Abstract

Background: Patient satisfaction was one of the indicators of hospital service quality. Service excellent concept in hospital aimed to fulfill the patient expectation of hospital services. One of the factors which affect service excellent is leadership style. Objective:This research aimed to analyzed the relationship of transformational leadership style of the inpatient room head and service excellent practice of nurses in inpatient unit of Telogorejo Hospital. Method: This was observational research with cross sectional approach. Data collected using questionnaires. Sample was chosen with random sampling method and divided proportionally for each inpatient room as much as 184 respondents. Results: Research showed that idealized influence (p-value: 0,029), inspirational motivation (p-value: 0,037), intellectual stimulation (p-value: 0,018), individual consideration (p-value: 0,049) dimension from transformational leadership had significant relationship with service excellent practice of nurses in inpatient unit in Telogorejo Semarang Hospital. Conclusion: There were significant relationship between idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation individual consideration of inpatient room head and service excellent of nurses in inpatient unit.Keywords: Transformational leadership, service excellent, nurse, hospital, patient expectation

Abstract

Early Warning System (EWS) is an information system on patient care that needed to support decision making of patient’s clinical change. The impact of EWS usage on patient’s clinical change still varies therefore a question raised whether EWS usage will improve hospital service quality. The lack of information on factors related to EWS usage effectivity became the reason to conduct this study. The study aimed to understand the factors that relates to EWS usage. The study was a cross sectional approach. Population in the study was 297 EWS healthcare users in X Hospital. Sample taken in the study was 168 healthcare users with proportionate stratified random sampling method. EWS usage data were collected from medical records audit. Factors related to EWS usage data was taken from questionnaire. Relationship between factors and EWS usage were analyzed by using Chi square test and logistic regression test. Proper EWS usage on patient’s clinical change in X Hospital general ward was very low. System quality, user satisfaction and organization structure independently were significant related to EWS usage. Organization structure and user satisfaction have an impact as 12.374 times and 4.671 times to the use of EWS system.Keywords: EWS; General ward; Service qualitiy

Abstract

Background: Pregnancy had an impact on oral health that cause pregnant women susceptible to dental caries and periodontal disease. Poor oral health conditions of pregnant women could had an impact on the mother herself and also the fetus.Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the utilization of oral health services among pregnant women in Semarang city, and the factors that associated with it. Method: This study was an analytic observational with case controlled design using a questionnaire involving 96 pregnant women. The questions including respondent characteristics, knowledge, perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, cues to action and self-efficacy regarding the used of oral health services. Results: The results showed that more than half of respondents (54.2%) already used oral health services during pregnancy. The variables which together had an effect on the utilization of oral health services are knowledge (p value=0.000, OR=17.343) perceived severity (p value=0.001, OR=10.416) and cues to action (p value=0.007, OR=7.403). Conclusion: This studied concluded that the knowledge, perceived severity and cues to action affect significantly affect to utilization of oral health services among pregnant women.Keywords: Pregnant women, dental health, utilization
