Abstract

This research aims to develop learning media in the form of a virtual laboratory for practicum observing protists and to find out how to develop procedures, their practicality and their effectiveness. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) research with a 4 D research design, namely: define, design, develop, and disseminate,/1 however this research was only carried out to the develop stage due to researcher limitations. The subjects in the research were 30 class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Perbaungan. The research instruments used are validation sheets from media experts and material experts to measure the validity of the virtual laboratory, response sheets from field practitioners (Teachers) and students to measure the practicality of the virtual Laboratory. The research results show that the virtual laboratory has an appropriate category based on the percentage of validity by media expert validators of 80.33%, material expert validators of 98.66%. The virtual laboratory was declared very feasible based on the percentage obtained from student responses in phase I product trials of 92.71%, phase II product trials of 86.58%, and the percentage based on teacher responses was 100%. Recommendations for future researchers and teachers to develop a three-dimensional virtual laboratory to provide a more real experience for students when simulating a practicum.

Abstract

This research aims to determine which bacteria are capable of fixing nitrogen and dissolving phosphate in liquid rubber waste in Perdamean Village, Labuhanbatu Regency. The research method used was the description method with bacterial isolation techniques, then testing was carried out, namely the nitrogen fixation ability test and the phosphate solvent ability test. The results of the research showed that bacterial isolates capable of fixing nitrogen were found to have high absorbance values, namely 1,340 ABS. In the phosphate solubilizing ability test, there were 2 isolates that were unable to dissolve phosphate. In conclusion, isolating nitrogen and phosphate fixing bacteria in liquid rubber waste is a way to prevent pollution and destruction of the ecosystem in the environment. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effect of the jigsaw type cooperative learning example on student learning outcomes in the integrated respiratory system material Al-Qur’an Surah Al-An’am in class VIII MTs.S PPM Babussalam. The population in this study means all students of class VIII, totaling 108 students. The sample used was class, totaling27 students and class VIII-3 being the experimental class, totaling 27 students. Data analysis was performed using t test. What will happen is the analysis of the t-count value of 4.425> the t-table value of 2.006 which gives the effect of student learning outcomes using the jigsaw type cooperative learning example on the learning outcomes of class VIII MTs.S PPM Babussalam student. The post test result of students in the experimental class have a big effect. Holistically, students answers include good criteria.

Abstract

This research investigates the effect of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model on students' creative thinking during the digestive system learning at SMAS Brigjend Katamso II. This type of research is a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent control group design. The population of this study was all XI students at SMAS Brigjend Katamso II, which consisted of 4 classes with a total of 135 students. The research sample using the Cluster Random Sampling technique consisted of two classes: Science 2 with 34 students as the experimental class and Science 3 with 34 students as the control class. The research instrument used was a description test consisting of 4 questions to measure students' creative thinking abilities. This research hypothesis was carried out using the T-test with normal and homogeneous conditions. The results of the post-test analysis of the T test obtained tcount 4.34 and ttable 1.69, thus showing the hypothesis test results that tcount > ttable where Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. So, there is the influence of the project based learning model on the ability to think creatively about the digestive system material for class XI SMA/MA students.

Abstract

The aim of this research is the isolation and identification based on the morphological characteristics of lactic acid bacteria in the fermentation of organic waste from fruit peels. Isolation of Lactic Acid Bacteria was carried out using the spread plate method on de Man, Rogosa, and Sharpe Agar (MRSA) media. The culture was incubated at 37 °C for 48 hours. The growing colonies were observed for morphological characteristics, and bacterial Gram staining was carried out. The results of the research showed that 10 bacterial isolates were obtained from the isolation of BAL from ecoenzymes on de Man, Ragosa, and Sharpe Agar (MRSA) media, namely E-BAL 01, E-BAL 02, E-BAL O3, E-BAL 04, E-BAL 05, E-BAL 06, E-BAL 07, E-BAL 08, E-BAL 09, and E-BAL 10, and 10 isolates were characterized as Gram-positive with a bacillary cell form. In conclusion, 10 isolates were found with characteristics that supported MRSA media, namely isolates of lactic acid bacteria of the genus Lactobacillus. This is confirmed by the results of biochemical tests, namely that it is immobile, does not produce the catalase enzyme, and does not have the ability to produce gas. Abstract

This research aims to determine the genus and potential isolates of endophytic bacteria producing IAA hormone from the roots of mangrove plants in Tanjung Rejo village, Percut Sai Tuan subdistrict. The research methods used include isolating endophytic bacteria using the plant method in NA (Nutrient Agar) media then culturing them in NB (Nutrient Broth) media then adding L-tryptophan and incubating, then identification is carried out based on morphological characterization, gram staining and biochemistry. The results of the research showed that 13 isolates of endophytic bacteria were found that had the potential to produce IAA hormones ranging from 0.047-0.050 ppm which were identified as the genus Enterobacter, Pseudomonas, Bacillus, Azosprilium, Micrococcus. However, the isolates BEAM PA 2 of the genus Enterobacter and BPAM PE 6 of the genus Micrococcus had the highest value of 0.050 ppm. The conclusion from this research is that the endophytic bacteria obtained as a whole have the ability to produce the hormone IAA. Abstract

This study was undertaken to address the issues identified during preliminary research, which revealed that teachers were still using packaged books and worksheets as their teaching materials. Based on these findings, the researchers became interested in developing teaching materials in the form of encyclopedias. Encyclopedias have the advantage of being both a source of information and a teaching aid. The objective of this study was to develop a valid, practical, and effective encyclopedia on the topic of the reproductive system. The research methodology employed in this study was Research and Development (R&D), utilizing the 4-D development model, which encompasses the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. Validity, practicality, and effectiveness instruments were used as research tools, and data analysis was conducted using a Likert scale. The results revealed that the encyclopedia met the criteria for validity (as determined by 92% of teaching material experts and 83% of content experts), practicality (as reported by 95% of teachers and 84% of students), and effectiveness (as demonstrated by an increase in pretest scores from 56.22 to a posttest score of 89, resulting in an N-Gain of 0.75, with a percentage of 75%). Therefore, it can be concluded that the reproductive system encyclopedia is valid, practical, and effective, making it suitable for use in learning activities. The development of this reproductive system encyclopedia has significant implications for the learning process, particularly in terms of adopting a more comprehensive learning approach. The encyclopedia provides extensive and in-depth information, fostering a more holistic learning experience and transforming the role of the teacher into that of a facilitator who assists students in navigating and comprehending information.

Abstract

This study aims to determine students' responses to scientific literacy-based modules on regulatory system material and to determine the feasibility of scientific literacy-based modules on regulatory system material. The product development design uses the Borg & Gall model with eight stages including, potentials and problems, data collection, product design, product validation, product revision, product testing, product revision, and the final product. This research was carried out from September to December 2021 with a research sample of 35 students in class XI SMA Yayasan Nurul Islam Indonesia. The results of this study showed that the percentage met the very feasible category with the acquisition of an average score on each aspect, namely 83% by material experts, 92% by media experts, 92% by biology teachers and 93% by students. So it can be concluded that scientific literacy-based module teaching materials are very feasible to use for teaching and learning activities.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the structural composition, abundance, and morphological characterization of orchids (Orchidaceae) in the Serdang Village Forest, Tahura area, Karo Regency, North Sumatra. The method used was an exploratory survey with a quadrat plot technique using purposive sampling. A total of 12 plots measuring 10 × 10 meters were randomly placed in the study area. The results showed that 360 individual Orchidaceae plants from 21 genera were found. The structure of Orchidaceae plants was analyzed based on the Importance Value Index (IVI), with the highest value observed in Neuwiedia zollingeri (30.77%), followed by Liparis ferruginea Lindl (19.89%) and Erythrodes blumei (Lindl.) Schltr (10.80%). The species diversity index in the study area was 2.66, which is categorized as moderate. The most abundant terrestrial orchid was Neuwiedia zollingeri (33.44%), while the most abundant epiphytic orchid was Adenoncos sumatrana with an RA of 13.04%. Epiphytic orchids were mostly found on host trees in zones III and IV. Morphological characterization identified 32 orchid species with morphological variations including leaf shape, leaf tip shape, flower shape, dorsal sepal shape, petal shape, tip shape of sepal and petal, dorsal sepal color pattern, petal color pattern, and root type. Abstract

This study aims to develop a student worksheet (Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik or LKPD) based on Contextual Teaching and Learning that is valid, practical, and effective for students. The research method employed was research and development, with instruments consisting of teacher and student needs questionnaires, material and media validation sheets, practicality sheets, as well as effectiveness sheets through pretests and posttests. Data analysis included validity, practicality, and effectiveness tests. The results indicated that the developed LKPD demonstrated high validity, was practical for both teachers and students, and was effective in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills. In conclusion, the LKPD based on Contextual Teaching and Learning can serve as appropriate teaching material to foster critical thinking skills in biology concepts.
