Abstract

In Indonesia, soybeans are categorized as secondary crops with high demand. Indonesian government still emphasizes soybean self-sufficiency and efforts to grow soybean production, but the low yields and limited profitability of soybeans imply that Indonesian farmers will continue to grow other crops, namely rice or corn. This study aims to identify whether the Semarang district government must issue  seed subsidies to support soybean competitiveness in terms of productivity and minimum prices so that it can compete with other crops, namely rice, and corn. Primary and secondary data are used in this study. Primary data were collected in a field survey in Bancak District. The sampling method uses a purposive sampling technique, which interviewed 45 farmers. Analyzed using descriptive statistics and competitiveness matrix analysis. The results showed that the analysis of soybean competitiveness was lower than rice and corn despite the existence of subsidy assistance.

Abstract

The Food Independent Village Program was performed to give an impact on reducing the level of food and nutrition insecurity of the needy in rural areas. The success of program implementation can be seen from the level of food security of the household recipients. This research aimed to determine the level of food security based on 1) Share of Food Expenses (PPP), 2) Energy Sufficiency Rate (AKE), 3) Performance of household food security. The research method used was a survey method. Sampling used was a random sample (Random Sampling) with 85 respondents. The analysis method used was a cross-combination approach between the share of food expenses (PPP) and the level of household energy consumption (AKE). The results showed that based on AKE the distribution of food-secure households was 65.53% and food insecure was 36.47%. Meanwhile, based on PPP, the distribution of households that were food insecure was 40% and food secure was 60%. The performance of household food security in the food security category was 25.88 percent, food vulnerability was 40.00 percent, food shortage was 14.12 percent, and food insecurity was 20.00 percent. The proportion of households that were food insecure was still large, which means that efforts were needed to improve the food security of households who were the Food Independent Village program recipients.

Abstract

Abstract

Competitiveness requires a country to excel in competitive and comparative advantage. The commodities that need to be developed are rice. This commodity was chosen because it is a commodity that the government prioritizes and is full of agricultural policies. The purpose of this study is to determine profits, competitive and comparative advantages and the impact of government policies. This research was conducted in March 2018 in Susukan District, Semarang Regency. The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique with a total of 30 respondents. Data analysis using Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM). The results showed that farming has a competitive and comparative advantage seen from the value of PCR and DRCR less than 1 but the DRCR value of 0.935 means that farming is feared no longer has comparative advantage if there is no interference from government policy. For the government, the policy of subsidizing fertilizers and pesticides is continued so that the farming business remains competitive but the use of fertilizer by farmers should be reduced so that it is in accordance with recommendations from the Agriculture Service or researchers. Marketers should target the domestic market because the price of rice in the international market is lower than in the country.

Abstract

The demand for soybean needs continues to increase every year. This is not matched by productivity. The role of the government is to attract farmers to conduct business by providing subsidies. Even though they haven't reached the productivity target, some farmers conduct the early harvest. Therefore, this study aims to: 1) determine the R/C ratio of young soybean pods and old soybean pods commodity, knowing the breakeven point of productivity and prices of young soybean pods and old pods. The location selection was carried out purposively (purposive) and the determination of respondents using purposive sampling technique with a total of 39 respondents. Data sources used secondary and primary data. The data collection method was conducted by interview. This research used R/C ratio analysis, breakeven analysis of productivity and price. The results showed that the R/C ratio of commodity young soybean pods> 1.23, old pods = 1. The breakeven point of productivity and price of young pods was 523 kg/ha, IDR 763 kg and old pods 708.21 kg/ha, IDR 1,214, 93 kg, this exceeds the breakeven point of productivity and price and thus results in a profit. Therefore, there is a need for the government to play a role in setting prices for old soybean pods to attract farmers to cultivate old soybean pods.
