Abstract

Reproduction management is one of the important things in a dairy farming business because good reproductive management, along with high reproductive capacity, will increase the efficiency and productivity of livestock. This study aims to determine the reproductive performance of FH dairy cows at first lactation on first mating post partus, service per conception, days open, calving interval, coception rate, calving rate and fertility status. The results of the research showed reproductive performance with parameters first mating post partus 59.5 days, service per conception 4.5 times, days open 145,5 days. The conclusion of this research is reproductive performance is not optimal.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of litter size and mother weight on dairy goat milk production. The research method uses the survey method, data collection is carried out by purposive sampling with the criteria of Kaligesing dairy goats that have been lactation as many as 100 tail. The variables analyzed were the identity of the farmer, litter size, milk production and mother weight. Data analysis was carried out with descriptive analysis and simple correlation analysis. The results showed that the average litter size was 2.04 heads, milk production was 896 ml or 0.9 liters and the parent weight was 44.77 kg. The results of the correlation analysis showed a value of 0.662 or there was a strong relationship between the litter size and the weight of the mother to goat milk production. It can be concluded that the litter size and mother weight have a strong influence on the milk yield of dairy goats.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the success rate of artificial insemination (AI) in dairy cows at KPSBU Lembang District based on experience and different ages of inseminators. The research was carried out on December 26, 2022 - January 31, 2023, in Lembang District. The research was conducted using a survey method and the variables measured were the success of artificial insemination including service per conception (S/C), Conception Rate (CR), Non-Return Rate (NRR), and Calving Interval (CI). Data analysis used in this study is a simple correlation analysis and quantitative descriptive. The results showed that the average age of the inseminator was 39 years old, the average inseminator work experience was 19 years. Meanwhile, the average of S/C value was 1.84 time, the CR value was 64.50%, the NRR value was 93%, and CI value with an average of 13 months. The correlation analysis showed that (X) experience and age have no significant effect (p>0,05) on the success of AI based on (Y) S/C and CR. It can be concluded that the success rate of artificial insemination of dairy cows based on S/C and CR in Lembang District was good, but the experience and age of inseminators had not affected the success of artificial insemination in Lembang District

Abstract

The method and duration of storage are crucial factors determining quality of fresh milk, as assessed by total bacterial, fat content, and protein content of fresh milk. This research aims to determine the comparison of the total bacterial count, fat content, and protein content of fresh milk stored at a low temperature and at room temperature. The research subjects used were fresh milk obtained from a single cow in a single milking process, stored at a low temperature of 4 – 6 ℃ and at room temperature, and then tested and compared for the total bacterial count, fat content, and protein content after storage for the 2nd, 4th, and 6th hours. The data obtained was statistically analyzed using the student’s t-test at a confidence level of α = 95%. The result showed that there a significant difference (p<0,05) in total bacterial and fat content. Within 6 hours, at a low temperature, total bacterial increased from the initial 3,07 × 105 cfu/ml to 5,95 × 105 cfu/ml, while at room temperature, it rose to 21.02 × 105 cfu/ml. The initial fat content was 4,14%, and after 6 hours of storage, at a low temperature, fat content decreased to 3,35%, whereas at room temperature, it dropped below the SNI standard of 3 to 2,91%. As for the protein content of the milk, both at low and room temperatures, the protein did not decrease and did not show a significant difference (p<0,05). It can be concluded that up to two hours of storage, the quality of milk is not affected by temperature. However, after being stored for more than two hours, the storage temperature does impact the total bacterial count and the fat content of the milk.

Abstract

This research aims to determined the effect of feed adequacy on the production and quality of dairy goat milk in Turi District. This research was carried out in the field and laboratory from 01 to 24 October 2023. A total of 98 dairy goat breeders were selected as respondents with the criteria of having at least 1 year of farming experience and having at least 2 animals. From each goat they raise, milk samples are taken to test the quality in the laboratory. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively and by multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the average age of farmers is 44 years, with an education level of 86% high school graduates, the number of family dependents of 4-5 people is 67%, the majority work as farmers 52% (69% ≤10 years and 31% ≥11 years). Livestock ownership status is 100% privately owned with an average ownership of 2-5 heads. The average body weight of dairy goats was 40.13 ± 6.91 kg, with milk production of 2.21 ± 0.51 liters/day. Furthermore, the milk quality variable shows that the average specific gravity and non-fat solids are 1.055 ± 0.08 and 8.42 ± 0.43. Feed adequacy (Dry Matter) is 1.43 and Crude Protein adequacy is 7.44. Milk production was significantly (p<0.05) 52.6% influenced by the level of feed adequacy with the regression equation Y = -1.513 + 0.033XI + 0.495X2. Meanwhile, milk density was 48.5% influenced by the level of feed adequacy (p>0.05) with the regression equation Y = 1.043 + 0.073XI - 0.013X2. Likewise, the lean solitaire variable which was not significant (p>0.05) was influenced by the level of feed adequacy (0.75%) with the regression equation Y = 6.874 + 0.155XI + 0.183X2. It was concluded that the adequacy of feed for dairy goats in Turi District for production was sufficient and for milk quality it was in accordance with the 2011 SNI.
