Abstract

Based on the performance achievements of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, in 2023 unmanagedwaste amounted to 5,899,371.35 tons/year. The data shows that there is still a waste management process atthe upstream level that is not optimal. The downstream of waste, namely landfills, is an obstacle due toexcess capacity. It was recorded that 38 landfills burned in 2023 in a number of regions in Indonesia. Oneof the landfills that caught fire was the Sarimukti landfill located in Bandung. Before the waste is finallydumped in the landfill, the waste will transit in the TPS. The purpose of this study was to design a layout atthe Widyatama University TPS using the TPS-3R method and SNI 19-2454-2002. Observations andobservations were made in June and July 2023 at Widyatama University TPS to see the condition of wastegeneration and TPS buildings, while the observations made were measurements of the TPS area andidentification of the current layout conditions. The proposed layout design for Widyatama University TPSis divided into 5 places based on the largest waste category, namely: leaf organic waste with a size of 1 x 1.5x 1 m; food waste organic waste with a size of 1 x 1.5 x 1 m; plastic inorganic waste 1.5 x 1.5 x 1 m;cardboard / paper inorganic waste with a size of 1.3 x 1.5 x 1 m; and styrofoam inorganic waste with a sizeof 0.7 x 1.5 x 1 m. At the TPS, a mixed waste outpouring area is also made as a waste bin before sorting, then an organic waste processing area is made which contains an organic waste chopping machine, and acontainer is prepared as a storage area for residual waste.

Abstract

Indonesia’s maritime trade development heavily depends on the effective utilization of its port infrastructure, particularly in Sumatra, which is strategically located along the Malacca Strait and near major ASEAN markets. However, trade and logistics activities remain concentrated in Java, creating regional imbalances and leaving western Indonesian ports underutilized. This study aims to identify the most strategic ports in Sumatra that can serve as international trade hubs by developing a spatially integrated, multi-criteria evaluation framework. Three main criteria, trade volume, global connectivity, and multimodal accessibility, were assessed using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) based on expert input from port management, logistics, and transport planning specialists. Geographic Information System (GIS)-based proximity analysis was applied to evaluate each port’s access to roads, railways, and industrial centers, producing a Multimodal Connectivity Index integrated into the AHP model. The findings reveal that Boom Baru (Palembang), Belawan (Medan), and Batu Ampar (Batam) rank as the top-performing ports, with final scores of 0.875, 0.855, and 0.800, respectively. These ports exhibit high trade volumes and superior multimodal connectivity, with Boom Baru and Belawan achieving the highest connectivity index (2.67 out of 3.00). In contrast, Pekanbaru and Tanjung Balai Karimun scored lower due to limited infrastructure and weaker integration. The study concludes that incorporating GIS-based spatial analysis into the AHP framework reduces subjectivity in port evaluation and provides a replicable, data-driven tool for regional infrastructure prioritization. This approach contributes a novel composite index and offers strategic insights for developing Sumatra’s role in Indonesia’s maritime trade network.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to ascertain an analysis of environmental literacy skills based on Hands-on Activities (HoA) among Muhammadiyah 16 Surabaya Elementary School students. By employing the Hands-on Activity (HoA) method in this learning activity, children can engage in a pleasant and non-boring manner. The research method employed for this study is qualitative-descriptive, utilizing data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, documentation, and audio-visual methods. Data analysis involves descriptive techniques such as data reduction, data display, and data verification. Furthermore, data validity is ensured through triangulation techniques. The research findings can be concluded that the Hands-on Activity (HoA) learning method has a significant impact on students' environmental awareness, promoting their ongoing commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability. Through the HoA teaching approach, students are encouraged to directly identify elements within their environment, recording the names of local regions and the Latin names of plants found around the school vicinity. The HoA method underscores a constructivist learning approach, placing more emphasis on student-centered learning where students are directly engaged in observing real-life phenomena or situations.

Abstract

This study is motivated by high transportation costs caused by direct material distribution from suppliers in Bandung to four project sites without passing through a central distribution warehouse. The distribution distances reach 152 km (C1), 154 km (C2), 139 km (C3), and 143 km (C4), resulting in increased logistics costs, difficulties in inventory control, and project completion delays. Consequently, the target of installing 100 utility poles per site within 20 days was not achieved, leading to a decline in project KPI performance. This study aims to determine the optimal distribution warehouse location using the Center of Gravity (COG) and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) methods. The research adopts a descriptive approach with mixed methods. Data were obtained from company documents for cost information and from interviews and discussions to collect distance and distribution volume data, as well as to validate criteria and alternative locations. The COG analysis produced coordinates X = −6.702795806 and Y = 108.5351786; however, this point is located in an alley area and is therefore unsuitable as a warehouse site.
