Abstract

The weak and less rigid profile of the shelf support elbow on the supporting wall with dimensions of the two elbows 15 cm long, 3.5 cm wide, 0.5 mm thick from low carbon steel is the problem faced. The purpose of fabrication is to obtain a shelf support elbow profile with dimensions of the two elbows 15 cm long, 3.5 cm wide, 0.5 mm thick from low carbon steel that is strong and stiff enough. The manufacturing method includes: design of the shelf support elbow profile, selection of 0.5 mm thick plate from low carbon steel, precision cutting (shearing) measuring 30 cm long, 3.5 cm wide, bending at a 90o angle with a V-die press brake machine, forming a 3 mm radius reinforcing groove for the 90o angle, drilling 6 holes with a diameter of 3.5 mm, finishing and painting, and quality and dimension inspection. The fabrication results are in the form of a shelf support angle profile on a supporting wall with dimensions of 15 cm in length for both angles, 3.5 cm in width, 0.5 mm in thickness from low carbon steel that can withstand a load of 2 kg, a total production cost of IDR 14,000/unit, a production process duration of 1.5 minutes/unit which implies that the shelf support angle profile is able to withstand vertical loads with 3 steel screws with a diameter of 3 mm x 35 mm.

Abstract

Damage to door panels caused by drilling, nailing, or screwing clothes hangers onto doors, as well as the insufficient strength of conventional hangers, remains a common problem in residential and public facilities. This production project aimed to develop a durable S-shaped 90° clothes hanger made of aluminum that can be attached directly to the edge of a door with a thickness of 38 mm without causing structural damage. The production method consisted of several stages, including designing the S-shaped 90° hanger, cutting an aluminum plate measuring 210 × 20 × 3 mm, forming semicircular ends using a press tool to reduce the plate length from 21 cm to 20 cm, filing sharp edges, marking bending lines at distances of 3 cm and 7 cm from both ends of the plate in opposite directions, bending the ends according to the markings, and applying paint or anodizing finishes based on customer preferences. The final stage involved quality and dimensional inspections to ensure product conformity. The resulting product was an aluminum S-shaped 90° clothes hanger capable of being securely hung on the upper edge of a 38 mm thick door. The production cost was approximately IDR 12,000 per unit, with an average manufacturing time of 10 minutes per unit. The hanger was capable of supporting loads of up to 7 kg and could be easily installed, removed, and relocated without damaging the door surface.

Abstract

The weak strength of the U-bar clamp material for the piping system grip is a problem faced. The manufacturing objective is to obtain a U-bar clamp from ASTM A36 steel, 15 cm long for a 1.5” pipe support with M10 bolt threads. The manufacturing method includes: design of a 15 cm long U-bar clamp for a 1.5” pipe with M10 bolt threads, selection of ASTM A36 steel material, cutting 10 mm diameter steel steel to 15 cm long, making M10 bolt threads at both ends for 20 mm, bending the steel U-bar clamp with a distance between the axes of 48 mm, making a clamp plate measuring 75x24x2 mm in length with 2 holes of 11 mm in diameter, coating the U-clamp and clamp plate by immersing it in molten Zinc at 500oC for 1 minute, installing 2 M10 nuts, and checking the quality and dimensions. The manufacturing results are in the form of ASTM A36 steel bar U-clamps, 15 cm long for 1.5” pipes with M10 bolt threads 20 mm long, total production costs of IDR 11,000/unit, and a process duration of 12 minutes/unit which implies that the steel bar U-clamps are strong enough to support water-filled pipes with an installation distance of every 1 m and are rust-resistant with galvanizing.

Abstract

Limited storage space for clothes in modern residences, such as boarding houses and apartments, often creates practical problems in daily life. This study aimed to design and manufacture a 90° S-shaped clothes hanger made of steel that can be securely mounted on the top edge of a 38 mm-thick door leaf. The manufacturing process included designing the hanger, cutting a steel plate measuring 210 × 20 × 2 mm, shaping both ends into semicircles, smoothing sharp edges, marking bending lines, performing sequential bending operations, applying surface finishing through painting or chromium/nickel plating, and conducting quality and dimensional inspections. The final product was a durable steel clothes hanger with a 90° S-shaped configuration that can be easily installed on room or bathroom doors without requiring holes or permanent modifications. Testing results showed that the hanger could support loads of up to 6 kg while maintaining structural integrity. The manufacturing cost was approximately IDR 9,500 per unit, with a production time of about 3 minutes per piece. These results indicate that the developed hanger provides a practical, portable, and cost-effective solution for increasing clothing storage capacity in limited residential spaces while preserving the condition of the door surface.

Abstract

The dead branch drain became a problem in the rectangular culvert project carried out by the Malang City Government because water could not flow properly from the paved road into the drainage system. This condition caused weed growth, urine odor, puddles after rain, sand accumulation that could make motorcycle tires slip, and muddy sidewalks that endangered pedestrians. The aim of this community service was to channel water from the rectangular culvert to the branch drain and allow rainwater on the paved road to enter the drain through a grating cover. The methods included discussions with the Head of RW 06, RT 03 residents, and Taman Kusuma 2 Housing residents, determining the design, installing embankments in the control basin, and installing a 20 cm cylindrical culvert beneath the PDAM pipe. The results showed that the drainage system functioned effectively in reducing weeds, odors, puddles, and dirt accumulation, creating synergy between Malang State Polytechnic and the community in building a clean, healthy, and beautiful environment.
