Abstract

This paper aims to investigate the feasibility and viability of the on-grid solar power generation at the university canteen by using two alternative methods. The first method uses the actual daily load as the basis of the calculation for the reliability of the system, whilst, the second method uses the available area as the basis of the calculation of the power generation. This research analyses the technical feasibility and the economic viability of each possible configuration involved in the comparison process. The analysis shows that the on-grid configuration set by using the maximum available area for power generation provides the highest economic viability. The system may contribute to nearly 68.98% of the working day energy consumption and nearly 182.18% of the consumption during the weekend. The total energy generation is expected to reach the potential of 16.063kWh annually.

Abstract

Penelitian peningkatan efisiensi energi selalu menjadi salah satu riset yang terus berkembang, termasuk pada sistem penerangan. Tidak sedikit sistem penerangan pada ruang perkuliahan saat ini yang nilainya masih dibawah standar. Sistem penerangan merupakan salah satu faktor pendukung penting kegiatan perkuliahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mensimulasikan peningkatan efisiensi energi serta tingkat penerangan melalui analisis arus pencahayaan pada ruang perkuliahan Gedung K FTUI dengan dua tahapan. Pertama, melakukan pengukuran iluminasi semua ruang kuliah. Selanjutnya, mengevaluasi tingkat pencahayaan dengan analisis arus cahaya pada software dialux. Skenario yang digunakan yaitu penggantian jenis lampu yang dipakai dengan LED dan perubahan jumlah titik lampu yang terpasang. Hasil simulasi menunjukkan penggunaan lampu LED dengan arus cahaya sebesar 2500 lumen efektif meningkatkan tingkat pencahayaan ruang. Selain itu terjadi peningkatan efisiensi energi sebesar 40% dengan adanya penggantian lampu dari sebelumnya 2.240 kWh menjadi 1.339,2 kWh.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the disturbance's characteristics induced by the induction cooker of the On-Grid PV System that is installed in the MRPQ at the Faculty of Engineering Universitas Indonesia (FTUI). In addition, this research is also to find out the behavior of the induction cooker on a frequency range of 9-15kHz. The load was connected to Switching Mode Power Supply (SMPS) that connected to the utility grid. Furthermore, the utilization of inverter that used SMPS technology may generate disturbance mostly at high frequency from 9 kHz to 150 kHz. Disturbance generated by each tool from the equipment in the PV system and household appliances may also affect each other in its operation. However, research and standardization regarding the effect of induction cooker disturbances on the PV system for frequency ranges of 9-150 kHz are still limited. Therefore, this research focuses on observing behavior and the characteristics of a disturbance generated by the induction cooker. There are two induction cookers investigated, brand A and B. The results show that the induction cooker generates disturbance at a frequency of 9-150 kHz, and the increased power used at the load will also increase the disturbance value. Furthermore, brand A has a more significant average incremental gradient compared to brand B induction cookers of 260% or 17.05mV / W for brand A and 6.58mV / W for brand B.Keywords: power quality, disturbance characteristics, induction cooker, on-grid photovoltaic, 9-150 kHz

Abstract

The electrification system on the Jabodetabek Electric Train uses a direct current system of 1500 VDC. The 1,500 VDC overhead system is supplied from the traction substation which is equipped with a silicon rectifier component. This rectifier component can produce harmonics that can distort the medium voltage source of 20 kV PLN and in the long run, can cause damage to electrical equipment. This study aims to determine the value of the harmonic voltage and current and to design a harmonic filter on the KRL traction substation. The results of harmonic distortion measurements on 20kV / 1.2kV cubicle at traction substations with PQA show a maximum THD-v of 3.43% (according to IEEE standards) and a maximum THD-i of 94.86%.  The maximum TDD value is 0.73% (according to the IEEE standard), but the 5th, 7th and 11th IHD-i exceed the IEEE standard, with values of 70.04%, 43.38%, and 21.5%. The design of harmonic filters using ETAP 12.6.0 shows the value of THD-i dropped to 0.00%.

Abstract

Every year Indonesia experiences an increase in the number of electricity customers. However, there are still many areas that do not yet have electricity supply or have frequent disturbances. Therefore, we need a generator set as the main electricity supply or as a backup for these areas. Natural gas can be used as generator fuel because of its abundant availability and is more environmentally friendly. However, the availability of gasfueled generators in Indonesia is still very rare, so that additional equipment such as regulators, converter kits, and air mixing equipment for gas can be used on gasoline generators. Due to this background and its potential, testing is carried out to determine the performance of the modified generator set when using natural gas fuels. The method used is to compare engine performance by varying the value of the generator's input pressure, which is 0.5 and 0.03 bar. The results observed were the SFC value, power quality, exhaust gas temperature, and the noise level produced by the generator. The results of this test are that the voltage and frequency generated is still within the specified normal limits, the exhaust gas temperature and the noise level generated when the input pressure is 0.5 bar and 0.03 bar are relatively the same, and the SFC value generated when the input pressure is 0.5 bar is 5.7-25% smaller than the SFC value at 0.03 bar input pressure.

Abstract

One example of the application of new renewable energy that is currently developing is solar power plant. Based on data from Rencana Usaha Penyediaan Tenaga Listrik (RUPTL) PT PLN (Persero) 2019-2028, it is stated that the potential of solar energy in Indonesia is 207,898 MW (4.80 kWh / m2 / day) and only 78.5 MW of capacity installed in Indonesia. In this study, a 5 MWp solar power plant was interconnected with a 20 kV medium-voltage network of Area X as one of the renewable energy applications in Indonesia. Interconnection studies include power flow analysis and three phase short circuit fault analysis. In the analysis of the power flow results obtained that the Solar Power Plant system is capable of supplying the load requirements to the system of 5,000 kW active power. It was also found that interconnection of solar power plant with the system resulted in an increase in the voltage level of each bus in the system by 0.08 to 1.41%, as well as changing the percentage of component loading by 0.01% -93.01%. The results of the three-phase short-circuit fault analysis show that the interconnection of the solar power plant system has a short-circuit fault current value of 5.70-7.01 kA, so the fault current value for the whole bus is still far below the value of the short-circuit current capacity of the protection system's short circuit worth 25 kA. The results of the interconnection study showed that interconnection of a 5 MWp solar power plant system with a 20 kV medium voltage network Area X can be carried out.

Abstract

Arc faults are a fire-safety risk in both AC (alternating current) and DC wiring, but reliable detection of arc faults and determining the appropriate response is particularly difficult in DC plug-load circuits. This study will discuss the impact of impedance on arc interference characteristics in DC low voltage systems. Experiments were conducted involving accidents that increasingly occur using the arc chamber as a means of experimenting with independent variables including cable cross-sectional area and the number of fibers and control variables will consist of currents and voltages using devices using a Picoscope. In the analysis obtained values of the conductor resistance affect the characteristics of electric arcs. The smaller the value of the conductor resistance, the greater the value of the arc current produced. This is consistent with the values obtained from the study, when the smallest conductor resistance of 0.036 Ω obtained the highest value at the current value and electric arc power of 20.57 A and 19.43 W at the cross section of the conductor 1.5 mm2 with 24 fibers.

Abstract

In industrial companies, the electricity system is an important part of production where a good and standard electrical system increases production performance. So that the system is in accordance with the standards, then an electrical system evaluation is carried out. Evaluation is done by simulating power flow and short circuit using ETAP PowerStation 12.6.0 software. The results of the power flow analysis show that the voltage drop on the medium voltage network ranges from 0.04% - 0.05% and low voltage ranges from 0% - 3.36%, which means the system complies with the SPLN 72 1987 and PUIL 2011. Analysis of power flow shows a decrease in the percentage of loading of cables and transformers by 2.34% - 15.74% and in emergency conditions the generator supplies electricity with a percentage of loading of 44.92% when under normal load. Power flow analysis also shows an improvement in power factor from 0.778 lagging to 0.975 lagging. Following Presidential Regulation No. 8 2011, companies do not need to pay additional fees. Short circuit analysis shows there is a breaker equipment whose capacity is below the short circuit current so that it can suffer damage. Based on the analysis of power flow, the electrical design of PT. Aqua Golden Mississippi is in accordance with PLN standards. And based on a short circuit analysis, the problematic breaker equipment must be replaced to reduce damage.

Abstract

On April 22nd, 2016, Indonesia signed the Paris Agreement, which goal is that the world will enter the net-zero emission phase in 2060. To support that, it is better to increase the solar rooftop capacity have been installed. In this study, there are some variations, such as the capacity of solar rooftops based on load profile and installed power (75%, 90%, and 100%), variation of solar module placement, and variation of solar module types. The result shows that to fulfill the load needs, it will need 40 kW of inverter capacity and 49.5 kWp of PV capacity with a total module of 113 pcs. Based on the solar module type simulations result, the 440 Wp B – brand has the highest performance result among the others. Uprating solar rooftop capacity will cost around Rp.1,138,529,870 for the investment, and the payback period is around 18 years. This study finds that uprating the capacity of rooftop solar panel can reduce electricity tariffs and increase energy production. Moreover, the results of the economic analysis revealed that the initial cost, interest rate, and electricity price will play crucial roles in determining whether to launch a project or not.

Abstract

Krisis energi listrik yang terjadi di Indonesia beberapa tahun lalu membuat pemerintah harus membuat upaya kongkrit untuk mengatasinya. Penggunaan lampu hemat energi menjadi upaya yang sangat efektif sebagai alternatif penyelesaian masalah. Penelitian ini menganalisis perbandingan kinerja antara lampu LED, CFL, dan pijar dengan tujuan mendapatkan jenis lampu yang efisien dan hemat energi pada sistem penerangan kantor. Ada dua metode pengukuran yang dilakukan pada studi ini yaitu pengukuran intensitas cahaya dan efisiensi kinerja lampu. Pengukuran intensitas cahaya bertujuan untuk mngetahui besar efikasi masing-masing lampu dimana didapat nilai efikasi terbesar ada pada LED dengan 137,369 lumen/watt, diikuti CFL dengan 58,681 lumen/watt dan pijar dengan 11,258 lumen/watt. Pada pengukuran kinerja lampu didapat output berupa daya, faktor daya, dan nilai distorsi harmoniknya. Besar konsumsi daya terkecil ada pada LED dengan 7,283 watt, pada CFL sebesar 17,458 watt, dan pada pijar sebesar 92,1 watt. Faktor daya (PF) hasil pengukuran menunjukan pada LED, CFL dan pijar masing-masing sebesar 0,855; 0,928; dan 0,995. Selain itu didapat juga nilai harmonik arus dan tegangannya dimana untuk harmonik tegangannya, besar maksimum yang terdapat pada orde ke-3 yaitu sebesar 1,72% untuk LED dan 1,79% untuk CFL. Untuk nilai TDD (Total Demand Distortion) yaitu sebesar 1,73% untuk LED dan 0,73% untuk CFL. Untuk lampu pijar nilai harmonik sangat kecil sehingga dapat diabaikan.
