Abstract

This article discusses TVRI's understanding of the crisis it faces and how crisismanagement is carried out to deal with the crisis. The crisis faced by TVRI was a crisis related to the management of the organization, especially related to finance and HR, and the reputation crisis because the image as a old school TV attached to TVRI that arose because of changes in the audience as recipients of messages was not followed by changes to TVRI as a communicator. TVRI management takes steps to adapt to the changes that have occurred in this millennial era. The steps taken are communicated into and out of the institution using the current media to get support from the internal and attract public attention.

Abstract

The success of an organization can be measured by the level of satisfaction felt by partners/clients. Basically, many factors that influence the level of satisfaction of partners/clients include the effectiveness of communication and service quality. In the past few years TVRI Sumatra has experienced a decline in the number of customers. This may be caused by the effectiveness of communication and poor service quality. This type of research is quantitative using analytic descriptive design. Sampling was determined by the total sampling technique on TVRI West Sumatra Public Broadcasting Partners, which amounted to 67 respondents. Data collection tools using questionnaires and observations. Data analysis using Chi-square. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between the effectiveness of organizational communication with Partner Satisfaction with a P value of 0,000 (P <0.05) OR 7,500 (95% CI = (2,533-22,204), and there was a significant relationship between service quality and satisfaction partners with a SE value of a value of OR 37,500 (95% CI = (7,509-187,284).

Abstract

Da’wah strategies continue to evolve in collaboration with societal trends and receptivity. A dissonance between societal developments and the methods of religious propagation may result in the rejection of religious messages and strained interactions between majority and minority groups. Therefore, a more contextualized approach is required to enhance the effectiveness of da’wah. This study explored dramaturgical da’wah as a strategic framework employed by religious communicators to convey religious messages through frontstage and backstage performances. Utilizing a qualitative methodology, data were collected through interviews and observations of Muslim minority preachers on Nias Island. The findings demonstrated that da’wah practices were implemented by following dramaturgical principles, engaging audiences differently across stages. The success of this strategy was influenced by segmented communication methods, cultural adaptation to local traditions, and the portrayal of Islam as peaceful and open to interfaith dialogue. This approach contributed to fostering interreligious harmony and sustaining the presence of Muslim minorities in Nias. The study offers a novel perspective, highlighting that the development of da’wah strategies must consider the field of experience, particularly in regions where Muslims are a minority.

Abstract

Strengthening Religious Literacy as a Means of Social Empowerment for Marginalized Communities in Koto Iman Village. Marginalized communities in Indonesia often face exclusion in various aspects of life, particularly in accessing education and religious understanding. This condition limits their ability to gain knowledge that could improve their quality of life. One critical yet overlooked aspect is religious literacy, which goes beyond reading sacred texts to include an understanding of religious values that promote social transformation. Strengthening religious literacy can serve as an effective tool for social empowerment by introducing values such as justice, solidarity, and social change tailored to their lived realities. This study explores how religious literacy can be utilized as a means of empowering marginalized communities. Specifically, it analyzes relevant and contextual forms of religious literacy, examines implementation strategies, and identifies the challenges encountered in strengthening religious literacy among marginalized groups. Using a qualitative approach, this research combines literature review and in-depth interviews with religious leaders, community figures, and social institutions engaged in faith-based empowerment. Thematic analysis is employed to identify key themes related to the forms, strategies, and challenges of implementing religious literacy for social empowerment. The findings aim to offer practical recommendations to strengthen religious literacy as a sustainable tool for community empowerment.

Abstract

The online news coverage regarding the ongoing Gaza conflict published by Ynetnews extends beyond information dissemination but also includes information frames that align with Israel's noopolitik interests. However, this theme remains under academic research as literature regarding this study remains scarce. This study is also based on the question: how Ynetnews use media framing as an Israeli noopolitik tool to create a negative image of Hamas in the ongoing hostilities between Hamas and Israel. The data in this study was collected by analysing twenty-seven (27) news articles published on Ynetnews website using the keyword ‘Israel-Palestine Conflict’ from 10 December 2023 to 14 January 2024. This study employed the framing analysis method of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicky to uncover and answer the research questions. The study highlights two important findings on Israel’s noopolitik strategy: The first strategy is made through the consistent portrayal of Hamas as a terrorist group as being published by Ynetnews in its online content. Second strategy is by accusing Hamas of playing the victim, which is paradoxically a strategy being projected by Israel.

Abstract

This study examines the ambivalent reception of Islam Nusantara in Minangkabau, West Sumatra, where local Islamic practices associated with cultural accommodation remain socially accepted, while the label Islam Nusantara is strongly contested. The study is important because it addresses a paradox in Minangkabau religious life: practices such as maulid, badikia, grave pilgrimages, communal recitations, malamang, and post-death rituals are embedded in local Islamic traditions, yet become suspicious when explicitly associated with Islam Nusantara. Using a qualitative approach, this research draws on semi-structured interviews with 16 informants, including ulama, Nahdlatul Ulama leaders and activists, ninik mamak, and community members in Padang Pariaman and Pasaman Barat. The study also analyzes online news reports, institutional statements, and public discourse materials published between 2018 and 2022. Data were examined through thematic analysis using Jan Hajda’s theory of ambivalence. The findings show three main patterns: first, the coexistence of practice acceptance and label rejection; second, the role of ABS–SBK as a contested interpretive field rather than a fixed philosophy of Islam and adat; and third, the production of threat narratives through institutional authority, elite framing, digital circulation, and trusted informal networks. This study contributes to the literature on Islam Nusantara, local Islam, and religious authority by showing that resistance to a religious discourse may emerge not from the substance of practice, but from the stigma, authority, and symbolic burden attached to its label.

Abstract

This study examines how YouTube audiences interpret eschatological Islamic da‘wah messages delivered by Ustadz Zulkifli Muhammad Ali within the digital public sphere. Employing a qualitative reception analysis, the research draws on Stuart Hall’s encoding/decoding framework to categorize audience interpretations into preferred, negotiated, and oppositional readings. The data were collected from user comments posted on the YouTube video “The End of the Age is Very Near” and systematically analyzed using NVivo 12 Plus. The findings reveal that negotiated and oppositional readings are more prominent than preferred readings, indicating a critical and reflexive mode of audience engagement. Many responses articulate skepticism, satire, and selective acceptance of the eschatological message, as viewers attempt to contextualize the da‘wah within broader social realities, religious knowledge, and contemporary concerns. These patterns suggest that digital da‘wah audiences do not merely consume religious messages but actively interpret, contest, and reframe them. This study contributes to the growing scholarship on digital da‘wah and religion online by demonstrating that religious meaning on social media is produced through dialogic and contested processes, where religious authority and interpretation are continuously negotiated in platform-mediated environments.
