Abstract

Sebuah gerakan tidak bisa dipisahkan dari sebuah konstruk konseptual yang melatarbelakanginya. Baik berupa ideologi politik, mazhab agama maupun kecendrungan budaya. Salah satu gerakan masif saat ini adalah gerakan arabisme. Gerakan arabisme merupakan gerakan transnasional yang merebak di seluruh penjuru dunia. Dengan segala pro-kontra gerakan ini menjadi momok khususnya dalam dunia Islam. Berkaitan dengan hal itu terdapat satu tokoh yang selalu dikait-kaitkan dengan gerakan Arabisme; Ibn Taimiyyah. Namun, jika dilihat dalam kronologi sejarah Ibn Taimiyyah tumbuh pada masa kekhalifahan Abbasiyah yang belum mengenal ‘nasionalisme Arab’. Tulisan ini akan menyajikan data-data hasil penafsiran Ibn Taimiyyah yang mengkorelasikan kedua hal tersebut, yaitu: Arabisme dan Ibn Taimiyyah dengan metode analisis konten. Tulisan ini juga mendiskusikan bagaimana konstruk konseptual etnosentrisme Ibn Taimiyyah tersebut dipakai dalam gerakan arabisme khususnya di Indonesia.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkonfirmasi adanya penyimpangan komunikasi di era digital dalam masyarakat muslim. Ketiadaan etika digital yang menjadi pedoman dalam komunikasi membuat masyarakat muslim kontemporer jauh dari praktek dan cara pandang Islam yang seharusnya. Penyebaran informasi melalui media digital dan teknologi dengan cepat menyebar tanpa arah dan batasan. Facebook adalah salah satu pilihan paling populer dalam distribusi informasi dan disinformasi. Artikel ini mengobservasi perilaku komunikasi digital masyarakat muslim di desa Pasir Mayang serta perubahan etika komunikasi masyarakat muslim Desa Pasir Mayang dalam komunikasi mereka di facebook. Perilaku tersebut akan dilihat dari perspektif filsafat etis yang Islami. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan menganalisis data yang didapat melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi terhadap masyarakat Desa Pasir Mayang yang berusia 20 sampai 35 tahun yang menggunakan facebook kurang lebih 123 orang. Artikel ini menyimpulkan bahwa: 1) terjadi perubahan etika komunikasi masyarakat muslim sebelum dan sesudah kehadiran media sosial facebook. 2) Penyimpangan etika komunikasi masyarakat muslim mayoritas berupa penyimpangan norma verbal, penyebaran aib, dan komunikasi yang kasar. Walaupun masih ditemukan beberapa orang yang tetap memegang norma dan etika dalam komunikasi melalui facebook, namun trend tersebut terus menurun di kalangan generasi muda masyarakat muslim.

Abstract

The understanding of knowledge in the Islamic literature is more focus on the conception of knowledge itself, such as the epistemology of ma'rifah al-Ghazali, the epistemology of Islamic science Syed Nuqaib al-Attas, and the epistemology of the Qur’an Fazlur Rahman. This article is different from the previous concept that looks at knowledge from its antonym, Ignorance (Jahiliyyah). Ignorance is the important topic of socio-religious in the Qur’an which creates new understanding in Islamic epistemological construction. This article argues that in the Qur’an antonimical perspective, Ignorance is the antonym of the word "Islam". Here, Islam has not only seen as a religious institution. Islam is the knowledge itself which full of goodness and good perspective. While Ignorance is the absence of knowledge which at the same time as a source of everything contrary to Islam as knowledge. This statement would affect the epistemological construction of science as a whole and creates a new concept in seeing Islam and everything related to it. This article analyzes the verses of the Moses story in the Qur’an through what author call the antonymy interpretation method. It mean, interpreting the Qur’an about the knowledge through the antonym of the knowledge itself, that is nescience, ignorance and idiocy. The results of this study do not emplace the ulama as guardians of religious authority as understood today, but the ulama are groups of people who have capabilities in the structuring of Islam as knowledge.Pemahaman pengetahuan dalam khazanah Islam lebih menitikberatkan pada konsepsi pengetahuan itu sendiri, seperti epistemologi ma’rifah al-Ghazali, epistemologi keilmuan Islam Syed Nuqaib al-Attas, dan epistemologi al-Qur’an Fazlur Rahman. Berbeda dari sebelumnya, artikel ini melihat pengetahuan dari antonimnya yaitu Ignorance (Jahiliyyah). Ignorance merupakan topic sosio-religi penting dalam the al-Qur’an yang melahirkan pemahaman baru dalam bangunan epistemologi Islam. Artikel ini berargumen bahwa dalam perspektif antonimimitas al-Qur’an, Ignorance adalah antonym dari kata Islam. Di sini, Islam tidak hanya dipandang sebagai institusi agama. Islam adalah pengetahuan itu sendiri yang penuh kebaikan dan cara pandang yang baik. Sebaliknya, Ignorance merupakan ketiadaan pengetahuan yang di saat yang sama merupakan sumber dari segala perilaku yang bertentangan dengan Islam pengetahuan. Pernyataan ini akan mempengaruhi bangunan epistemologi ilmu secara keseluruhan dan melahirkan konsep baru dalam melihat Islam dan segala yang berhubungan dengannya. Artikel ini menganalisis ayat-ayat kisah Musa melalui sebuah metode penafsiran lawan kata atau yang penulis sebut sebagai metode penafsiran antonimi. Artinya, menafsirkan al-Qur’an mengenai pengetahuan melalui lawan kata dari pengetahuan itu, yaitu ketidaktahuan, ignoran dan kebodohan. Hasil penelitian ini tidak menempatkan ulama sebagai penjaga otoritas agama sebagaimana yang dipahami saat ini, tetapi ulama adalah kelompok masyarakat yang punya kapabilitas dalam strukturalisasi Islam sebagai pengetahuan.

Abstract

This study highlights the different Qur'an-Hadith visions regarding Islamic heroism in the Muslim community, especially in Indonesia. The lack of attention of Islamic scholars to the concept of heroism was significant, emphasized by analyzing the heroism of Muhammad al-Fatih in Indonesian Islamic comics, using the socio-heroism theory of Kristian Frisk. Critical discourse analysis reviews the relation of the Qur'an-Hadith visions in the Muhammad al-Fatih comic with the social discourse of heroism in Indonesia. Furthermore, this study concludes that Islamic heroism is recognized based on two aspects, namely the transcendental recognition from the information of the Qur'an-Hadith vision and the inherent recognition from the Muslim community. It also discovered that Islamic comics in Indonesia introduce the heroism of Muhammad al-Fatih due to several factors and objectives. First is the long-standing relationship with the Turkish community. Second, the Islamic heroism in Muhammad al-Fatih's actions is considered a sign of Islamic glories and brilliance. Third, his victory is considered by some groups as an example and a positive role model for Muslims from various aspects. Therefore, this research will significantly contribute to the knowledge of future Islamic scholars about Islamic heroism, the Quran-Hadith vision, and the study of religious comics, especially in Indonesia.

Abstract

The presence of COVID-19 has changed the religious information of Islamic organizations in Indonesia. To a certain extent, religious organizations play an essential role in handling outbreaks regarding their strategic position as opinion leaders for society. This study seeks to examine the religious discourse changes of Nadhlatul Ulama (NU) and Muhammadiyah in responding to the pandemic as portrayed on their official websites. This study uses a qualitative method with a critical discourse analysis approach from van Dijk (2001), in which language is analyzed by describing the aspects of language (texts) and relating to the context and social cognition. The study concludes that the state/government's power relation dominates NU and Muhammadiyah's discourses. Nahdatul Ulama (NU) tends to show the theological-normative things based on culture, while Muhammadiyah discusses religious narratives based on charity and transformative actions. However, both of them are developing contextual fiqh and disaster fiqh facing the COVID-19 pandemic based on the Quran-Hadis direction.

Artikel ini menganalisis ayat-ayat kisah Musa melalui sebuah metode penafsiran lawan kata atau yang penulis sebut sebagai metode penafsiran antonimi. Artinya, menafsirkan al-Qur’an mengenai pengetahuan melalui lawan kata dari pengetahuan itu, yaitu ketidaktahuan, ignoran dan kebodohan. Hasil penelitian ini tidak menempatkan ulama sebagai penjaga otoritas agama sebagaimana yang dipahami saat ini, tetapi ulama adalah kelompok masyarakat yang punya kapabilitas dalam strukturalisasi Islam sebagai pengetahuan.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study analyzes the manuscripts of Piagam Kerinci (Sultan Kerinci charter) and letter stored in the collection of National Library of the Republic of Indonesia. The purposes of this study are (1) to describe the contents of the charter and letters, (2) to explain the development of Islam in Kerinci as reflected on the content of the manuscript, and (3) to reveal the message contained in the manuscript. This study uses a philological approach through historical writing analysis. Several concepts and theories are used as a tool to analyze the historical phenomena studied. The data collected are the Piagam Kerinci manuscripts and letters (three manuscripts) with the code ML 396 D. The study found that the Kerinci Charter, both Charter A, B, and C contain orders to obey Allah and to embrace Islam. In addition, there is an order for the people of Kerinci to establish Islamic syarak (sharia) and leave unruly behaviors in Islam such as: cock fighting, stealing, alcohols, tree/stone worshipping (as of animistic beliefs and practices). The presence of orders in these manuscripts suggests that there was an ideological transformation from animist to Islam belief in the Kerinci community. Keywords: Ideological Transformation, Animism, Islam, Kerinci Charter.    ABSTRAK Penelitian ini berfokus pada teks naskah piagam dan surat Sultan Kerinci yang terdapat di Perpustakaan Nasional Republik Indonesia, dengan memaparkan suntingan teks. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) men­des­kripsikan isi piagam dan surat-surat sultan Kerinci, (2) menjelaskan perkembangan Islam di Kerinci sehingga perkembangan khazanah inte­lektual religius di sana dapat terlihat dengan jelas berdasarkan isi teks, dan (3) mengungkapkan pesan moral yang terdapat dalam teks. Penelitian ini menggu­na­kan metode pendekatan filologi melalui penulisan sejarah ana­lisis. Beberapa konsep dan teori digunakan sebagai alat untuk menganalisis t fenomena historis yang dikaji. Data yang dikumpul­kan adalah manuskrip piagam dan surat-surat Kerinci yang tersimpan di perpustakaan Nasional Republik Indonesia sebanyak tiga lembar naskah dengan kode ML 396 D. Penelitian telah menunjukkan bahwa Piagam Kerinci, baik piagam A, B, dan C memuat perintah untuk taat kepada Allah  dan untuk masuk ke dalam agama Islam. Selain itu terdapat juga perintah kepada masyarakat Kerinci untuk mendirikan syarak (syariah) agama Islam dan meninggalkan hal-hal yang dilarang dalam Islam seperti menyabung ayam, mencuri, minum minuman keras, menyembah pohon atau batu besar yang meru­pakan bentuk kepercayaan animisme. Adanya perintah dalam naskah me­nunjukkan adanya transformasi ideologi dari kepercayaan animisme kepada agama Islam pada masyarakat Kerinci.  Kata Kunci: Transformasi Ideologi, Animisme, Islam, Piagam Kerinci

Abstract

Urban Muslims are one of the unique communities in society. This can be seen from the symbolization of urban Muslims that is different from traditional Muslim societies, in Islamic films. Urban characteristics in Indonesia's populist culture show the dialectic of urban Muslim life in the face of a socio-religious context. Urban Muslims are required to actualize themselves in complex urban life with social class conflicts, social deviations, and cultural orientations. This article aims to identify the symbols of urban Muslims in film when God falls in love using interpretive symbol analysis using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. This article concludes that the symbolization of urban Muslims in populist culture Islamic film is concentrated on three things: 1) visual communication 2) narrative 3) storyline contextualization. Urban Muslims have unique symbol characteristics 1) religious tolerance 2) anti-establishment 3) self-actualization 4) self-satisfaction oriented.

Abstract

Religious theological views alter continuously with the context and dynamics of social change. The emergence of digital media and the flow of information has caused a change in the theological views on religious truths and their validation ways. Therefore, this research aimed to explore the theological views and practices of converts in Indonesia who are committed to disseminating validated the Qur'an-Bible relationship in social media as a consequence of their Islamic beliefs. The influence of context and social dynamics on religious theological views was explored by obtaining data through media observations and in-depth interviews with three popular converts on social media, namely Ahmad Kainama, drg. Carissa Grani, and Teressia Pardede. Subsequently, this research concluded that converts to religious theology in Indonesia focus on three basic views, 1) Converts considered Islam as a universal religion and the faith of all prophets and apostles, as Jesus, Moses, and all the bearers of religion in the world are Muslims, 2) Convert judges a historical distortion about Islam and Christianity, 3) Convert claims there is a misinterpretation in understanding Islam and Christianity. This also provided an overview of the impacts that arise due to theological validation in social-religious life by Indonesian converts on social media. This information is expected to contribute to future research as a theoretical-empirical-phenomenological basis about converts and their theological views on social media for the development of relevant investigations.

Abstract

Studies  on  Islam  in  Nusantara  are  primarily  related  to  Islam's transmission  to  Nusantara.  Meanwhile,  the  role  of  vernacularization (localizing)  of  Islamic  sciences  by  Nusantara  scholars  -  including attention  to  vernacularization  of  interpretive  science  -  gained  less attention. This paper employs the vernacular concept from A.H. Johns, discussing  the  role  of  Jawi  Tafsir  in  the  Islamization  of  Nusantara  in the  early  phases  of  both  the  formulation  of  Islamic  Nusantara  Islam and  the  socio-cultural  transformation  of  Nusantara.  The  conceptual frameworks  are  related  to  enculturation,  adoption,  and  cultural adaptation,  in  which  vernacularization  occurs  in  each  of  these processes.  Through  studies  on  the  Jawi's  vernacular  interpretation (Tarjumān  al-Mustafīd),  this  paper  argues  that  in  the  early  scientific formulation of the Nusantara Islam that transformed the socio-cultural Nusantara,  Tarjumān  al-Mustafīd  played  a  significant  role.  With another  Jawi  commentaries,  Tarjumān  al-Mustafīd  then  became  the Nusantara's Islamic identity and proof of Islam with the archipelago's character.
