Abstract

This study investigated the biodegradation of 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis (4-chlorophenyl) ethane (DDT) by mixed cultures white-rot fungus Ganoderma lingzhi BMC 9057 and bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Cultures bacteria P. aeruginosa with various volumes 1, 3, 5, 7, and 10 ml (1 ml ≈ 1.53 x 109 bacteria cells/ml cultures) was added into 10 ml G. lingzhi cultures for degrading DDT. After 7 d incubation, DDT was degraded about 100% with addition of 5, 7, and 10 ml of P. aeruginosa culture into G. lingzhi. Two metabolites; 1,1-dichloro-2,2-bis (4-chlorophenyl) ethane (DDD) and 1-chloro,2-2-bis (4-chlorophenyl) ethylene (DDMU) were detected from mixed cultures G. lingzhi and P. aeruginosa as metabolite products of DDT. This research indicated that mixed cultures of whiterot fungus G. lingzhi and P. aeruginosa could be used to degrade DDT.

Abstract

The development of new antibiotics is an urgent need amidst the reported increase in bacterial resistance. The n-hexane extracts of Moringa oleifera seeds have been known to have antibacterial effects against E.coli and S.aureus. However, the mechanism of inhibition and the protein from these bacteria targeted by the chemical compounds from n-hexane extracts of Moringa seeds remains elusive. ATP synthase subunit c (ATPase c) plays an important role in the synthesis and hydrolysis of ATP providing energy for bacterial growth. It is an attractive for the new antibiotic development. This study aims to computationally study the interaction between the chemical compound from n-hexane extract of Moringa seeds and ATPase c from E. coli and S. aureus that may shed the light on their inhibitory potentials using molecular docking method. The compound trans-9-octadecenoic acid shows the highest affinity energy with ATPase c from E. coli (-4.1 kcal/mol). Meanwhile, 9-cis-octadecanoic acid and glycerol-1,3-dioctadecanote show the highest interaction (-4.3 kcal/mol) with ATPase c from S.aureus. Nonetheless, these interaction energies are lower than a positive control Tomatidine on ATPase c E.coli (-6.9 kcal/mol) and S. aureus (-6.2 kcal/mol). Further in vitro assays are needed to validate their potential as novel antibacterial candidates.

Abstract

Avocados (Persea americana Mill.) have many benefits for traditional medicine especially in East Nusa Tenggara. The purpose of this study was to analyze the secondary metabolite compounds contained in avocado seeds and to identify groups compounds in avocado seeds extract. The research method used was maceration of samples for 3 days and continued with phytochemical dan FT-IR test. The result showed that methanol extract of avocado seeds contains phytochemicals based on test result of secondary metabolites, the alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, terpenoids, saponins and tannins. While the results of FT-IR analysis showed the presences of OH, CH, C=C, and C-O groups.

Abstract

This community service was carried out on two topiks, there are a simple chemical practicum and the socialization of the risk of Plastik waste in Soe City, East Nusa Tenggara Province. This activity aims to increase the people's understanding of the chemical science which is considered dangerous for the organism. The mistake in understanding of chemical concept causes the chemistry science is to difficult to study, even though chemistry has comprehensive  benefits in life, such as in agriculture for fertilizer production, in pharmacy to synthesis the medicine, for culinary to nutrient content estimated, in the livestock sector to make vaccines, in the marine sector to manage the marine product and for environment to overcome the environmental pollution due to the waste. This activity was initiated by the students and lecturers in the Chemical Education Study Program, of Widya Mandira Catholic University with the target being Junior High School students in the Soe city. Simple practicum is done using natural materials around in order to create an easy chemistry lesson. In addition to practicum activities, there are also has a socialization activities about the risk  of Plastik waste, because Plastik waste is an environment problem in the future.

Abstract

The increasing of Covid-19 spread is certainly a challenge for the community in incounter of COVID-19 pandemic. The implementation of health protocols and public understanding about COVID-19 must to be improved. One form of health protocol is the hand sanitizers utillization. Hand sanitizer can be bought at by various prices. The availability of natural abundance is the basis reason for innovations to be produce the hand sanitizers. Educational activities for the hand sanitizers produce made from betel leaf and aloe vera in the Liliba sub-district, of Kupang city using the video and YouTube as well as socialization to the community aims to provide information for the community to utiliize the natural ingredients to create the hand sanitizers. This is carried out to support the implementation of health protocols. The selection of video tutorial media is because the community can be widely access. In addition the other activities socializing about the hand sanitizers produce and distributing the home made hand sanitizer products. The socialization involved the Liliba sub-district Covid-19 team. The hand sanitizers that have been produced by practical students of chemistry educational study program of Widya Mandira University are then distributed to the audience of the socialization. The hand sanitizer production brochure distributed to the public as a simple way of academics contributing ideas to help the community on COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

COVID-19 merupakan penyakit yang sedanf mewabah di dunia termasuk di Indonesia. Adanya pandemic ini menyebabkan kegiatan di semua sector terganggu, sehingga upaya pencegahan penyebaran virus ini mutlah dilakukan. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan pemahaman pengetahuan tentang COVID-19 dan pemanfaatan tanaman herbal sebagai ramuan untuk meningkatkan imunitas tubuh. Sasaran utama dari kegiatan ini adalah masyarakat Kelurahan Liliba Kecamatan Oebobo-Nusa Tenggara Timur, dengan metode sosialisasi dan edukasi. Tahapan pelaksanaan kegiatan berupa tahapan persiapan dan pelaksanaan. Pada tahap persiapan TIM KKN melakukan audiensi dengan pemerintah setempat dan studi literatur. Pada tahap pelaksanaan dilakukan sosialisasi mengenai COVID-19 dan potensi tanaman herbal untuk meningkatkan imunitas tubuh serta cara pembuatannya. Hasil dari kegiatan ini dapat adalah masyarakat mendapatkan pengetahuan tambahan tentang COVID-19 serta potensi tanaman herbal yang ada disekitar dalam meningkatkan imunitas tubuh.

Abstract

Media pembelajaran adalah segala sesuatu yang dapat digunakan untuk menyampaikan pesan atau informasi dalam proses belajar mengajar sehingga dapat merangsang perhatian dan minat siswa dalam belajar. Video pembelajaran adalah media untuk mentransfer pengetahuan dan dapat digunakan sebagai bagian dari proses belajar.tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) Untuk mengetahui kelayakan video pembelajaran pada materi sistem koloid kelas Xl IPA 3 SMA Negeri 2 Kupang tahun ajaran 2020/2021. (2) Untuk mengetahui hasil belajar siswa melalui penggunaan media video pembelajaran pada materi sistem koloid kelas Xl IPA 3 SMA Negeri 2 Kupang tahun ajaran 2020/2021. Metode Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Lokasi penelitian ini adalah SMA Negeri 1 Kupang Tahun ajaran 2020/2021.sampel penelitian ini adalah kelas X1 IPA 3. Teknik pengambilan data yang menggunakan Tes.Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah Analisis Validitas Media Video Pembelajaran, Analisis Test Hasil Belajar. sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa (1) hasil validasi media video pembelajaran yang dilakukan oleh dua validator dinyatakan layak/valid dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 84,71% dan hasil validasi media video pembelajaran yang dilakukan oleh dua validator dinyatakan layak/valid dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 84.89%. (2) hasil belajar siswa dinyatakan tuntas dengan perolehan nilai rata-rata sebesar 90,31.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Badan Usaha Milik Desa (BUMDes) dikategorikan menjadi usaha desa yang berpotensial untuk dikembangkan menjadi penggerak ekonomi desa. Sosialisasi cara menyusun proposal usaha pada kegiatan pelatihan bagi BUMDes dalam rangka kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat berniat untuk menambah pengetahuan dan keterampilan penyusunan proposal usaha. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di Kecamatan Kupang barat pada dua desa yaitu Desa Tablolong dan Desa Oenaek, pesertanya terdiri dari pengurus Badan Usaha Milik Desa (BUMDes), pemerintah desa, Badan Pengawas Desa, tokoh masyarakat, Unit Mikro Kecil Menengah (UMKM), dan kelompok anak muda berjumlah 20 orang. Metode yang digunakan adalah penyampaian materi berupa ceramah, diskusi dan simulasi. Kesimpulan dari hasil kegiatan menunjukkan kegiatan sosialisasi mendorong pengurus BUMDes dan menambah pengetahuan serta keterampilan menyusun proposal usaha. Kegiatan ini kedepannya dapat  dilanjutkan dengan pelatihan dan bimbingan teknis dalam penyusunan proposal usaha Kata Kunci: Pelatihan Proposal Usaha, Sosialisasi, Sencana Bisnis                  ABSTRACT Village Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) is categorized as a village business that has the potential to be developed as a driving force for the village economy. Training on how to prepare business proposals in training activities for BUMDes in the context of community service activities intends to increase knowledge and skills in preparing business proposals. The activity was carried out in West Kupang District in two villages, namely Tablolong Village and Oenaek Village. The participants consisted of BUMDes management, village government, Village Supervisory Board, community leaders, Micro Small Medium Unit (MSMEs), and a group of 20 young people. The method used is the delivery of material in the form of lectures, discussions, and simulations. The results of the activity show that socialization activities encourage BUMDes management and increase their knowledge and skills in preparing business proposals. This activity can be continued in the future with training and technical guidance in the preparation of business proposals. Keywords: Business Proposal Training, Socialization, Business Plan

Abstract

Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dan asosiatif. Dalam penelitian ini dihasilkan media video pembelajaran pada materi laju reaksi dan tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan validitas media video pembelajaran yang dirancang pada materi laju reaksi, hasil belajar siswa pada materi laju reaksi yang menggunakan media video pembelajaran. Dari analisis data diperoleh (1) presentasi tingkat validasi oleh validator ahli materi secara keseluruhan sebesar 88,75% dan presentasi tingkat validasi oleh validator ahli media secara keseluruhan sebesar 82,95% dinyatakan media sangat layak digunakan. (2) Ketuntasan hasil belajar pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang diperoleh siswa sebesar 84,88 dan dinyatakan tuntas.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh ilmu kimia yang bersifat abstrak sehingga banyak peserta didik menganggap bahwa ilmu kimia sulit untuk dipelajari. Fakta tersebut ditemukan pada peserta didik kelas X MIPA SMA Santo Arnoldus Janssen Kupang dimana hasil belajar peserta didik menunjukkan bahwa peserta didik sulit mengerti materi kimia. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah agar lewat pemanfaatan media kartu ion dapat membantu meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif asosiatif. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMA Santo Arnoldus Janssen Kupang pada tanggal 28 Maret 2022 terhadap 18 orang peserta didik. Analisis data menggunakan validasi media kartu ion yang dinyatakan sangat valid, lembar observasi keterlaksanaan RPP dengan nilai reliabilitas 0,96 dengan kategori baik, respon peserta didik terhadap pemanfaatan media kartu ion dengan rata-rata 83,05 kategori sangat baik, tes hasil belajar dengan rata-rata sebesar 82,27 dengan kategori tuntas dan adanya pengaruh antara respon terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik dimana Fhitung ≥ Ftabel yakni 20,111≥4,49.
