Abstract

Cardiac arrest is an emergency condition that can be life-threatening and result in death if not treated immediately. Cardiac arrest can occur in various locations, from those that cannot be anticipated (outside the hospital) to those that can be anticipated (for example; intensive care room). When there is a victim of cardiac arrest, people who are near the victim have a very big role in carrying out CPR quickly. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is an important determinant in the survival of cardiac arrest victims. This is the basis that everyone must know and understand the basic life support needed if a cardiac arrest occurs. This community service activity aims to increase the readiness of the cloud community to carry out basic life support/cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Using lecture methods, question and answer, discussion and simulation. The target of this community service activity is ordinary people in Tolitoli Regency, totaling 65 people. From the results of the post-test carried out, there was an increase in knowledge from an average score of 25 during the pre-test, increasing to 75 during the post-test. It can be concluded that there is an increase in knowledge and skills in ordinary people after education and simulations are carried out.

Abstract

Introduction: Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death globally, with 17.9 million deaths in 2019, of which 85% were caused by stroke and coronary heart disease (CHD). In Indonesia, CHD accounts for 26.4% of all deaths; therefore, controlling risk factors is a priority. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between modifiable risk factors (smoking, obesity, hypertension, and lifestyle) and the incidence of CHD. Methods: This analytical study used a cross-sectional design with accidental sampling and was conducted at the Heart Polyclinic of the Undata Hospital, Central Sulawesi, in August 2025. A total of 112 respondents aged ?35 years who sought treatment were included in this study. Data were collected through direct measurements (blood pressure, height, and weight) and questionnaires assessing smoking habits, lifestyle, and medical histories. Ethical approval was obtained from the Health Research Ethics Committee of Poltekkes Kemenkes Palu. Data analysis included univariate, chi-squared (95% CI), and logistic regression tests. Results: Among 112 respondents, 56 (50%) were diagnosed with CHD. There was a significant association between CHD and smoking (p < 0.001), obesity (p = 0.004), hypertension (p = 0.001), and lifestyle habits (p = 0.031). Logistic regression analysis identified smoking as the strongest predictor of CHD (odds ratio [OR] = 16.626; p = 0.009). Conclusion: Smoking, obesity, hypertension, and lifestyle were significant risk factors for CHD, with smoking emerging as the main determinant. Preventive strategies should prioritize smoking cessation, weight control, hypertension management, and promotion of healthy lifestyles.

Abstract

Abstract: Cases of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension and diabetes mellitus continue to increase in Baiya Village. The low public knowledge about healthy lifestyles and early detection, as well as the limited role of health cadres, exacerbate this situation. In addition, the coverage of Early Breastfeeding Initiation (IMD) and exclusive breastfeeding is still low due to the lack of education for pregnant women. This service activity aims to increase the capacity of health cadres in NCD screening and strengthen pregnant women's knowledge related to IMD. The methods used included socialization, interactive counseling, and practical training for 20 residents aged ≥35 years, 5 youth, and 10 pregnant women. Evaluation is carried out through pre-test and post-test. The results showed an increase in NCD knowledge in the community from 36% to 88%, exclusive knowledge of IMD/ASI in pregnant women increased from 50% to 100%, and 100% of cadres were able to conduct blood pressure screening and BMI calculations. This intervention has been shown to significantly increase health awareness and skills of cadres.

Abstract

Abstract: Stunting remains a persistent public health issue in Indonesia and is closely linked to anemia among adolescent girls and limited household access to nutritious foods. This community engagement program aimed to strengthen the role of adolescent girls in stunting prevention by improving the knowledge of health and youth cadres and promoting the use of home gardens as nutrition sources. Conducted in Palu City, the program involved 29 participants and utilized interactive education supported by leaflets. Knowledge levels were assessed using pre- and post-tests. Findings showed a significant improvement in cadre knowledge regarding anemia, stunting, and home garden utilization (p = 0.001). The program also encouraged cadres to revitalize home gardens to increase the availability of nutrient-rich foods. These results demonstrate that structured education effectively enhances community capacity for stunting prevention and underscores the importance of sustaining such initiatives through continued mentoring and practical implementation.
