Abstract

The increase in the number of deliveries by CS causes an increase in the number of women with a history of CS for a second pregnancy and becomes a problem for subsequent types of birth. An effort to reduce the incidence of CS delivery is with Vaginal Birth After Caesarean (VBAC). Vaginal birth After Caesarean (VBAC) is a vaginal birth after a cesarean section (Cunningham, 2013). Mothers who are afraid of undergoing a normal birth process are caused by many factors, one of which is the problem of lack of information provided and support from both health workers and family regarding the choice of VBAC method. This study aimed to determine the relationship between maternal knowledge, family support, and health worker support on the choice of VBAC method at TPMB West Jakarta City in 2024. The method used in this research is observational analytics with a Cross-Sectional Study design. The sample in this study was pregnant women in the second and third trimesters with a history of 1 time non-absolutely indicated CS (such as CPD, uterine rupture). In this research, the instrument used was a questionnaire sheet. The analysis used Chi Square. There is a relationship between knowledge and the choice of delivery method, Vaginal Birth After Caesar (VBAC), the value is (p=0.000), there is a significant relationship between family support and the choice of delivery method, Vaginal Birth After Caesar (VBAC), the value is (p=0.000) and there was a significant relationship between support from health workers and the choice of delivery method. Vaginal Birth After Caesar (VBAC) was obtained (p=0.000).

Abstract

Traditional postpartum care is still practiced in Cimanggu District. Based on 2024 data, 27 mothers experienced problems during the postpartum period caused by the use of bengkung, consumption of sambel peupeuh, application of campuh, and practicing the traditions of nyanda and sangsurkeun. Several factors influencing the practice of traditional care according to theories and previous studies include knowledge, attitude, culture, family support, and health worker support. Objective to analyze the factors influencing exclusive breastfeeding practices among mothers in Pancoran Mas District, Depok City, in 2025.  This research employed a qualitative approach to explore mothers’ experiences and perceptions of exclusive breastfeeding in Pancoran Mas District, Depok City. A total of 24 informants participated, consisting of 20 main informants (mothers with infants aged 6–12 months and family members) and 4 key informants (midwives and community health cadres). Participants were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews guided by semi-structured interview protocols. All interviews were recorded, transcribed verbatim, and analyzed thematically using NVivo software to identify emerging themes related to perceptions, experiences, barriers, support systems, and workplace policies influencing exclusive breastfeeding. Trustworthiness of the findings was ensured through triangulation of sources, member checking, and peer debriefing. Most mothers perceived exclusive breastfeeding positively for maternal and infant health, yet concerns about physical changes, maternal fatigue, stress, cultural influences, and lack of workplace support emerged as barriers, while emotional, professional, and family support facilitated its practice. Exclusive breastfeeding is shaped by maternal perceptions, with support from family, health workers, and workplace policies playing a key role in sustaining the practice.

Abstract

The prevalence of stunting in Bogor City in 2024 will be 18.2%. The national target is 14%. Policy analysis is needed to identify the success and obstacles of stunting management policy programs in the community. To conduct an analysis of the implementation and effectiveness of stunting handling policy programs in Bogor City based on stakeholder information. Qualitative descriptive research with in-depth interviews and observations of 16 informants consisting of (Head of Health Office, Head of Health Center, Coordinating Midwife, Posyandu Cadres, and Toddler Women) in Tanah Sareal and South Bogor Districts, Bogor City. Evaluation criteria based on William N. Dunn. Data were analyzed using NVivo 15 through thematic analysis. Data analysis produced 5 major themes, namely (program management and leadership, labor and cost barriers, social problems and citizens' habits, changes in officers' habits and responses, suggestions and expectations for the future), 12 categories and 65 codes. The policy runs effectively through the commitment of regional leaders (cross-sector coordination) and digital innovation of virtual referrals (Important Mess). The efficiency aspect is hampered by double input, limited nutritional personnel, and time-lag problems of logistics data. Socioculturally, parental denial and traditional parenting are challenges. However, the responsiveness of officers through the action of "picking up the ball" (sweeping) has proven to be successful in transforming people's behavior in fulfilling animal protein and toddlers' rest patterns. The stunting handling program in Bogor City has high responsiveness but is constrained by the efficiency of the workload of health workers and sociocultural barriers to the family. The Anuh Larang, Penting Lur, and Taleus Bogor programs increase the coverage of services, changes in family behavior, and community nutrition awareness. However, implementation still faces limitations in human resources, administrative burden, and regional capacity disparities.

Abstract

Background: Nutritional health services play a crucial role for pregnant women in supporting fetal growth, preventing complications, and reducing the risk of stunting. Purpose: To explore nutritional health services for pregnant women. Method: A phenomenological approach involving 11 informants (pregnant women, family members, healthcare workers, community cares, and policymakers). Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns and themes emerging from participants’ narratives. Results: The analysis generated 47 codes, which were grouped into 8 categories and distilled into two main themes: (1) Experiences of Receiving Nutritional Services, including routine screening, internal referrals, multidisciplinary collaboration, availability of supplements/PMT, and digital media–based education; (2) Barriers in Nutritional Practices and Uptake, including brief communication due to workload, low effectiveness of conventional education, internal constraints (nausea, side effects, forgetting to take supplements), socio-economic challenges, conflicts between medical advice and family traditions, as well as perceptions that services are more beneficial for high risk patients. Conclusion: Although nutritional services are relatively well-structured and adequate, their implementation still faces significant barriers related to communication, education, internal, socio economic, and cultural factors. These findings highlight the need for interventions focusing on more effective communication strategies and strengthening the role of reliable information sources to improve the nutritional status of pregnant women.

Abstract

Background: Midwife compliance in completely and consistently filling out the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Handbook is an essential pillar for providing quality Antenatal Care (ANC). The MCH Handbook functions as an instrument for early risk detection, a portable medical record, and a communication tool among healthcare professionals. In practice, however, the level of midwife compliance still faces various challenges that risk diminishing the quality of maternal and child health services.. Purpose: To analysis of the factors influencing midwife compliance in filling out the MCH Handbook using the theoretical framework of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). Method: A descriptive qualitative approach, specifically focusing on exploratory study. The study took place May - September 2025, in North Cikarang, Bekasi. Using total sampling 16 participants were selected, contributor informant inquired midwives providing ANC services, midwife coordinators, heads of puskesmas, and district health office officials. Data collection was carried out using in-depth interviews. The data were analysed using thematic analysis technique. Results: Midwives’ completion of the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Handbook is influenced by both intrinsic factors, such as professional duty and commitment to quality care, and external factors, including regulatory requirements and institutional demands like BPJS claims. Despite challenges such as limited training, complex handbook sections, high patient loads, and duplicated documentation, effective teamwork, well-established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and strict supervision can enhance accurate and consistent record-keeping. The handbook is valued as a critical tool for continuity of care, early risk detection, provider communication, maternal education, and professional accountability. Strengthening community engagement can further support compliance, creating bottom-up accountability that complements administrative obligations and sustains quality midwifery practice. Conclusion: Effective completion of the MCH Handbook by midwives depends on a combination of intrinsic motivation, external regulations, supportive systems, and community engagement, which together ensure accurate documentation, quality care, and professional accountability.

Abstract

Background: Anemia during pregnancy remains a major public health concern associated with an increased risk of adverse maternal and fetal outcomes. Prevention strategies should not rely solely on Iron and Folic Acid (IFA) supplementation, but also on adequate nutritional intake. Beetroot (Beta vulgaris) and red guava (Psidium guajava) are rich in iron-supporting nutrients, vitamin C, folate, and antioxidants, making them potential dietary complements for anemia prevention. Objective: This community service program aimed to improve pregnant women's knowledge and practical skills regarding anemia prevention through health education and demonstrations on preparing beetroot and red guava juice. Methods: The program was conducted at Jamilah Independent Midwifery Practice, South Jakarta, Indonesia, involving 15 pregnant women. The intervention consisted of health education, demonstrations and hands-on practice in preparing beetroot and red guava juice, interactive discussions, individual consultations, distribution of educational leaflets, and evaluation using pre-test and post-test questionnaires. Participants' practical skills were also assessed through direct observation. Results: The educational intervention resulted in a marked improvement in participants' knowledge. The mean knowledge score increased from 61.7 in the pre-test to 87.7 in the post-test, representing an average increase of 26.0 points (42.1%). In addition, 14 participants (93.3%) successfully prepared beetroot and red guava juice independently according to the demonstrated procedures. Participants also understood that beetroot and red guava juice should be consumed as part of a balanced diet and serves as a dietary complement rather than a substitute for routine Iron and Folic Acid (IFA) supplementation recommended during pregnancy. Conclusion: This community service program effectively improved pregnant women's knowledge and practical skills related to anemia prevention through the utilization of beetroot and red guava juice. Integrating nutrition education with practical demonstrations may strengthen healthy dietary behaviors among pregnant women and support ongoing efforts to reduce the risk of anemia during pregnancy.

Abstract

Adolescent nutritional problems in Indonesia are increasingly complex due to the double burden of malnutrition, including undernutrition, overnutrition, anaemia, and chronic energy deficiency (CED). A preliminary study in Rancabungur District, Bogor Regency, indicated that many adolescent girls were at risk of anaemia and chronic energy deficiency (MUAC < 23.5 cm). Most adolescents frequently consumed fast food, had low intake of vegetables and fruits, and did not regularly consume iron supplementation. This study aimed to analyse nutritional problems among adolescent girls in Rancabungur District, particularly to identify nutritional status and the distribution of undernutrition, overweight, obesity, anaemia, and CED. A mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design was employed. The quantitative phase used a cross-sectional design with bivariate and multivariate analyses, while the qualitative phase involved in-depth interviews. Among 216 adolescent girls, 62.9% experienced nutritional problems, including CED (19.4%), overweight (15.7%), undernutrition (13.4%), anaemia (6.5%), and obesity (3.2%). Teacher support (OR = 28.465), eating habits (OR = 8.948), and mass media (OR = 8.184) were significant determinants, with teacher support identified as the most dominant factor. Motivation (OR = 0.09) and health services (OR = 0.05) acted as protective factors. Qualitative findings indicated that low nutrition literacy, peer influence, and limited family and school support contribute to these issues.
