Abstract

Single-tier city logistics system consists of three entities which are suppliers, UCCs (urban consolidation centers), and retailers. This paper develops a model for single-tier city logistics system with multi products that has never been developed before. This paper also considers traffic congestion in the model so it more represents the real system in a city. Demands of the products follow a normal distribution. The problems that will be answered in this paper are how to determine the location of suppliers, to allocate retailers to opened UCCs, to assign suppliers to opened UCCs, to control inventory in the three entities involved, and to determine the route of the vehicles from opened UCCs to retailers. All the decisions will be simultaneously optimized. The model is solved using LINGO 12. Three numerical examples with different values of parameters are conducted to test the proposed model. All numerical examples show that the proposed model results logical solution.

Abstract

Abstract By following WHO guidelines, the minimum blood availability is 2% of the population. The total population of Indonesia in 2016 is 261.115.456, so ideally it takes 5.222.309 blood bags. In 2013-2015 for 36 months, there were 26 overstock events and 10 stockout events. The data shows that the frequency of over-supply is more frequent than over-demand. The high overstock has an impact on the high costs incurred by the City of Bandung PMI, if there is overstock there are two costs to be incurred, namely the cost of storing if the blood is still in good use and the cost of overstock if the blood is more than the expiration date. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimal value of inventory levels to reduce wastage of blood culling due to overstock occurring at PMI Bandung. The research method uses a quantitative approach to the optimization model of inventory policy, namely Uncertainty EOQ. The optimal amount of supplies that must be provided is at intervals of 8,705 - 9,375 blood bags with a large safety stock 403 blood bags and the ordering point is at the level of supplies of 5.706 blood bags. This proposal can provide a total inventory cost savings of Rp6.622.659.034/year.

Abstract

Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) is one of collaboration strategy in the supply chain to optimize the availability of goods with minimal costs for both collaborating parties. PT XYZ as buyer company has adopted the VMI concept in providing fuel oil and has benefited from assured availability. To obtain more benefits, the company needs to expand the scope of VMI implementation to provide the other goods needed by the company. The absence of tools to assess the readiness to implement VMI for a product has become one of the obstacles to its implementation for other types of goods. Previous research has developed a readiness assessment model for a company to implement VMI. However, this assessment model is not comprehensive as it only evaluate readiness from the perspective of one party. In addition, what products can be managed with the VMI system in a company has not been answered. These two things are research gaps for developing a model for assessing the readiness of implementing VMI for a product for buyer company and supplier. To address these gaps, this research designs an assessment model for the readiness of VMI implementation by developing a reference model through PLS-SEM analysis and confirmatory factor analysis approach. This research produced two VMI readiness assessment instruments, one intended for buyer company consisting of 2 dimensions, 8 elements and 21 indicators and the other for supplier consisting of 2 dimensions, 7 elements and 15 indicators. The results of testing assessment instruments on three products used by the company indicate that the proposed instruments from this research can be used to determine the readiness of VMI implementation within the company.

Abstract

The port is one of the freight transportation activities of business locations through the surrounding water area. The approach to port business characteristics can be approached with maritime logistics. Maritime logistics presents an integrated concept of planning, implementing, and managing the movement of goods and information in sea transportation. The three key players that make up the maritime logistics system at a port are shipping, port/terminal operations, and freight forwarding. This article examines several major ports: Shanghai, Singapore, Busan, and Rotterdam, for comparison based on the characteristics of the port business side. Comparative studies are carried out with a benchmarking process against reference ports.

Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this research is Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) collaborating in the supply chain. Suppliers are responsible for the availability of customer goods. VMI developed in the retail industry, the VMI concept has been used in the logistics industry. The successful application of the VMI concept has become an interesting research topic for academics and practitioners. This research develops a conceptual framework for evaluating the suitability of implementing VMI for a product in a specific company. Method through systematic literature review. The result of the research is a framework for the suitability of VMI implementation. The three dimensions of the product-related framework consist of 12 elements and 39 indicators that can be used for further research.
