Abstract

Efforts to prevent viral infection are a shared responsibility of all Indonesian citizens, including academics. Prevention starts from keeping a distance, wearing a mask, and washing hands. Another alternative to washing hands is to use a hand sanitizer. This community service activity program aims to educate and assist the community in preventing infection with the Covid-19 virus based on local culture through assisting students in making hand sanitizers made from local products, namely clove flower stem extract, and distributing them to the community. The methods used in this activity are production, product distribution, and education (lectures). The team will distribute the product to the Khairun University campus area and six schools in Ternate city. This community service program's result is 300 bottles of clove flower stalk extract and distributed to the public. In general, the community's response to the hand sanitizer product from clove flower stalk extract is that the public is enthusiastic and has good comments on this hand sanitizer product

Abstract

Pada sosialisasi dan pelaksanaan KTSP sejak tahun 2006, telah diterapkan konsep penilaian autentik yang didalamnya termasuk juga penilaian kinerja (Performance assesment) sebagai pilihan untuk dikembangkan oleh guru dalam menilai proses dan hasil belajar. Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan menyarankan bahwa pembelajaran harus berorientasi pada potensi, perkembangan, kebutuhan dan kepentingan peserta didik dan lingkungannya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Pengembangan bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan menghasilkan produk berupa instrumen penilaian kinerja (Performance assessment) yang berbasis nilai karakter khususnya matapelajaran Sains di SMP kota Ternate. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa pengembangan model assesmen kinerja berbasis karakter diketahui valid dengan nilai total 85,7% maka secara umum produk pengembangan model assesmen kinerja berbasis karakter ini layak digunakan. Hasil revisi rubrik penilaian ini dapat digunakan sebagai alternative bagi guru untuk dikembangkan sebagai model penilaian autentik misalnya pada penilaian prosedur pengamatan dalam pelaksanaan praktikum.

Abstract

Model pembelajaran Inquiry Learning merupakan model pembelajaran yang menekankan pada siswa untuk menemukan sendiri permasalahan yang diberikan oleh guru. Penelitian ini bertujuan: (1) untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran inkuiri terhadap kemampuan metakognitif siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 4 Kota Ternate (2) untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran inkuiri terhadap kemampuan metakognitif siswa kelas VII SMP. model pembelajaran inkuiri terhadap hasil belajar (3) untuk mengetahui pengaruh metakognisi terhadap hasil belajar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari dua kelas yaitu kelas VII-4 dan kelas VII-5 dengan jumlah siswa 62 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah angket metakognisi dan tes hasil belajar. Analisis data menggunakan uji normalitas dan homogenitas berbantuan SPSS, sedangkan pengujian hipotesis menggunakan uji Anacova dan regresi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran inkuiri terhadap kemampuan kognitif dengan taraf signifikansi 0,000 > 0,05 (2) terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran inkuiri terhadap hasil belajar dengan taraf signifikansi nilai 0,000 > 0,05 dan (3) terdapat pengaruh metakognisi terhadap hasil belajar dengan nilai taraf signifikan 0,001 > 0,05.

Abstract

Virtual laboratories can provide real learning experiences through computer-aided simulations and activities. Virtual laboratory is rapidly developing its use in science learning because it is proven to provide significant benefits to the process and results of science learning during the pandemic. The limitations of laboratory facilities in genetics learning at the unkhair Biology Education Study program have encouraged the development of virtual practicum strategies and their use in genetic learning with modified free inquiry strategies on the topic of the structure and function of genetic material and reproduction of genetic material. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of virtual laboratories based on student perceptions of the use of virtual laboratory applications and to describe and compare these perceptions with the use of laboratory reality and relevant previous research results. There are five aspects of perception surveyed, namely innovation, motivation, effectiveness, benefits, and presentation of practical procedures. This research method uses a quasi-experimental research design for the characteristics and effectiveness of using virtual laboratories and real laboratories in the Genetics course at the Biology Education Study Program, Khairun University, Ternate on the topic of DNA isolation, chromosomes and mitosis. The results of this study indicate that: the characteristics of Blended Learning practicum in the Genetics course in 4th semester students of Biology study program are: 1) instruction-based practicum; 2) practicum based on data collection and reporting of practicum results; 3) practicum based on proof of concept. The effectiveness of the implementation of genetics practicum in laboratory reality and virtual laboratories based on the perception of student responses is more likely to choose reality laboratories than virtual laboratories. The effectiveness of the implementation of genetic practicum based on the results of the practicum report is known to be not significantly different between the results of the practicum in reality and in the virtual laboratory.

Abstract

Dried fish from fish Julung (Hyporhamphus affinis) is one type of fish food products that are found in the traditional market of Ternate city. This product is commonly known as fish toreh. The main problem of this product is storage packaging by using an open bamboo set that can be contaminated by various microbes. The purpose of this study was to inventory and identification of contaminant molds isolated from dried fish of H. affinis on a 17-day storage period. The research was conducted in Mathematic and Natural Science laboratory by using dried fish smoke (toreh) from H. affinis obtained from traditional market in Ternate city. Isolation and identification of molds using standard microbiological procedures. Media growth of mold using Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA). Several genus and species of mold found as contaminant mold are Aspergillus spp., Eurotium spp., Torula spp., Cladosporium spp., Polypaecilum pisce and Catenaria fuliginea.

Abstract

This study aimed to detect and evaluate the genetic mutation from mutagenized soybean by RAPD markers. Soybean seeds of “Grobogan” variety were treated with two different concentrations of EMS (0.5% and 1%) and three incubation times (4, 6 and 8 h). DNA whole-genome was isolated from young leaf seedling with the Qiagen DNeasy Plant Mini Kit. Twenty OPA primers (OPA-1 to OPA-20) were used for DNA amplification. The results showed that EMS treatments successfully generated genetic variation in soybean, which indicated by high values of PIC, EMR, and MI. RAPD primers that effective to detect the mutation were OPA-2, OPA-07, OPA-10, OPA-11, OPA-12, OPA-13, OPA-14, OPA-15, OPA-16, OPA-18 and OPA-20. The band expression of those primers was exhibited a stronger intensity along with increasing of EMS concentration and incubation time used in this study. Treatment of 0.5% EMS in 6 hours incubation was successfully generated soybean mutants with the lowest genetic similarity compared to the wild-type. Thus, this study provides a new approach to generate genetic variability in soybean and has the potential to improve for soybean breeding program.

Abstract

Penelitian Tindakan Kelas tentang Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah (Problem Base Learning) Untuk Meningkatkan Aktivitas Ilmiah dan Hasil Belajar Siswa SMPN 1 Kota Ternate. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, mengacu pada model Kemmis dan Taggart (dalam Depdiknas, 1999) yang terdiri atas 4 tahap, meliputi: perencanaan (plan), pelaksanaan tindakan (action), observasi (observation), dan refleksi (reflection). Pelaksanaan penelitian ini terdiri dari 2 siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: 1) Penerapan pembelajaran berbasis masalah dapat meningkatkan aktivitas ilmiah siswa kelas 7 SMPN 1 Kota Ternate pada konsep Ekosistem sebesar 0,5%.; 2) Penerapan pembelajaran berbasis masalah dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa kelas 7 SMPN 1 Kota Ternate pada konsep Ekosistem.

Abstract

AbstrakProtokol dan metode sederhana, efisien untuk isolasi  DNA genom tanaman durian   yang banyak mengandung phenol dan residu polisakarida telah dihasilkan. Pada penelitian ini, digunakan  protokol isolasi DNA tumbuhan  dengan metode CTAB yang dimodifikasi sebagai protokol yang  efisien untuk membuang polisakarida, phenol  dan  lendir yang sangat melimpah pada tanaman durian. Obyek penelitian ini  terdiri dari protocol CTAB yang dimodifikasi  tahap inkubasi dan presipitasi  pemurnian DNA genom dari phenol dan polisakarida. Perbandingan 2  protokol  isolasi  DNA durian dengan CTAB standard an CTAB modifikasi  menunjukkan bahwa metode  CTAB modifikasi menghasilkan  whole genom durian cukup murni rata rata 1,99 dan berhasil diamplifikasi  dengan PCR-RAPD.Kata kunci:  isolasi, DNA, polisakarida, CTAB, modifikasi, . AbstractThe simple and efficient  method for genomic DNA isolation protochol from durian , its woody fruit crops containing high polysaccharide levels has been described here. In the present study, using modified CTAB for plant DNA isolation protocols were studied for removing the highly concentrated polysaccharides from genomic DNA of woody fruit crops.This method involves the modified CTAB   at the incubate  and precipitate procedure employing DNA purification  step to remove polysaccharides and phenol residu.  Compared with the two  studied DNA  isolation protocols of  durian using standart CTAB and modified CTAB  the everage yield  high quality DNA whole genom is 1,99 purity and DNA was suitable for PCR and RAPD analyses.Keyword: isolation, DNA,  polysaccharides,  phenol residu, CTAB

Abstract

Local wisdom-oriented learning in elementary schools in the city of Ternate has not been implemented optimally. In general, schools have implemented thematic learning that should contain local wisdom. Ethnopedagogy is the actualization of learning oriented to the cultivation of local wisdom values. Ethnopedagogic aproach in elementary schools need to be implemented through strategies and innovative learning media that are able to attract students' attention to understand and apply local wisdom. This study aims to integrate Cloves as an identity flora in North Maluku in the implementation of an ethnopedagogic aproach at elementary schools in Ternate. This study uses a qualitative approach with a mixed method of research instruments consisting of observation sheets and questionnaires. Data analysis technique with concurrent triangulation strategy. The results showed that the ethnopedagogical approach implemented through learning activities using cloves as a spice study object in North Maluku was an effective alternative to local wisdom-based learning applied in elementary schools in Ternate city. Through the integration of cloves in an ethnopedagogical approach, it can improve scientific literacy skills and students' learning motivation. This study recommends that the ethnopedagogical approach can be implemented with innovative learning activities based on local wisdom.

Abstract

Program kemitraan masyarakat hasil implementasi penelitian unggulan perguruan tinggi tentang pradesain biobriket dari limbah tempurung kenari berbasis riset kajian nilai kalor dan variasi perekat. Informasi dan produk pengembangan alat yang di desain peneliti perlu disosialisasikan kepada masyarakat di kota Ternate. Hasil analisis sosialisasi transfer teknologi pembuatan briket tempurung kenari dan pengembangan varian produk briket berkorelasi dengan hasil analisis preferensi konsumen terhadap produk briket tempurung kenari. Secara umum masyarakat mitra dapat menerima teknologi pembuatan briket tempurung kenari dan produk briket memiliki potensi untuk dikembangkan berdasarkan analisis preferensi konsumen terhadap produk briket. Briket tempurung kenari dapat dikembangkan oleh masyarakat kelurahan Tarau pulau Ternate. Produk biobriket tempurung kenari dan variasi produk briket aroma terapi rempah dan briket anti nyamuk memiliki potensi ekonomi dikembangkan menjadi usaha bisnis berdasarkan faktor tingkat teknologi yang mudah, ketersediaan bahan baku, tingkat kesukaan masyarakat.
