Abstract

Introduction: The duration of recovery of consciousness in postoperative patients with general anesthesia is a common problem after the patient is transferred to the recovery room. The recovery period of patients after surgery and general anesthesia is influenced by several factors, one of which is the physical condition before anesthesia based on ASA status. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between ASA status and the recovery time of patients after surgery with general anesthesia in the recovery room. Method: The study design used a "cross-sectional" approach. The average population per month was 139 postoperative patients using general anesthesia aged 26-65 years. The sampling method used purposive sampling with 59 respondents. Determination of respondents was based on the inclusion criteria of patients undergoing elective surgery aged 26-65 years, patients who received ASA status 1 and 2. Data analysis tests used descriptive statistical tests to determine the characteristics of respondents. Results: Bivariate analysis used the Spearman rank test to determine the relationship between pre-anesthesia physical status and the recovery time of patients after surgery with general anesthesia. The results of the bivariate test of ASA physical status with a p-value of 0.000. Discussion: Pre-anesthesia physical status is related to the recovery time of patients after surgery with general anesthesia. Physical status conditions with accompanying illnesses can interfere with the anesthesia process and post-anesthesia recovery.

Abstract

The risk of death in the mother is 60% after giving birth and almost 50% of deaths during the postpartum period occur in the first 24 hours of delivery. The causes of death in postpartum mothers are bleeding, eclampsia and infection. The better the postpartum mother's knowledge, the higher the postpartum mother's self-efficacy in detecting early danger signs during the postpartum period. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between knowledge and self-efficacy regarding early detection of danger signs during the postpartum period in the Kepanjen Community Health Center Work Area. This research design uses correlational analytics with a cross sectional approach carried out on a sample of 44 respondents. This research sample was taken using a positive sampling technique. The data collection instrument used was a questionnaire. The research results show that the majority of postpartum mothers have good knowledge and high self-efficacy. The statistical test results show a significance figure of 0.000 using the Spearman Rank Test with a significance level of α > 0.05. The results of the research show that there is a significant and very strong relationship between knowledge and self-efficacy in early detection of danger signs by postpartum mothers with a coefficient value of 0.760 with a positive relationship direction. Postpartum mothers' good knowledge and high self-efficacy about the signs of the dangers of postpartum contribute significantly to postpartum mothers' ability to detect early and overcome emerging health problems.

Abstract

Background: Appendicitis is the most common cause of acute abdominal pain, typically managed through appendectomy. Postoperative pain is a major issue that affects patient recovery. Non-pharmacological interventions, such as finger hold relaxation and deep breathing techniques, are considered effective in reducing pain intensity. Objective: This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of these two techniques. Methods: A quasi-experimental design with a two-group pre-test and post-test approach was used, involving 30 patients at Karsa Husada Batu Regional Hospital. The analysis used is the bivariate Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test and Mann Whitney U Test. Results: The results of the study showed that the level of anxiety before CA mammary surgery patients were given progressive muscle relaxation was 9(60%) seriously anxious and before the patients were given slow deep breathing 8(53.3%) were seriously anxious. After the intervention, 2 (13.3%) patients had the criteria for Severe Anxiety and in the slow deep breathing relaxation technique group 6 (40%) had the criteria for Severe Anxiety. Conclusion: Both techniques were found to be equally effective in reducing postoperative pain following appendectomy.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Patients who are delayed in recovery after spinal anesthesia will be transferred to the post anesthesia care unit (PACU) which can lead to increased service costs and patient dissatisfaction. Lower extremity motor function recovery time after spinal anesthesia is the time it takes for patients to be able to move from the recovery room to the patient's original room. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation of Head-up position to the recovery time of lower extremity motor function in spinal anesthesia patients in the recovery room. The design of the study was correlation with a “cross-sectional” approach. The population was post-spinal anesthesia patients in the recovery room who meet the criteria. The study used "purposive sampling" with 96 post-spinal anesthesia patients. The independent variable was the head-up position, while the dependent variable was the recovery time of lower extremity motor function. The analysis test used the Pearson correlation test. The results of the correlation test showed no correlation between head-up position and recovery time of lower extremity motor function in spinal anesthesia patients with p-value = 0.099 (>0.05). This was due to the longer the duration of surgery, the faster the effect of spinal anesthesia drugs will run out. It is recommended to apply the results of this study as a review of SOPs related to the intervention of giving a head-up position to post-spinal anesthesia patients in the recovery room.
