Abstract

This study investigates high school students’ visual-spatial thinking ability in the context of transformation geometry using a descriptive quantitative design. A total of 241 students from public and Islamic high schools in Jakarta participated in the study, responding to a validated 40-item multiple-choice test assessing four key indicators: imagining, problem-solving, pattern seeking, and conceptualising. Results reveal that students generally performed at a medium level across all indicators, with the highest scores in imagining (M=62.97) and the lowest in conceptualising (M=47.05). These findings suggest that while students demonstrate some spatial reasoning capability, their conceptual understanding remains limited. The study highlights the importance of incorporating visualisation-focused strategies in geometry instruction to strengthen spatial reasoning and deeper comprehension of transformation concepts. Future research should explore the longitudinal impact of visual-spatial training and its role in developing higher-order geometrical thinking.

Abstract

Abstract

This study analyzes the enhancement of students' mathematical reasoning abilities in a Basic Mathematics course through the implementation of context-based learning utilizing biological contexts. A pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design was employed. The research was conducted during the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year within the Tadris Biology Study Program at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, involving a purposive sample of 94 students. Data were collected using both test and non-test instruments. The content validity of the four-item essay test was quantitatively verified using Aiken’s V index, indicating high validity, while instrument reliability was confirmed via Cronbach's Alpha (α = 0.82). Data analysis involved descriptive statistics, paired t-tests, Normalized Gain (N-gain) scores, and Cohen’s d effect size to evaluate the magnitude of improvement. The results demonstrated a statistically significant enhancement in students' mathematical reasoning across all indicators. The mean scores (on a scale of 1–4) for constructing justification increased from 2.6 to 3.3, drawing conclusions from 2.5 to 3.2, and mathematical manipulation from 2.8 to 3.4. Conversely, the capacity to verify argument validity showed a limited gain, rising from 2.4 to 2.7. The effect size analysis revealed a robust effect, confirming that biology-contextualized mathematics learning substantially develops procedural and constructive reasoning, whereas evaluative reasoning requires more targeted pedagogical interventions

Abstract

B.F. Skinner, as a behaviourist, emphasized that Learning is shaped more by observable behaviour than by cognition alone. This study explores the application of Skinner’s theory in moral education, aiming to enhance students’ attitudes and character development. Conducted during the odd semester of the 2022 to 2025 academic year, the research employed a case study involving 154 undergraduate students from the Mathematics Education program at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Findings indicate that applying Skinner’s principles significantly improved students’ cognitive understanding of moral concepts, as reflected in an average score of 82%. More notably, students demonstrated positive behavioural changes through presentations and individual assignments, including reflective activities that encouraged them to connect moral theory with personal conduct. The novelty of this study lies in extending Skinner’s theory—traditionally applied to cognitive Learning—into the domain of moral education, highlighting its relevance for character formation in higher education. While current instructional practices remain predominantly cognitive, this research advocates for a more balanced approach that integrates behaviour-focused strategies to foster moral development. The findings affirm that Skinner’s theory remains a viable pedagogical framework for cultivating both understanding and ethical behaviour among university students.

Abstract

Today's technology is increasingly dominating all aspects of life, including the use of technology in education, one of which is education at RA level. This research is integrated with community service activities which aim to train RA teachers to 1) utilize interactive projector-based ICT learning media in learning, 2) develop interactive projector-based ICT media for early childhood, 3) provide an overview of RA student activities in learning using interactive projector-based ICT media. Method The R&D method is used in developing interactive projector-based ICT applications and media to improve RA students' learning activities in the classroom. Interactive projector based ICT media trials were conducted in two RAs, namely RA Al-Hidayah students and RA Al-Husaeni students. Pandeglang district, Banten Province. The results showed that 1) arranged interactive learning applications for early childhood using interactive projector-based ICT media, 2) The thematic learning process in RA using interactive projector-based ICT media was very enjoyable, this was shown by the enthusiasm of students in participating in lessons and there is also an increase in the learning activities of RA students in Pandeglang Regency. 3) The teacher gives a positive response to the use of interactive projectors in thematic learning in class RA

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to enhance of mathematics undergraduate students’ pedagogic competency by providing assistance in the development of learning media in mathematics. The research method is action research which includes four stages: pre-research analysis, reflection, preparation and implementation of actions, and evaluation. The instrument is questionnaire of validation by media experts (content / material) and practitioner in education. The research was conducted in 2019/2020 with 15 students of mathematics education study program who have computer skills. The results shows that an assistance for undergraduate students is effective to improving their competences specially in pedagogy integrated to technology mobile learning. Based on expert judgments the nine learning media based smartphone in mathematics was produced in this study showed the "feasible" category. The implication of this research is needed to assistance widely, such as for teachers.
