Abstract

Two endophytic fungal phytases is isolated from leaf, stem and root fragments collected from soybean and identified as Rhizoctonia sp. and Fusarium verticillioides. The phytase production was induced by phytate in medium used. The crude preparations were used in subsequent characterisation studies, pH and temperature optima and compared to other phytases tested, and is thus a promosing candidate for animal feed applications. This particular phytase retains activity over a wide range pH value characteristic of the digestive tract and could conceivably be more suited to increasingly hinger feed processing temperatures being today, than corresponding phytase from Aspergillus niger.   Key words: Endophytic fungal phytase, soybean, Rhizoctonia sp., Fusarium verticillioides, characterisation

Abstract

Evaluation of slaughter chicken technique that observated from halal food and food safety in market in five subdictricts of Kabupaten Tanah Datar was studied. The experiment was used t-test to compare  halal slaugtering and bacteria contamination. The results showed that the place expedience was not significantly different between slaughtering place in market. The halal slaugtering practice was not significantly different for those ten places of slaughtering. TPC contamination for all slaughtering place was underneath from standard BMCM of SNI (?1 x 106cfu/g). The Coliform contamination for all slaughtering place was over than 1x102cfu/g, except for Sungai Tarab subdictricts. This evaluation of slaughtering place in markets showed that all slaughtering place did not yet implemented the good slaughtering practice and good sanitation and hygiene practice totally.Key words: slaugtering in market, halal slaughtering, TPC, Coliform

Abstract

The effects of black tea extract on mice fertility was studied in twenty four (n=24) sexually  matured male mice. Mices were randomly divide into four (4) groups of six (6) mices per group. The experimental groups ware treated as follows: Group I treated with no received treatment, Group II with 1,25 %, Group III with 2,5 %, and Group IV with 5 % black tea extract. The extract was orally administered 1 ml/100 g body weigh for 35 days. The epididymis weight, sperm count, motility, viability and normal sperm morphology changes  were determined. The epididymis weight, sperm count, motility, viability and normal sperm were decreased. Treatment with highest dose 5 % of the extract resulted in a significant decreased when compared to the control. Result showed that black tea extract has potential for use as antifertility for animal in future.Key words: black tea extract, mice fertility

Abstract

This study aims to provide general information about the survival and fecundity of Aedes aegypti in suboptimal habitats based on relevant research articles collected from 26 journal sources. A combination of three to five keywords was used to obtain the data. This journal is obtained from four electronic data bases, namely PubMed, Medline, Scopus and Google Schoolar, which were collected during 2017. The data were obtained by identifying, screening, matching the criteria that were intended (eligibility) and reviewing those articles. There were 83 journals identified and 56 journals reviewed. In addition, there were two local journals and 52 international ones. Journal review results show that larvae are able to live and complete their development into adulthood in suboptimal habitats. Stagnant sewer water that is clear and septic tanks are suboptimal larval habitats. Phosphorus is a major limiting factor in the presence of larvae in suboptimal habitats. Thus, manipulating the phosphorus content in ditches and septic tanks is one of the vector control strategies.
