Abstract

This research aims to examine the relationship between parenting styles and the social maturity of students. The research design used in this study is correlational quantitative. The population of this study is students from the Sekolah Menengah Pertama Islam Terpadu X. The sampling technique used is total sampling, resulting in a total of 83 respondents. Data collection was conducted using the Parenting Style and Dimensions Questionnaire-Short Version (PSDQ-Short Version) and the Vineland Social Maturity Scale (VSMS). The data analysis technique used was the Product Moment Pearson Correlation analysis. Based on the hypothesis results, a p-value of 0.004 was obtained, which is less than 0.05, and an r-value of 0.310, indicating that there is a relationship between parenting style and the social maturity of students. Authoritative parenting is positively related to social maturity, while authoritarian and permissive parenting have a negative relationship with social maturity.

Abstract

This study aims to see the relationship between family support and adversity quotient in mothers who have autistic children in SLB Bukittinggi city. This study uses a correlational quantitative method. The research sample consisted of 119 mothers who had autistic children at SLB Bukittinggi city who were selected through the quota sampling technique. This study is a modification of the adversity quotient measuring instrument (Ummah, 2021) and used the family support measuring instrument (Kismawati, 2019) which have reliability of 0.881 and 0.894, respectively. The results of spearman correlation r = 0.595 and p value = 0.000 (p<0.05) showed a significant positive relationship between family support and adversity quotient in mothers who have autistic children in SLB Bukittinggi city

Abstract

Academic resilience is the ability to move forward amid the difficulties and challenges that are occurring, to strive and remain positively uplifted in facing the hardships at hand. One of the factors that can influence academic resilience is social support, which is the assistance received by individuals from those around them that can boost self-confidence and help them face their problems. The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between social support and academic resilience among students who are working on their thesis at Padang State University. This research method uses a quantitative research method with a sample size of 341. The data analysis method employs simple linear regression analysis. The research results indicate that social support contributes 12.6% to the academic resilience of final-year students who are working on their thesis. This finding shows that social support is a strong predictor of academic resilience, where the higher the social support received by students, the higher their level of academic resilien

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the contribution of goal orientation to self-regulated learning among high school students in Bungo Regency. This study used quantitative research. The technique used was cluster sampling with a sample of 332 high school students in Bungo Regency. The data collection technique used was a questionnaire, utilizing instruments developed by the researcher based on the dimensions of goal orientation according to Ames (1992) and aspects of self-regulated learning according to Zimmerman (1990). The data analysis technique used was multiple regression analysis, which produced an R2 value of 0.267, showing that goal orientation contributed 26.7% to self-regulated learning among high school students in Bungo Regency. These findings show that goal orientation simultaneously contributes to the self-regulated learning of high school students in Bungo Regency.

Abstract

Becoming a successful entrepreneur is a highly coveted achievement, as the profession offers independence, financial stability, and room for growth. However, an interesting phenomenon arises when an established entrepreneur chooses to step out of their comfort zone and enter the world of politics. This situation raises questions about the factors that drive such a career change. This study aims to examine the political motivations of the elected mayor of Sungai Penuh City and to understand the reasons that led him to leave the comfort of his previous profession to enter the political arena. This study uses a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach and uses data analysis techniques according to Miles, Huberman & Saldana, which consists of 3 stages, namely data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data collection for this study was carried out in 3 in-depth interview sessions with the elected mayor of Sungai Penuh. This study found three major themes consisting of several sub-themes. The first major theme is competence, which consists of experience and skills. The second is calling, which includes social support, altruism, achievement motivation, and self-confidence. The third is self-sacrifice, which consists of resilience, values, emotional regulation, integrity, strategy, challenge, problem solving, and role conflict.
