than improvement the mathematical problem-solving ability of students who follow learning with a scientific approach.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematis (KKM) peserta didik fase D di SMPN 4 Tambang dengan menerapkan Problem Based Learning (PBL) pada materi statistika. Penelitian ini menggunakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang melibatkan seluruh peserta didik kelas VIII yang meliputi 32 peserta didik kelas VIII_3 SMPN 4 Tambang. Penelitian dilakukan sebanyak empat pertemuan dan dilakukan pada semester genap tahun 2023/2024. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari instrumen pengumpul data yang meliputi lembar pengamatan dan tes KKM. Teknik pengumpul data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah teknik pengamatan dan teknik tes KKM. Data diperoleh melalui tes KKM dan observasi aktivitas peserta didik selama proses pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan PBL dapat memperbaiki proses pembelajaran dan KKM peserta didik SMPN 4 Tambang dibandingkan dengan model pembelajaran konvensional. Peningkatan KKM peserta didik dilihat dari hasil analisis KKM secara klasikal. Selain itu, penerapan PBL juga memfasilitasi peserta didik untuk lebih aktif berdiskusi, bertukar pendapat, serta mampu untuk mengungkapkan ide dan solusi matematis secara jelas dan sistematis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan PBL dapat meningkatkan proses pembelajaran dan meningkatkan KKM peserta didik SMPN 4 Tambang tahun pelajaran 2023/2024 pada konten statistika.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the mathematical connection ability of first-semester students at the beginning of the trigonometry course. The research subjects were first-semester students of the Mathematics Education Study Program in the 2024/2025 academic year. The research method used was descriptive with a mixed-method approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative data. The research procedure consisted of three stages: (1) development of research instruments, (2) administration of a mathematical connection ability test, and (3) analysis of student responses. The instrument used was a trigonometry test that included indicators of mathematical connection ability. The results show that at the beginning of the course, students' mathematical connection abilities were still relatively low. The percentage of students in the very good category was only 0.83%, good category 10%, fair category 40.83%, poor category 45.84%, and very poor category 2.5%. Further analysis revealed that students in the high category were able to connect mathematical concepts and apply them to real-world problems but struggled to relate different mathematical representations. Meanwhile, students in the low category had difficulties in all aspects of mathematical connections, including linking concepts, connecting representations, and applying mathematics to real-life situations.

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to develop instructional materials for teaching statistics using a contextual teaching and learning strategy. The goal is to enhance the mathematical connection abilities of eighth-grade junior high school students. The materials are designed to meet the criteria of validity and practicality. The present study involves the development of a 4-D model, encompassing the stages of Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The validation process was carried out by involving three experts. Data pertaining to the feasibility of the teaching materials were acquired through testing conducted on eighth-grade students in a junior high school. The present study examines the validation outcomes of teaching materials, which were categorised as highly valid. Based on the findings of the readability assessment, it was determined that the average score for the "easy to understand" category was 86.97%. In addition, the practicality test meets the "very practical" category. These findings indicate that the use of a contextual approach in statistics material effectively improves students' mathematical connection abilities. This technique proves to be legitimate, easily comprehensible, and particularly beneficial for promoting the development of mathematical connections among eighth-grade junior high school students. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan dalam pengembangan bahan ajar untuk pengajaran statistika menggunakan strategi pengajaran dan pembelajaran kontekstual untuk meningkatkan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa SMP kelas delapan. Materi dirancang untuk memenuhi kriteria validitas dan kepraktisan. Penelitian ini melibatkan pengembangan model 4-D, yang mencakup tahapan Define, Design, Develop, dan Disseminate. Proses validasi dilakukan dengan melibatkan tiga orang ahli. Data mengenai kelayakan bahan ajar diperoleh melalui pengujian yang dilakukan pada siswa kelas delapan di sekolah menengah pertama. Penelitian ini mengkaji hasil validasi bahan ajar yang dikategorikan sangat valid. Berdasarkan hasil penilaian keterbacaan yang dilakukan, diperoleh bahwa skor rata-rata untuk kategori "mudah dipahami" adalah 86,97%. Selain itu, uji kepraktisan memenuhi kategori "sangat praktis". Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan pendekatan kontekstual dalam materi statistika efektif meningkatkan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa. Bahan ajar ini terbukti valid, mudah dipahami, dan sangat bermanfaat untuk mendorong pengembangan koneksi matematika di kalangan siswa kelas delapan SMP.

Abstract

AbstractMathematical literacy is a crucial skill, yet many students still struggle with solving contextual problems due to limited supporting materials such as student worksheets (LKPD). This study is a research and development (R&D) study employing the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate) aimed at producing a student worksheet based on Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) that is both valid and practical. The developed content focuses on systems of linear equations in two variables. The worksheet was validated by three mathematics education experts, tested through a one-to-one evaluation with three students, and a small group test with 22 eighth-grade students from a public junior high school in Riau Province. Validation results showed the worksheet to be highly valid in terms of content, construct, CTL approach, and mathematical literacy. The practicality test indicated that the worksheet was practical in terms of appearance, presentation, and usefulness. It can be concluded that the developed worksheet is both valid and practical. Further research is suggested to examine its effectiveness and adaptability to other topics or grade levels. AbstrakKemampuan literasi matematis penting dimiliki siswa, namun masih banyak yang mengalami kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan masalah kontekstual karena keterbatasan LKPD yang mendukung. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan (R&D) dengan model 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) yang bertujuan menghasilkan LKPD berbasis Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). Materi yang dikembangkan berfokus pada sistem persamaan linear dua variabel. LKPD divalidasi oleh tiga dosen pendidikan matematika, diuji melalui one-to-one evaluation dengan tiga siswa, serta small group testdengan 22 siswa kelas VIII dari salah satu SMP Negeri di Provinsi Riau. Hasil validasi menunjukkan LKPD sangat valid dari segi isi, konstruksi, pendekatan CTL, dan literasi matematis. Uji kepraktisan menunjukkan LKPD tergolong praktis dari aspek tampilan, penyajian, dan manfaat. Dengan demikian, LKPD yang dikembangkan dinyatakan valid dan praktis. Penelitian selanjutnya disarankan untuk menguji efektivitas serta mengadaptasikan LKPD ini pada topik atau jenjang yang berbeda.
