Abstract

Geopolitical changes in the second decade of the 21st century have shifted the centre of international political power. Non-Western political power centres emerged and increased influence as the unipolar world transformed into a multipolar one. In contrast to the Cold War era, where ideology was the main instrument in dealing with Western influence, some contemporary geopolitical power centres carry the perception of historical glory as an important factor in their foreign policy, as demonstrated by Turkey under the leadership of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan with its neo-Ottomanism and Russia under Vladimir Putin with Eurasianism. By using discourse analysis methods on data collected through a literature review, this research finds that the perception of the historical glory of neo-Ottomanism and Eurasianism is important as a political bargaining instrument and shows opposition to Western unipolarity, even though there are differences in the level of coerciveness in the practices implemented by the two countries.

Abstract

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has emerged as a significant concept in understanding responsible business practices carried out by Multinational Corporations (MNCs). According to the World Business Council on Sustainable Development (WBCSD), CSR is defined as a continuous commitment by businesses to behave ethically, contribute to economic development, improve the quality of life for their employees, and enhance the well-being of the surrounding communities. In the current landscape, many MNCs wield more influence and power than entire nations, even global institutions like the United Nations (UN). Consequently, CSR has become a crucial issue, reflecting the accountability of various MNCs in the eyes of the public. Over time, CSR has been increasingly adopted by business leaders as an integral part of their operations, driven by the realization that businesses must make a positive contribution to solving societal issues. The extensive discussion surrounding CSR has given rise to multiple perspectives, ranging from a managerial perspective within companies to a global norm acknowledged by various international actors. These perspectives began to take shape in the 1970s, fueled by rapid industrialization and the emergence of social and environmental movements, particularly those advocating for workers' rights.

Abstract

The rapid development of globalization has triggered increased free trade and, at the same time, strengthened the role of Multinational Corporations (MNCs) in supporting global economic growth. The Southeast Asia region, with its impressive market potential and Gross Domestic Growth (GDP), is the main attraction for MNCs in investing capital and developing their markets in this region. However, this great economic success also presents challenges in the form of negative impacts on the environment and society. A condition of dualism in development emerged, where MNCs contributed to rapid economic growth but often resulted in environmental degradation and social dislocation. Therefore, it is important to ensure that the economic growth generated by MNCs is carried out responsibly so that it does not harm the environment and local communities. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is important in overcoming these challenges in Southeast Asia. This region has a strategic role in the global economy, abundant natural resources, and various industrial sectors that face employment problems. A number of steps have been taken to implement CSR, including increasing awareness, learning, and regulation at national and regional levels. This creates a strong foundation for promoting responsible CSR practices in Southeast Asia, which will help maintain sustainable economic growth, protect the environment, and improve the well-being of local communities.

Abstract

Narcotics abuse has extensive negative impacts on individuals, families, and society, including physical harm to organs and mental health disorders. Addressing teenage narcotics problems requires collaborative efforts involving educational institutions, families, and psychologists. Currently, narcotics has increasingly targeted teenagers, becoming a serious issue that demands special attention in prevention and treatment. Handling narcotic problems at the adolescent level necessitates close collaboration among educational institutions, families, and the community, including psychologists. Emphasizing the importance of early detection and prevention, this study proposes a method to detect the possibility of narcotic abuse in adolescents using the Go/No-Go Association Task (GNAT) test designed by psychologists. The study introduced the TelUnisba Neuropsychology EEG Dataset (TUNDA), an open EEG dataset with data on the emotional and habitual aspects of drug abuse in Indonesia, classified into "normal" and "risk" by psychologists. The processed EEG signal is the visual evoked potential (VEP) within 1000 milliseconds following the visual stimulus onset. The data is classified as “slow” and “fast” based on respondent's responses using MobileNetV2 architecture. Results showed MobileNetV2 achieved the highest accuracy for both normal and risk categories, with accuracies of 0.86 and 0.85 respectively. This study obtained ethical clearance and received funding support from Telkom University and Universitas Islam Bandung, with technical assistance from the Smart Data Sensing Laboratory. The authors declare no conflicts of interest related to this study.

Abstract

The population and diversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in soil vary greatly, influenced by biotic and abiotic factors. West Lampung Regency is a major prpper production center with distinct biotic and abiotic factors. These differences affect the diversity of AMF in pepper cultivation areas in West Lampung Regency. This study aimed to determine the differences in the population and diversity of indigenous AMF in the rhizosphere of pepper plants grown in monoculture and mixed cropping system. Soil sample were collected from monoculture and mixed pepper plantations. The AMF population in the samples was determined by isolating AMF spores from the soil using the wet sieving method. Trap cultures were established using soil samples from each plantation, using maize as the host plant, for duration of 3 months. The results showed that the AMF population in the rhizosphere of mixed pepper plantation was higher than that in monoculture plantations. Based on trap culture, 9 AMF types (S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S6, S7, S8, and S9) were identified in mixed cropping system, while 5 AMF types (S4, S5, S6, S7, and S9) were found in monoculture plantations.
