Abstract

Land is an important part especially for the poor because land is able to provide opportunities for the poor to get out of poverty. Land redistribution is one of the policies aimed at reducing poverty levels. This study uses a literature study and descriptive statistic to see the effect of Land reform in the form of land redistribution on poverty. Based on the results of reviews of previous studies, it was found that most concluded that land redistribution had a negative effect on poverty levels. Studies conducted in Indonesia related to land redistribution confirm the results that land redistribution can reduce poverty levels through increasing income from production in the agricultural sector and access to credit. This implies that land redistribution is the right policy to reduce poverty so that it needs to be increased both in terms of number and accuracy of target recipients. Keywords: Poverty. Abstract

Technology utilization is often considered one of the main drivers promoting inclusive development. As a form of technology utilization, whether using the internet can promote inclusive development has been a concern for researchers and policymakers. Considering geographical connectivity characteristics, we examine the effects of internet penetration on inclusive development by applying spatial econometric models and using data from 34 provinces in Indonesia from 2015 to 2020. This study reveals that encouraging the internet penetration can significantly improves the inclusive development in a province. However, the increase of internet penetration leads to the decrease of inclusive development in neighboring provinces. The digital divide among provinces in Indonesia can be attributed to this phenomenon. This study also indicates a strong positive spatial correlation of inclusive development. Our findings point to the need for policies to promote people's use of the internet to achieve more benefits from development, balance the digital development to reduce the harmful effects of the digital divide, and consider the spatial aspects when making policies to promote inclusive development. Keywords: Inclusive Development; Internet Penetration; Spatial Analysis

Abstract

Banks nowadays have come with innovations in all of their operations, particularly in account application. Therefore, people can apply for their account personally from any places by using the smartphone technology. However, it increases the possible risk of money laundering, especially in banking. One of the phenomena is the high number of Suspicious Financial Transaction Reports (LTKM) received by the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (INTRAC). Hence, this study analyzes the effect of Indonesia’s social demography on the risk of each individual of committing money laundering.Using secondary data obtained from INTRAC, the derived and selected independent variables was analyzed using ordinal logistic regression to determine their effect on the dependent variable, i.e. the Money Laundering Risk Score (MLRS). This study finds that the social demographic factors affecting the risk of money laundering committed by individuals are sex, age, marital status, occupation, and the history of financial service usage, in which occupation has the highest effect.

Abstract

This paper attempts to show that causality of the impact of macroeconomic factors in the form of inflation and gross domestic product on the farmer term of trade in East Java Province, Indonesia. This research was carried out over eleven years quarterly, starting from 2010-2021, and was analyzed using the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The finding of this study indicated that, in the short and long term, inflation has a negative impact but not a significant effect. A 1% increase in inflation in the current period would have the impact of decreasing the term of trade of farmers by 0.0009% in the future period. This often happens due to the decline in the value of the currency which is mostly caused by speculator buyers who buy products from farmers. Meanwhile, a 1% increase in gross regional domestic product in the current period would have an increase in the farmer term of trade by 0.02% in the next period. This finding shows that inflation cannot be seen as extraordinary, affecting to the farmer’s term of trade. Rising inflation can lead to the decreasing level of farmers' welfare due to costs that must be paid by farmers.JEL Classification E31; J43; O11

Since the last decade, Indonesia had a relatively low economic growth performance compared to several countries in Southeast Asia. To encourage economic growth in Indonesia, the role of the central bank is one of the policies that need to be considered. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the role of the central bank, especially in controlling inflation, exchange rates, and interest rates on economic growth. This study uses the ARDL method to ensure short-term and long-term relationships between variables. The results showed that there is a short-term and long-term relationship between interest rates and exchange rates on economic growth. This study also finds that there is no significant relationship between inflation and economic growth in both the short and long term. This analysis shows various central bank policies to stimulate economic growth such as exchange rates and interest rates.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to significant shifts in consumer behavior, particularly in terms of shopping preferences and behavior, with a marked increase in online shopping. This study aims to re-examine the factors influencing online shopping behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic by integrating  framework the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), and Cognitive Biases. The study focuses on Indonesian millennials as the target population. Data analysis is conducted using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS 3.0 software. The results show that cognitive bias, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and subjective norms influence individuals' intentions to shop online. However, attitudes towards use and perceived behavioral control do not influence individuals' intentions to shop online. Finally, the results indicate that individuals' intentions to shop online impact actual online shopping behavior. The higher the individual's intention to shop online, the more certain they are to do so during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this research is to measure the efficiency of conventional commercial banks in distributing credit in the 2018 – 2022 period using the DEA method. For this study, 42 Indonesian conventional commercial banks serve as the analytic unit. The input variables used consist of Third Party Funds and labor costs, while the output variables consist of credit and interest income. The results of this research indicate that Indonesia's traditional commercial banks are currently not operating efficiently. Of the 42 banks examined throughout the five-year research period, just nine of them attained a 100% efficiency level. To reach a 100% efficiency value, inefficient banks can increase their output or decrease their input.
