Abstract

This study is motivated by the notion that language is an important aspect in examining social life and culture. The use of language is realized through speech acts. However, the nature of the speech acts from the stand point of internal culture has many interpretations. According to Austin (1962), an etnopragmatic study is a study of speech acts that reveals an association between delivery of speech of the Kiai (the scholar) and the cultural values of the society. Therefore, this study seeks to capture the type of speech acts contained in the speech of Syarah (explanation) of Al-Hikam and Interpretation of the Koran recitation in a religious lecture for mothers in the Nurul Huda Mosque in Kampung Cireungit, Garut, and the relationship between the delivery of the speech and the cultural values of the society.

Abstract

 A Short story is a miniature of people's experience while the characters, plot, and setting aim to record imaginative events (Stanton, 2017). When making up story ideas, students have problems developing story facts such as plot, characters, and settings (Sayuti, 2006). This barrier emerged conflicts that were unevenly distributed across all stages of the course. The direct characterization employed in storytelling made the short stories less varied. The physical and setting depicted did not work out optimally. The advantage of using the synectic model is that it can allow students to look for and makeup concepts to describe objects through an analogy process. Augmented Reality allows users to interact with an object's interface and see it in a well-designed and attractive 3D format, so it can solve student difficulties in developing story ideas in writing short stories.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon that ronggeng is a cultural heritage in the life of the Javanese people. This study used descriptive qualitative method. This study uses a qualitative approach with a direct analysis design on the novel. This is done to study the aspects of women's representation in the novel which is used as the object of study. This research shows that the novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk displays several discourses on sexuality. The depictions of sexual relations between Srintil and several male characters, namely Rasus, Ki Secamenggala, Dower, and Sulam show that Srintil is an object that is forced to surrender to circumstances. Srintil and Rasus have a complex relationship with the image of Mother in Srintil. Then, Srintil's relationship with Ki Secamengala was seen as a religious ritual that was sacred to the people of Dukuh Paruk. Furthermore, the relationship between Srintil, Dower and Sulam is like a buying and selling transaction. The depiction of the myths and stereotypes of the Dukuh Paruk community appears with several discourses of sexuality. This novel is also closely related to cultural values because in this novel the story is related to beliefs related to the existence of ronggeng in the hamlet. The characters in the novel highly uphold the cultural values taught by their ancestors. In addition, there are many spells such as love spells and love breaker spells as part of the representation of cultural elements in aspects of oral literature.

Abstract

This study aims to explore: 1) the professional competence of elementary school high-graduate teachers in learning factual paragraph reading skills; 2) the pedagogical competence of elementary school high-graduate teachers in learning factual paragraph reading skills. The population of this study consisted of 32 elementary school high-grade teachers in Malangbong District, who submitted questionnaires via Google Forms. The sample consisted of up to 30 teachers, determined using statistical formulas. Data on the professional and pedagogical competence of elementary and high school teachers in learning factual paragraph reading skills were collected using a Google Form-based questionnaire compiled through objective and systematic procedures to ensure it met the requirements of a valid instrument. Data on the professional and pedagogical competence of elementary school high-grade teachers in learning factual paragraph reading skills were analysed using parametric inferential statistical procedures, specifically the one-sample t-test. The results of the study: 1) the professional competence of elementary school and high school teachers in learning factual paragraph reading skills is in the high category; 2) the professional competence of elementary school and high school teachers in learning factual paragraph reading skills is in the high category too

Abstract

This descriptive study explores the implementation of the "Research Literacy Workshop for Indonesian Language Teachers," focusing on designing explanatory text learning based on scientific investigation using credible sources. The workshop aimed to enhance teachers’ competencies in integrating research literacy into classroom practices, enabling students to develop critical thinking and scientific reasoning skills. Data were collected through observations, participant reflections, and document analysis. Findings indicate that teachers increasingly incorporate credible sources and investigative approaches in lesson planning, fostering more interactive and inquiry-based learning experiences. The study concludes that such workshops are essential for equipping educators with practical strategies to improve students’ understanding of explanatory texts through research-oriented methods.

Abstract

This study entitled "The Influence of Synthetic Structural Analytical Methods (SAS) on Improving Beginning Reading Ability." Covid-19. Yesterday's pandemic conditions left a number of interesting things in education, such as learning that is done online and is less effective. This is because those who have just learned to read at the beginning will have difficulty increasing their abilities. Online learning conditions do not allow teachers and students to meet face to face, while in learning to read the beginning it must be carried out directly. There are several indicators that cause reading difficulties in students, some of which are as follows. 1) students do not know the letters 2) students do not know the meaning of the sentences read. Therefore, researchers tested the use of the SAS method as a method of learning to read beginning. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach to the experimental method in improving the reading ability of grade 1 students at SDN 2 Ciudian Singajaya. The design in this study was a one-group pretest-posttest pre-experimental. The research population was class I students at SDN 2 Ciudian Singajaya with a total of 17 people using the quota (population) sampling technique. The data collection techniques are in the form of tests and observations. Testing the difference in values ​​is only carried out on the average of the two values, and for this purpose a technique called the z-test is used. The results obtained were: (1) the average ability obtained by students before being treated with the SAS method (pretest) was 81.37 (Enough); (2) the ability of the average score of students after being treated with the SAS method (post-test) is 91.17 (Very Good); (3) this study resulted in an acceptable H1, namely the use of the SAS method was effective in improving the reading ability of class I students at SDN 2 Ciudian Singajaya.

Abstract

Praktik reflektif merupakan komponen krusial dalam pengembangan profesional guru, memungkinkan evaluasi dan peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran secara berkelanjutan. Namun, pada kenyataannya, banyak guru kelas Bahasa Indonesia di sekolah dasar yang masih minim dalam menerapkan praktik reflektif, sehingga berdampak pada stagnansi inovasi pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis problematika pembelajaran yang dihadapi guru kelas Bahasa Indonesia di sekolah dasar akibat rendahnya penerapan praktik reflektif dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Praktik reflektif menjadi fondasi penting dalam pengembangan profesional guru karena memungkinkan guru untuk meninjau, mengevaluasi, dan memperbaiki strategi pembelajaran berdasarkan pengalaman mengajar mereka. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif menggunakan desain studi kasus pada guru kelas di SDN 3 MANGKURAYAT, Kabupaten Garut. Data diperoleh melalui observasi lapangan dan kajian pustaka (library research), serta dianalisis secara tematik berdasarkan teori reflektif Schön, pengembangan profesional Guskey, dan konstruktivisme pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan empat faktor utama penyebab rendahnya praktik reflektif: keterbatasan konseptual guru terhadap makna refleksi, minimnya dukungan kelembagaan, beban kerja administratif yang tinggi, dan lemahnya keterampilan reflektif guru. Penelitian ini menegaskan perlunya penguatan budaya refleksi profesional di lingkungan pendidikan dasar melalui program pelatihan reflektif, mentoring sejawat, dan dukungan kelembagaan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

This article describes students’ writing skills in expository text based on the parallel class perspective for first-grade high school students. The research took place at the beginning of the even semester 2021/2022. The research used a descriptive-quantitative method. The population of the research were all students of class X SMA Negeri 6 Karawang who submitted answers to the writing skills test via a google form, which consisted of 137 students. There were 102 students who were selected through a simple random technique. Data were analyzed by using parametric inferential statistics with one sample t-test and a one-way Anova test via SPSS. The requirements for the homogeneity of variance and the normality of the curves of the Lilifors testing method were fulfilled through SPSS completely. It was found that the t-test of one sample was 0.411 at sig. 0.682 so that sig. 0.682 > 0.05, which means that the mean observation was 6.05 similar to the estimated mean of 6.00. The observed mean of 6.05 was equivalent to a relative value of 41.21%. This percentage included the low category. F value = 0.134 in sig. 0.970, so that sig. 0.970 > 0.05, which means that there is no difference in the mean of writing skill in writing exposition texts between class X-1, class X-2, class X-3, class X-4, and class X-5. The results contributed to related institutions regarding learning to write expository texts in a context of a gender perspective and parallel classes.
