Abstract

This systematic review of 138 peer-reviewed articles published in the past decade, sourced from ScienceDirect, examines the role of spatial connectivity in shaping social life. Employing the PRISMA methodology, 18 high-quality articles were meticulously analyzed using targeted keywords such as “space syntax,” “social interaction,” “connectivity,” and “integration.” The review identifies three key domains that structure social life: spatial accessibility, urban design configuration, and mobility infrastructure. Drawing from urban planning, sociology, and architectural theory, a conceptual model emerges, elucidating how spatial connectivity fosters interaction, well-structured design supports engagement, and integrated mobility enhances social capital. These findings provide actionable insights for planners and policymakers, enabling them to develop post-pandemic resilience and inclusive spatial strategies. However, the limited dataset signals the need for future research that incorporates broader contexts and advanced analytical technologies.

Abstract

The Seberang Masjid region is one of the last places that still looks like Banjar Village, and it has a unique art called sasirangan cloth. The government and the corporate sector changed the name of the region to Kampung Sasirangan in 2010 to make local knowledge more valuable. This development affects the change in the role of homes, which are now used for more than just living in. They are now used for business and manufacturing. The several steps in making sasirangan cloth affect how craftspeople act, which in turn affects how the company house uses space. This study seeks to identify and analyse the spatial utilization patterns in the residences of sasirangan textile craftspeople in Kampung Sasirangan, Banjarmasin. The research methodology employed is a case study utilizing a qualitative approach, incorporating field observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results show that there are 17 craftsmen's houses on the land, along the riverbanks, and above the river. There are two primary ways that space is used: one building mass and two building masses. Craftsmen do not have a separate place to work; instead, they make the most of the space they already have by changing it to fit the stage of production. Craftsmen who have more complicated production stages use space in a wider range of ways.

Abstract

Jami Adji Amir Hasanoeddin mosque is a symbol of the cultural and historical development of the city, especially regarding the entry of Islam into Kutai Kartanegara. The arrival of Islam in the Kutai kingdom certainly brought great cultural influence and acculturation, including the mosque style. In the context of the development of an increasingly globalized city and as a symbol that supports the image of the city, the architectural identity of the Jami Adji Amir Hasanoeddin Mosque needs to be identified as a guide in facing possible changes. This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The data were collected through interviews and field observations. The units of observation are determined based on the research framework compiled from the theory of architectural identity. The unit of observation for architectural identity includes spatial organization, time, semantics, design principles, building form, building materials, and context with the environment. From the results of the study, it was found that there was acculturation of Kutai, Javanese, Malay, Middle Eastern, and Dutch Indis architecture from each unit of observation of Architectural Identity.
