Abstract

The success of Public Relations work in Private University depends on the public relations strategy in building the relationship with the media. For knowing how effective PR strategy is in building the relationship with the media, A research has been done with 10 respondents ( 10 Private Universities in Central Java ) by using descriptive qualitative approach and direct observation. There are two relationship models that have been found from this research, they are “ Imbalanced Commensalisms Relationship “ ( for PR’s relationship with the media institution ) and “ Harmonious Mutualism Relationship “ ( for PR’s relationship with the Journalist).

Abstract

Radio merupakan salah satu media massa yang populer untuk penyampaian informasi dari masa ke masa, termasuk dalam era digitalisasi pada saat ini. Hal ini disebabkan karena radio memiliki tiga kekuatan yang tidak dimiliki oleh media lain, yaitu mobilitas tinggi, realitas, dan kesegaran, termasuk dalam era digitalisasi pada saat ini. Kekuatan inilah yang membuat radio tidak ditinggalkan oleh pendengarnya, termasuk Radio Suara Salatiga. Berdasarkan latar belakang diatas, tulisan ini memiliki tujuan untuk strategi komunikasi yang lakukan radio Suara Salatiga dalam era digitalisasi untuk mempertahankan loyalitas pendengar. Dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, ada 3 hasil yang diperoleh dari tulisan yang dijelaskan pada artikel ini. Yang pertama, dalam menghadari era digital, radio Suara Salatiga melakukan konvergensi media melalui siaran streaming serta dengan menggunakan media sosial seperti Facebook, Website dan Instagram. Kedua, Loyalitas dengan pendengar dilakukan melalui  jumpa pendengar, menyapa pendengar setia, serta memberian perhatian kepada komunitas pendengar. Ketiga, strategi komunikasi dilakukan dengan perencanaan yang dimulai dengan riset sampai dengan evaluasi

Abstract

The purpose of this research is find a model literacy a medium for elementary school students by the use of the interactive multimedia-based wisdom of local community in Salatiga. It uses qualitative method and ethnography communication approach. The data collection was done through observation and in-depth interviews with cultural and teachers primary schools in Salatiga. The results show that 1) The Local wisdom of Salatiga community has been applied in forms of appreciation, cooperation and tolerance based on the teachings of Raden Mas Said. 2) This local wisdom can be used as a basis for media literacy 3) There are two models of literacy media based on local knowledge, i.e., in the form of informal communication done by teachers and parents, and in the form of education through games. The game with Salatiga City setting and with figures of Wales and Asia as symbols of that tolerance is the local wisdom of Salatiga community which will be used as learning media in schools. This research contributes to provide media literacy model by using interactive multimedia  based on local wisdom of the community in Salatiga.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that is well-know of its diverse ethnicities, languages, and local wisdom. The nation's potential, however, has gradually been threatened by globalization. Globalization was deemed responsible for not only the socio-cultural and local wisdom crisis but also the spread of consumptive behavior in society, including among adolescents. "Narimo Ing Pandum" (NIP) is one of the Indonesian local wisdom that is useful to minimize the problem. However, it has started to be abandoned, including in Solo and Yogyakarta, as the cities of Javanese cultural centers. This paper attempted to construct the identity of Solonese adolescents within NIP. A qualitative research method and an ethnographic approach were used. The research found 1) how the adolescent defined the characteristic of self with NIP, and 2) that NIP is an active deed of the person. The details of the results are discussed further in the paper.

Abstract

The social movement that strongly opposed the construction of cement plant in Sukolilo, Pati, Central Java constitutes a unique social movement. This movement, which is known as protest action, was conducted in a non violent way. One of the ways to embrace people in Sukolilo is by using communication strategy, called as ‘gethok tular’. This is a communication strategy based on local wisdom owned by Samin community. In its growth, gethok tular has formed communication pattern in Samin’s social movement. The communication pattern of gethok tular is in the form of informal communication. This paper was based on the result of constructivist research using ethnography of communication approach. Direct and in-depth interviews were employed to collect data.

Abstract

One of the assets of culture in Indonesia is Baroah culture from Dayak Kanayatn, which located in Sompak village. Thanksgiving and respect to the god are the expressions from the Baroah culture, which is done from generation to generation. The expression of each culture, constructs the identity of a society that influences other people's perceptions of the community and the area where they are, and has an impact on the image of the region. Based on this perspective, the purpose of this paper is constructs the identity of Sompak village people from Baroah culture, as a strategy to build the image of the Landak district.This paper is based on the results of research conducted using qualitative methods and ethnographic approaches, as well as in-depth interviews and observations to the head of the Sompak sub-district customary council, the head of the Sompak village traditional council and the head of the Sompak village farmers. The result of this paper are : a). Baroah culture is a thanksgiving to Jubata for the rice harvest, health and avoiding disaster and in it there is a Nyangahatn ritual that contains prayers and teaches us to respect customs, traditions and especially Jubata, because everything that humans have comes from God, b). Identity The people of Sompak Village made an image as a society that holds into tradition.

Abstract

Information about COVID-19 became an urgency for every individuals in this pandemic situation. Unfortunately, not all of the information were told in the appropriate communication strategy, it raised some unwanted impacts, such as fear and anger. Pace, Paterson, and Burnett, stated that communication strategy has three main purposes. This paper tried to dig up and describe the communication strategy of Salatiga City Government in their effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Salatiga. The results are first, the informations about COVID-19 are delivered with video, poster, and others. Second, the strategy used gave impacts on changes in affective, cognitive and behavior. Third, this strategy could be made in a communication strategy model which emphasized in the source credibility, clarity of content, and interesting medias. The research revealed that this strategy hadn’t built a full awareness of the society, one of the causes was the lack of even information delivered to the Salatiga society. Therefore, Salatiga City Government’s communication strategy could be improved in order to be an effective communication strategy.

Abstract

Majenang merupakan kota kecamatan di kota Cilacap yang terletak di ujung paling barat dan berbatasan dengan Jawa Barat. Letak geografis ini membuat budaya yang dimiliki masyarakat Majenang adalah percampuran antara budaya Jawa dan Sunda. Akibatnya, membawa dampak pada komunikasi antarbudaya yang terjadi, termasuk proses komunikasi dalam pelayanan kesehatan yang ada di RSU Raffa, Majenang.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui strategi apa yang digunakan oleh dokter kepada pasien yang berbeda budaya di Rumah Sakit Umum Raffa selama proses pelayanan kesehatan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa pertama, proses komunikasi antarbudaya yang dilakukan oleh dokter dan pasien terjadi dalam bentuk komunikasi verbal dan non verbal. Kedua, Hambatan yang terjadi dalam komunikasi antarbudaya ini adalah hambatan bahasa, persepsi dan budaya. Abstract

Personal branding menjadi urgensi bagi setiap individu pada saat ini. Pada era digital ini, media massa dan media baru (termasuk Instagram) mempunyai peran sangat besar dalam membentuk personal branding seseorang, termasuk mahasiswa yang ada di Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana (UKSW). Berdasarkan latar belakang ini, maka tujuan dari tulisan ini adalah untuk mendiskripsikan strategi personal branding yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa UKSW melalui instagram. Tulisan ini didasarkan dari hasil penelitian yang dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan desain penelitian analisis isi. Hasil dari penelitian tersebut adalah, pertama, perilaku mahasiswa Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana dalam menggunakan instagram. Kedua, mahasiswa Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana yang sudah melakukan strategi personal branding di Instagram dengan pemilihan busana, mengunggah prestasi, dan menggunakan keterangan foto yang dapat memotivasi dan mahasiswa yang belum menerapkan strategi personal branding. Personal branding is an urgency for every individual at this time. In this digital era, mass media and new media (including Instagram) have a very big role in shaping a person's personal branding, including students at Satya Wacana Christian University (SWCU). Based on this background, the purpose of this paper is to describe the personal branding strategy that SWCU students are doing through Instagram. This paper is based on the results of research conducted with a qualitative approach and content analysis research design. The results of this study are, first, the behavior of Satya Wacana Christian University students in using Instagram. Second, Satya Wacana Christian University students who have implemented a personal branding strategy on Instagram by selecting fashion, uploading achievements, and using photo captions that can motivate and students who have not implemented a personal branding strategy.

Abstract

Satya Wacana Christian University is famously known as mini Indonesia, this is because students who pursue their education in this campus come from various regions, tribe and ethnicities in this country. On one hand this condition brings diversity that characterizes Indonesia. On the other hand, diversity requires the existence of mutual adjustment, adaptation and respect. Therefore, understanding how each ethnic group adapts becomes an urgency. In Satya Wacana Christian University, from the various tribes and ethnicities, Papuans and Malukuese ethnics are two fairly large ethnic groups that are in this university. Through a qualitative descriptive approach, this paper seeks to express acts of communication by migrants (especially Papuans and Malukuese ethnics) when adapting in cultures. The results of this research are divided into 3 phases, first phase or the first year of the informant or students from ethnic outsiders still huddle or socialize with his group, the second stage or second year they already want to open up more to blend in with other groups, and the third stage is a stage where they're really able to master themselves and adapt to new environments.
