Abstract

To speak English for most Indonesian students is not an easy matter. Many of them feel shy and lack of confidence. That is why the teachers should use an appropriate strategy to help them improve their speaking ability. This study was a quasi- experiment applying non- randomized control group pre-test post-test design and the subjects of which were the students of Management Class of STIE Perbanas Surabaya. The researcher took two classes of the first semester. They were Class O.2 having 25 students as a control group, and class B.1 having 26 students as an Experimental group. The study has proved that socio affective strategy with Skype is more effective than conventional strategy when used in the teaching speaking and the students who were taught using socio affective strategy with Skype could be more interested to communicate with English language

Abstract

Brainstorming activity is a main factor that can give effect on students’ writing motivation. Teaching English writing by using brainstorming strategy is really important especially to increase students’ motivation. This research is aimed at investigating the effect of brainstorming and its relation to students’ motivation in English writing for the second semester students of Management Major of STIE Perbanas Surabaya, numbering 25 students in academic year 2018-2019. Classroom Action Research (CAR) method was applied in this research. Researcher could investigate and analyze brainstorming process by using this method. Applying brainstorming strategy, the participants (students) were more motivated in terms of writing, which at this time was English writing with a particular topic. Result of this study revealed that brainstorming strategy could improve students’ English Writing skill and their motivation in writing. They could produce good and effective words, and also interesting answers. Based on the fact, brainstorming strategy is suggested for teaching English Writing. Students’ motivation in writing much higher than without brainstorming strategy. Key Words: Brainstorming, Motivation, English Writing

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of traffic driving simulations at Qilpi Al Jihad Kindergarten in Surabaya. The author uses a qualitative descriptive method. The author focuses on applying traffic driving simulations with used media to improve discipline in children from an early age. The author observes 4 times meetings. Each of their meetings plays a different role but with the same content. Media used materials used are available at school and have been adapted to the material being taught. The research subjects were the Qilpi Al Jihad Surabaya Kindergarten which numbered 14 students. All students use media from used materials at each meeting for 30 minutes. The results showed that learning media through varied media used materials will make children more enthusiastic and enthusiastic to learn because it is not boring. However, for children who do not understand the traffic signs and regulations that have been explained by the teacher, they will experience difficulties and confusion. Abstract

Language is used for communication which allows people say things to each other and express their communicative needs. Language learners are aware that to understand the informal form of conversation used by native speakers of English, they need information and guidance to assist them in using the appropriate idioms in a given situation. English songs are one of the media of introducing and reviewing vocabulary, including idiomatic expressions. The purpose of this study is to find out and explain the meaning of idiomatic expressions in Charlie Puth’s song lyrics in album Nine Track Mind 2016. The type of data used in this study was a descriptive quantitative method because to the point out about collects, analysis, describes, identifies the idiomatic expression in Charlie Puth’s album, and to count of idiomatic expression. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the types of metaphors and their meanings in the lyrics of the song Fireflies sung by Owl City. The research method used descriptive (qualitative). Documentation technique was applied to perform data analysis, in this case the text of the fireflies song lyrics as the data source used. The results showed that there were three types of metaphors in the lyrics of the song, including structural metaphors, orientational metaphors, and ontological metaphors. The meaning of the figurative meaning of the fireflies song lyrics was to do everything you like, appreciated the time and the little things around you, because they couldn't be repeated, and things didn't always have to be what we want

Abstract

If there is ambiguity in the title of a fairy tale, the reader will struggle to understand it. This study aims to describe the ambiguity contained in several titles of children's fairy tales. The method used by the researcher is a qualitative method. After collecting and reducing the data, 4 (four) of 28 (twenty eight) fairy tale titles have ambiguity. The researcher analyzed the results and found that out of the 4 (four) titles, the categories of ambiguity were weak and grammatical level ambiguity. Weak ambiguity indicates that the phrase still has a lot of information to explore, while grammatical level ambiguity is when a group of words has different meanings. If the title is interpreted more than one meaning, it will cause confusion for the reader because it is not a universal meaning. Reading fairy tales has become a hobby for some children, especially if the fairy tale has an interesting title and is easy to understand. Keywords: fairy tale, Semantic, Ambiguity

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to show that there are various methods of learning English in early childhood using flashcard media. Not only it can add new vocabulary but also it can improve speaking and listening skills. According to Sandra Fox, apart from generally adding vocabulary, here are some interesting methods of using flashcards, namely Cahin Mini-Dialogue, Guessing Mimes, Guessing Mimes behind Back, TPR, Describing Activities, and Exchanging Information. Some of the methods of using the flashcards mentioned above are very interesting, they make students (early childhood) enjoy learning English. Keywords: flashcard, learning method, English

Abstract

MENINGKATKAN KONSENTRASI BELAJAR ANAK DENGAN METODE BERCERITA DI TK AL – IMANImproving listening skills in early childhood (5-6 years old) using a read aloud method at TK Wachid Hasyim 2 Surabaya. The observation occured during learning activities in a story tellig. It seems that when the teacher reads a story, the exprssion, intonation, and the body langauge is not delibeately shown. It cause the children attention to the story is not maximum. The childrn lose the focus and interest to the story. Out of 15 students, only 11 who are able to retell the story that has been rad. On the inteview session, it is found that the teacher had not made efforts to increase the skill of students’ listening skill. In addition, the teacher has not developed learning methods to deliver the story. Researchers used the qualitative method of PTK (Penelitian Tindak Kelas). The PTK model that researchers used in this study was spiral method from the Kemmis Researcher Model (1988). In the book PTK (Rochiati Wiriaatmadja, 2008 : 66) From the first cycle, and II is carried out with the planning stage (plan), action (act), observation (observer) and reflection (reflection). The results of the class research that it can be concluded that improving the listening skills using the read aloud method for early years student (5-6 years) at TK Wachid Hasyim 2 is giving a good impaact. This me`thod can be also use as a` reference for other grades. Keywords: learning method, read aloud, listening skills

Abstract

The goal of this study was to assess the level of digital literacy proficiency among parents of PAUD students in the Ngawi Regency. The research was conducted using a mixed-methods approach and benchmarked against prior studies of a similar nature on parental digital literacy and online learning at the PAUD level under the new normal. The study's findings included data from 30 PAUD who participated as respondents and represented 30 subdistricts in the Ngawi Regency. Based on the survey's findings, it is known that the majority of PAUD-level online learning processes still use message-based communication via SMS or Whatsapp media instead of digital learning platforms. Numerous PAUD schools have attempted to teach using digital platforms like Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Team, but their efforts have been limited by students' low levels of computer proficiency and parents' limited availability. This demonstrates that despite the fact that practically all parents are accustomed to utilizing mobile devices and other digital communication tools for communication, they do not know how to utilize them for learning. According to the study's findings, in order to support the success of learning programs and activities, particularly those conducted online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, policies and guidelines for digital literacy must concentrate on improving parents' knowledge of and capacity for access to digital learning systems. Abstract

Meningkatkan perkembangan motorik halus Anak Usia Dini melalui media kolase kertas Origami kertas lipat) kelompok B di TK Istiqbal ajaran 2022-2023. Skripsi keguruan dan ilmu pendidikan Universitas Narotama 2023. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan perkembangan motorik halus anak melalui kegiatan kolase kertas lipat kelompok B di TK Istiqbal tahun ajaran 2022-2023 Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) subjek penelitian ini adalah guru dan peserta didik kelompok B yang berjumlah 17 peserta didik di TK Istiqbal. Penelitian ini bersifat kolaboratif antara peneliti, guru dan kepala sekolah, teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan hasil observasi dan dokumentasi penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dilakukan dalam 2 siklus masing-masing siklus di laksanakan 3 kali pertemuan.
