Abstract

This research is descriptive qualitative research. the purpose of this research is to analyse the pedagogical content knowledge of science’s teachers SMA Negeri 11 Kota Jambi, by using purposive sampling technique consist of nine teachers, they are two chemistry teachers, three biology teachers, three mathematics teachers and one physic teacher ware taken as a research subject are categorized as experienced, teachers who are competent in their field base on their educational background. Data collection was conducted a questionnaires reseach instruments by using a  Likert scale measurement, then followed by interviews to a mathematics teacher, a physic teacher, a biology teacher and a chemistry teacher which is reinforced by chech of documents and field observations. The result showed that teacher’s knowledge of pedagogical content knowledge still low, it can be seen from the seven aspects of PCK teachers only four aspects that can be mastered by the teacher, they are knowledge learning strategies, knowledge of the subject matter and education learning, knowledge of communication with learners and knowledge of assessment and evaluation. three of PCK teachers who still don’t understand yet are knowledge of learners and their characteristics, knowledge of curriculum development and knowledge of potential learners development.

Abstract

The development of science and information technology has changed paradigm of learning from conventional (teacher – centered) to a learning based on information and communication technology (ICT). This shift affects the teacher roles from information resources and expert in conventional teaching into facilitator, guidance an organizer in multimedia based teaching. Therefore, teachers should be able to utilize and integrate ICT. So, teachers have to have knowledge, skills and able to implement ICT in the teaching of their subjects. The purposes of this research are to measure ICT knowledge, skill and its implementation in mathematics teaching and to identify factors and obstacles affecting math teachers use ICT in the classroom of senior high school in Tanjung Jabung Barat. The method of this research is quantitative research by using descriptive analysis. Data were collected using questionnaire of teachers knowledge, skill and implementation ICT. The research populations are mathematics teachers of senior high school in Tanjung Jabung Barat and all are as the sample of this research. This is because the total populations are relatively small. The result of this research showed that the levels of teacher’s knowledge and implementation are both ‘low’, while teacher skill is at ‘medium’ level. From the background of respondents involving the status of civil servant, experience, gender, age and workshop or ICT course, it seems doesn’t effect the teachers competence. The obstacles that affect teacher in using ICT for teaching is lack of ICT facilities at school.

Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving skills in learning physics is important. According to the preliminary study conducted at MTsN Jambi, it is known that the mathematical problem solving ability of students in learning physics still low. This study aims to improve the mathematical problem solving capability by applying the team assisted individualization and self-efficacy cooperative learning model. This study was experimental research by using questionnaire self-efficacy instrument and essay test. The population of this study was seventh grade students MTsN Jambi. Data analysis was performed by using two ways-ANOVA and Tukey test. The results shows that: (1) cooperative learning model of TAI influences to students’ physical problem solving capability, (2) SE influences the students’  physical problem solving capability, (3) there are differences in high SE students’  physical problem solving capability by using cooperative learning model type TAI from those who using conventional learning models, (4) there are differences in low SE students’  physical problem solving capability by using cooperative learning model TAI type than those using conventional learning model, (5) there is no interaction between the cooperative learning model of TAI and SE of students in MTsN Jambi.

Abstract

Abstract Good multimedia is a simple and easy to understand so it can be a tool to increasing the interest of students especially in subject that required visualization. This research aim to develope the interactive learning multimedia using Macromedia Flash for students grade VIII human digestive system subject. The model used in this research is ADDIE developing model. The ADDIE developing model have some procedure such as Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation.The result of this research is a product of Biology learning Multimedia designed by Macromedia Flash and developed under ADDIE model. Developing proccess have some shortages. From validation step, media expert given the shortage from text, communicative powe, practice test and narrator voice with score 50 and 66,7% (phase I) and in phase II 71 and 94,7%. Content expert found that acontent is not complete, description picture still not clear and leak of practice test with score in phase I, II and III are 33 (60%), 40 (72,7%) and 47 (85,5%). In field test, most of students and teachers response found that product deserves to be used in classroom with score percentage for small group, large group and teachers are 95,2%, 85,6% dan 80%.

Abstract

Students’ cognitive engagement in teaching and learning process is an important factor for successful learning. Improvement of students’cognitive engagement was investigated through a teaching and learning process using POE (predict-observe-explain) approach and self-developed interactive media. The objective of this study is to improve students’ cognitive engagement in teaching and learning process at junior high school. The development of interactive multimedia uses Animate CC and Four D and its validation were explained. The self-developed interactive multimedia was used with POE approachin teaching and learning process at junior high school. This three steps predict-observe-explain approach is used and students higher order thinking and total participants showing higher order thinking characteritics were analysed. It was found that the self-developed interactive multimedia isto contribute to the students’ active cognitive engagement.

Abstract

Model of teaching Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) requires group of students to share information back to their own group from their counterpart groups. The shared information is limited as oral information dominantly shared during the teaching processes. The objective of this study was to improve shared information between groups of students in physics learning by using video at Madrasah Aliyah Nurul Jalal Tebo. The video was played to enhance shared information between groups of students using TSTSlearning model. Video was shown to the incoming students to enhance oral explanation. The number of information shared between these groups of students was compared with conventional TSTS class. Two-way anova was used to analyze the data. The results show that the use of video in TSTS learning is not significantly affect the shared information between groups of students.

Abstract

Media is one of the essential components in learning to reach the highest learning outcomes. Therefore, teachers should create and utilize media in every learning process. This study aimed to develop an e-practicum manual based on guided inquiry class material for grade VII students of junior high school. The manual was developed using the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Data were collected using questionnaire of media experts, material experts, and teacher and student perception questionnaires. This research was conducted at state junior high school 2 Jujuhan Bungo Regency Jambi Province. This study shows that the instructional e-practicum manual based on inquiry is considered interesting and suitable for learning.

Abstract

The goal of this work was to characterize the distribution of arsenic in the contaminated sediments using principal component analysis to interpret data generated by a four-step extraction protocol, an operationally defined fractionation procedure used to study the availability and mobility of trace metals available in environmental solid samples. Sediment cores collected from contaminated site of Port Kembla Harbour, Australia were sliced into 2-cm thin layers. Each layer was sieved into three different grain sizes (<63μm, >63 μm and >250 μm) under inert N2 atmosphere. Redox potential, pH, dissolved As in the interstitial water, exchangeable As, AVS-As, reducible As, and residual As data provided some reliable information concerning the characteristics of As distribution in the contaminated sediments. Principal component analysis indicated As in the fine grain fraction and redox potential developed in the sediment contributed more significantly in controlling the concentration of dissolved As in the sediment interstitial water. It appeared that precipitation-dissolution reaction of As taken place in the sediment involved the fine grain solid phase and occurred actively at redox transition zone at which it changed significantly and the concentrations of dissolved As were high.

Abstract

Penelitian pengembangan ini menghasilkan Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik Berbasis Problem Solving dan menggunakan software Robocompass sebagai media untuk simulasi. Tujuan dari pengembangan ini adalah menghasilkan lembar kerja peserta didik yang dapat memberikan pengalaman baru pada siswa dengan menggunakan keterampilan ICT menggunakan software Robocompass. Model pengembangan menggunakan model ADDIE yang dikembangkan oleh Dick and Carey. Tahapan dari model ADDIE adalah Analisis, Desain, Pengembangan, Implementasi, dan Evaluasi. Hasil dari penelitian pengembangan menunjukkan bahwa produk valid dan adanya aktivitas siswa, hal ini dapat dilihat dari skor lembar aktivitas siswa yaitu 66,45% dan adanya efek setelah menggunakan produk berdasarkan hasil post-test yaitu 87,10%. Sehingga produk dapat digunakan oleh guru dan siswa di SMP, khususnya pada materi system koordinat kartesius di kelas VIII SMP.Kata Kunci : Problem Solving, Robocompass, Sistem Koordinat Kartesius, Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik

Abstract

Limbah industri tahu dapat menimbulkan pencemaran yang cukup berat karena mengandung polutan organik yang cukup tinggi, jika langsung dibuang ke badan air, maka akan menurunkan daya dukung lingkungan. Sehingga industri tahu memerlukan suatu pengolahan limbah yang bertujuan untuk mengurangi resiko beban pencemaran yang ada. Metode yang dapat diterapkan yaitu dengan memanfaatkan media tumbuhan yang merupakan salah satu metode yang cukup sederhana dan ramah lingkungan. Adapun jenis tumbuhan yang digunakan yaitu Hydrilla verticillata yang merupakan tanaman air. Pengolahan limbah menggunakan tanaman sebagai media penyerap limbah disebut juga dengan metode biofiltrasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Hydrilla verticillata terhadap parameter BOD, COD, dan pH. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk menentukan perlakuan terbaik yang memberikan pengaruh signifikan terhadap kadar BOD, COD, dan pH pada limbah cair tahu. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) faktorial dengan dua faktor, yaitu : perbedaan jumlah tanam Hydrilla verticillata dan perbedaan konsentrasi limbah cair tahu. Sampel yang diambil dalam penelitian ini adalah limbah cair industri tahu yang berlokasi di Bagan Pete Kecamatan Alam Barajo. Sedangkan tanaman yang digunakan yaitu Hydrilla verticillata yang diambil di kawasan muaro sebo, kabupaten Muaro jambi. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengambilan sampel adalah teknik purposive sampling,. Hasil Penelitian pemberian perlakuan Hydrilla verticillata dengan konsentrasi limbah cair tahu mempengaruhi karakteristik limbah cair tahu yang ditunjukkan pada pengamatan BOD, COD, dan pH. Secara umum perlakuan terbaik yaitu pada perlakuan P1K1 (Hydrilla 200g ; 1% konsentrasi limbah tahu) dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lainnya, dengan kandungan BOD dan COD terendah serta pH bersifat netral.
