Abstract

Post-caesarean wound healing is influenced by the mother’s knowledge and behavior in wound care. Conventional education often fails to provide adequate information on self-care after childbirth. Digital education through a Momsite allows for interactive, flexible, and repeated access to health materials, potentially improving health literacy, wound care behavior, and optimal wound healing. To examine the effect of Momsite education on post-caesarean wound healing in postpartum mothers at Banten Hospital. A quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design was used. The sample included 66 postpartum mothers following caesarean sections, divided into 33 respondents in the intervention group and 33 in the control group, selected by purposive sampling. Instruments included validated and reliable questionnaires on knowledge and wound care behavior (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.934–0.973), as well as wound healing assessment using the REEDA scale. Data analysis involved Paired t-test, Independent t-test, and Hotelling’s T² with significance set at p<0.05. Momsite education significantly influenced knowledge, wound care behavior compliance, and post-caesarean wound healing (p<0.05). The largest effect was on wound care behavior (Partial η² = 0.827), followed by knowledge (Partial η² = 0.630) and wound healing (Partial η² = 0.518). Momsite education is effective in enhancing post-caesarean wound healing in postpartum mothers.

Abstract

Low Birth Weight (LBW) is a public health indicator that reflects the maternal nutritional status, pregnancy health, and the quality of maternal health services. LBW increases the risk of infant death, neonatal morbidity, growth disorders, and chronic diseases later in life. In the city of Depok, the prevalence of LBW has increased over the past three years despite relatively good access to services, indicating complex determining factors. This study aims to analyze the determinant factors of LBW incidence. The research used a mixed methods design, with the quantitative phase conducted using a casecontrol design on mothers who gave birth to low birth weight babies and babies with normal birth weight. Quantitative data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using logistic regression, quantitative data collection was a questionnaire that had undergone validity and reliability testing, with a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.946.. The qualitative phase was conducted using Convergent Parallel through in-depth interviews with mothers, families, and healthcare workers. Qualitative analysis used Braun & Clarke's thematic analysis technique.  Quantitative findings showed that low maternal education, low economic status, at-risk maternal age, high parity, short birth spacing, inadequate weight gain, suboptimal antenatal visits, and pregnancy-related medical risks were significantly associated with LBW (p < 0.05). Maternal education was identified as the most dominant factor. Qualitative results revealed that low health literacy, limited family support, and barriers to accessing information contributed to LBW incidence. Low birth weight in infants is influenced by the interaction of maternal, socioeconomic, and environmental factors.

Abstract

Background: Adolescence is a critical developmental period in which academic demands may contribute to stress and psychosomatic symptoms. Parental social support may help adolescents cope with stress and protect their well-being. Purpose: To determine the associations of academic stress and parental social support with psychosomatic symptoms among adolescents. Method: A quantitative observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among 81 students at an integrated Islamic junior high school in Indonesia. Participants were selected using simple random sampling. Academic stress, parental social support, and psychosomatic symptoms were assessed using the Educational Stress Scale for Adolescents (ESSA), the parent-support subscale of the Child and Adolescent Social Support Scale (CASSS), and the Indonesian Somatic Symptom Scale-8 (ISSS-8), respectively. Data were analyzed using Fisher's exact test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: Most respondents were male (60.5%), aged 13 years (30.9%), and in Grade 7 (39.5%). Moderate academic stress was most common (69.1%), while 60.5% reported high parental social support. Academic stress was significantly associated with psychosomatic symptoms (p = 0.010), as was parental social support (p = 0.030). Conclusion: Academic stress and parental social support were significantly associated with psychosomatic symptoms among adolescents. School-based screening and collaboration with parents are recommended to support adolescent well-being.
