Abstract

The Marmet technique, which combines breast expression and massage, is designed to stimulate the breast milk ejection reflex. This method is believed to enhance the smooth flow of breast milk in postpartum mothers, but requires scientific validation. This study aimed to examine the effect of the Marmet technique on breastfeeding smoothness among postpartum mothers in the working area of the Watunohu Health Center, North Kolaka Regency. A quasi-experimental design with a two-group post-test only approach was employed. The study involved 32 postpartum mothers, divided into an intervention group (n=16) and a control group (n=16) through purposive sampling. The intervention group received the Marmet technique according to standard operating procedures (SOP), while the control group did not receive any treatment. Breastfeeding smoothness was assessed using a questionnaire covering eight indicators. Data were analyzed with the Mann-Whitney test, with a significance level set at p 0.05. On the fourth day postpartum, exclusive breastfeeding smoothness was achieved in 62.5% of mothers in the intervention group compared to only 18.8% in the control group. The Mann-Whitney test yielded a p-value of 0.017 (0.05), indicating a statistically significant effect of the Marmet technique. These findings demonstrate that the Marmet technique results in a significant increase in exclusive breastfeeding rates among postpartum mothers. It is recommended that healthcare providers in maternal and child health services adopt this technique as part of routine interventions to promote successful breastfeeding.

Abstract

Newborn babies (BBL) are babies aged 0 to 28 days who are able to develop with full adaptation from intrauterine to extrauterine life. Newborn babies are very vulnerable to health problems and must receive optimal care or midwife services. Apart from receiving care for newborns, the need for optimal early detection, prevention of complications and neonatal emergencies in accordance with midwifery management as a standard for health workers must also be carried out. Outreach activities regarding optimizing care for newborns in increasing the knowledge of midwives, mothers and the community regarding health problems that babies can experience after birth into the world. This is closely related to neonatal emergencies. The target of this PKM activity is to know and understand the positive impacts associated with providing optimal care for newborns

Toddler age is the age group that most often experiences malnutrition. Malnutrition in toddlers can have an unavoidable negative impact, where the worst manifestations can cause death. The purpose of this activity is to provide knowledge about nutrition in toddlers so that the community can be motivated to improve nutrition in toddlers. The implementation method used lectures, discussions, and questions and answers. The results of this activity obtained that residents who attended the counseling event understood and understood about nutrition in toddlers, managing food and types of food that contain nutrition in toddlers. The evaluation and impact of this activity are mothers who have toddlers in the area of PMB Siti Rahayu, S.Tr.Keb (± 30 people), the process is carried out by looking at the participants' responses through questions asked or feedback given in the discussion.

Abstract

Prevention of maternal mortality is one of the most important goals of maternal and neonatal services. The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is one of the important indicators of public health. The causes are bleeding, hypertension in pregnancy, infection, abortion and prolonged labor. The results of the activity show that mothers and families are active in participating in counseling and the results of health examinations still find pregnant women in the high-risk category. Until now, the maternal mortality rate (MMR nashi is around 305 per 100,000 live births, the target of 183 per 100,000 live births in 2023 has not been achieved. Likewise, babies and toddlers still have to be saved from death.

Abstract

Prolonged labor is a risk factor for maternal and infant mortality. Labor progresses through four phases, with stage II being the second to last. The administration of young (green) coconut water to intranasal women was investigated to see if it would increase the duration of the second stage. This study aimed to determine whether consuming young coconut water during labor can reduce the length of stage II in intrapartum women. A Quasi-Experimental design with a post-test-only control group was used for this investigation. Thirty-four residents of RSIA Puskesmas bara-baraya were randomly selected and divided into two groups: those given young coconut water and those given a placebo. Of the total 34 respondents, it was determined by Independent T-Test analysis that 16 (47.1%) of the Old Stage II intervention group experienced fast, and 1 (2.9%) experienced slow. In contrast, among those who took the control group survey, the fastest response time was 2.9%, and the slowest was 47.1%. Giving young (green) coconut water to laboring mothers is effective in increasing intranasal maternal strength in long-stage II labor, so it is recommended for health workers to further improve care for laboring mothers by making contractions (labor) effective in non-pharmacological ways.

Abstract

Analisis regresi logistik mengungkapkan bahwa faktor risiko paling signifikan terhadap kematian neonatal adalah berat badan lahir rendah (OR = 4,21), gangguan pernapasan (OR = 3,74), infeksi maternal (OR = 2,89), tidak dilakukan inisiasi menyusu dini (OR = 2,42), serta rendahnya akses pelayanan kesehatan (OR = 2,11).
