Abstract

This article aims to explain the History of the Barzanji Tradition. The Barzanji tradition has been carried out since Islam entered Indonesia. It is undeniable that the entry of Islam had a major influence on Bugis culture. Likewise with the tradition of reading Barzanji in the Rantau Parapat community. In society, the reading of Barzanji is usually done on occasions, such as the pilgrimage. But it's not limited to just that commemoration, the Barzanji tradition is also held on various occasions, as a tribute to the achievement of something better. For example, at the time of the birth of a baby, shaving the baby's hair (akikah), circumcision, weddings and other ceremonies at Rantau Parapat. This research is a qualitative research using the historical method. So the steps taken in this research are heuristics (data collection), verification (Source Criticism), interpretation and historiography. In data collection techniques, the authors collect data from two sources, namely primary sources and secondary sources. From the data collection, then the data is analyzed and interpreted based on chronological order.

Abstract

This article aims to see how the role of Sheikh Abdul Halim Khatib in the spread of Islam in Mandailing Natal. Sheikh Abdul Halim Khatib is a major scholar figure who is quite well known in Mandailing Natal and its surroundings. However, the role of Sheikh Abdul Halim Khatib in developing the religion of Islam, especially in Purbabaru, the people there participated in many recitations, and the people there were more active in religion. The researcher aims to find out the historical process of the entry and development of Islam in Mandailing Natal, the life of Sheikh Abdul Halim Khatib and his role in the development of Islam in Mandailing Natal and the writings of Sheikh Abdul Halim Khatib in spreading Islam in Mandailing. The research that the author is doing is field research using historical research methods, and this research was conducted in Purbabaru Village, Lembah Sorik Marapi District, Mandailing Natal Regency, and the informants in this study were Musthafawiyah alums who were considered more knowledgeable about the role of Sheikh Abdul Halim Preacher. Sheikh Abdul Halim Khatib's relationship with the community is different from that of his teacher, Sheikh Musthafa Husein because he teaches more in the classroom, such as giving recitations at home to the community and his students on a scheduled basis, and Sheikh Abdul Halim Khatib has knowledge in the field of Sufism.

Abstract

This article aims to discuss the history and role of the Nurul Iman Islamic boarding school in fostering Muslims in Pinding Village, Southeast Aceh Regency in 1960-2000. The Nurul Islam Islamic Boarding School is a boarding school that was founded in 1960. Since its establishment until now, the Nurul Islam Islamic Boarding School has helped the community of Pinding village in carrying out their obligations as Muslims, including performing the 5 daily prayers. The method used in this study is a historical research method through four stages, namely the heuristic, verification, interpretation and historiography stages. Data collection techniques used in this research are observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that the Nurul Islam Islamic boarding school is the oldest Islamic boarding school in Southeast Aceh Regency. The Nurul Islam Islamic Boarding School has developed from year to year. The Nurul Islam Islamic Boarding School has a major role in fostering Muslims in Pinding Village, Bambel District, Southeast Aceh Regency as a religious education institution, da'wah institution, and social institution.
